This is Maulo, my newest puppet which is a rod arm mouth hand puppet
Patterns: I used a modified puppet nerd pattern for his head and free styled the rest.
Inspiration: Maulo’s look was original supposed to look similar to the demon in the spare flesh music video To the Brink, but i turn him of more of his own guy, i did take some inspiration from Tim curry’s Lord of darkness from Legend with the open vest robe thing and Matt Servitto’s Satan from Your pretty face is going to hell with his receding hairline and his furry legs.
Materials: His skin (head, body, arms ect) is an old red hoodie. Pingpong ball eyes i spray painted black. Mouth was beige felt. His bones was like beige martin made of yoga mat foam. His rods and finger bones were metal wire and his handles are the ribs of a chair my brother broke. His vest robe thingy and his lower half were an old black hoodie, using the smooth side from the vest and the more textured side for the furry legs (i dont have any black fur fabric so eh), his horns are carved wine cork I painted black. His tongue is red card foam. His hair was an old furry blanket i tried dyeing black with water and water colour paints (please give me suggestions on dyeing if you have any)
The black hoodie, furry blanket and corks were gotten from a car boot sale
Please come and leave some feedback. If anyone has suggestions about anything let me know.
Oh yeah I’ve also attached a photo showing what else I’ve been working on.
I’m a first-time puppet maker and I’m looking for people to recommend some materials to get in Australia specifically a type of foam that would be recommended for puppet building also what’s the best way to form a puppet? I’ve heard a lot of people use hot glue other sew
This was made for Bing‘s Birthday Party.
Honestly, Coco is my favorite out of these, she looks pretty huggable. (2nd picture)
These are using similar techniques to the puppets in Bluey’s Big Play
first puppet, how do I make his body?
Finally working on my first puppet- wanted him to be a medieval lion-esque creature made from a dark wood. The concept head was made from clay and I finished up the head today and It's really hyping me up to do the rest of the body!
He will be a fully articulated marionette, and he's carved from incredibly dense bottlebrush wood from my backyard. I swear he looks smoother in person😭
His name is dill! Hes foam old tshirt and pipe cleaners with button eyes
im super confused on how to build this head. what are these black pieces?? why did the pattern come with this tiny pattern?? send help...
Im making a demon puppet and want to add some angry eyebrows but im not sure what method to use
Method one is piece of red fabric sliver
Method two is a strip of black felt
Method three is a black pipe cleaner to make it look more thinner brow
Opinions?
These are the three animal companions from the famous Japanese folktale Momotaro: a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant.
They join Momotaro on his journey to Onigashima (Demon Island), where they fight the demons together.
These are traditional Japanese string puppets from Isshiza, a traditional Japanese string puppet theatre company in Tokyo, Japan.
i’m an aspiring puppeteer, and I just find this really special to me... especially Shake’s entrance. Mr. Snyder’s performances never fail to cheer me up when I feel like crap. From one puppet nerd to another, he will always be an inspiration to me. ❤️🩹
I have more clips if interested.
