I moved into a new place three days ago, and today I finally unpacked my Pyrex collection and put it out on display. I haven’t actually seen most of it in several years.
After leaving an extremely abusive marriage and downsizing, I just didn’t have the space to have my collection out anymore. So unpacking it today unexpectedly hit me pretty hard… in a good way.
Some of my happiest memories from that time in my life were antique hunting with my stepdaughter and my grandparents. My grandma passed away earlier this year, and we were extremely close. We had been antique shopping together since I was two years old. My grandparents even had their own antique booth for about a decade, and they used to take road trips all over the country collecting things they loved. Their house is basically a treasure chest of memories.
Looking at my Pyrex today brought so much of that back. I thought about all the afternoons spent hunting for treasures with my grandma and grandpa, and all the fun times antique shopping with my stepdaughter, who I’m still very close with.
It was such a strange feeling because some of these things came from a really difficult chapter of my life, but they also hold some of my happiest memories from that chapter.
After so much darkness, it felt really special to be able to unpack these things and actually enjoy them again. To have the happy parts of that time in my life out where I can see them, instead of packed away in storage.
I know it’s “just Pyrex” to some people, but today it felt like a little reminder that even in the middle of some really hard seasons, there can still be beautiful things worth holding onto.
Anyway… I’m just really happy to have my collection home and on display again.
These are my go-to's when I'm bringing food over to families for special dinners and holidays. I also have the round and 9x13 in brown, but I like to keep a consistent color when I'm serving.
I thought Pyrex had discontinued the Ultimate line (all glass & silicone, no plastic!) but now it's back at Costco online (currently $10 off) and shows on the Pyrex website again! Yay!
I found these five mixing bowls being sold together for $2 at a garage sale today. They're by no means perfect but in pretty darn good shape, and I'm feeling like I made out like a bandit. I've never heard of Pyrex putting a gold rim on their mixing bowls, so that must have been added as a personal touch. I also found an immaculate Libby crazy daisy pattern casserole, and whatever pattern Corning this is both with lids for a few bucks each. Great day!
Its fair day in our little town in Ireland and that brings the caravans toting vintage and antique finds from all over. I got lucky this morning and got a really lovely casserole with the lid in like new condition. We also drove out to an antique/thrift shop that’s inside an old church and I found a 4oz glass baby bottle! I have an 8oz one that I’ve had for ages so finds smaller one was neat. Also got some clear round casserole lids, one of which fit a piece I already had.
Can anybody tell me how old these Pyrex symbols are? I have about 20 of these little bowls.
I went to an estate auction last weekend and found this kind of hidden in one of the boxes during the viewing period. I left it that way hoping no one else would notice 😬🤞
When they finally got to that box two and a half hours later, it was put up with 10 other boxes and auctioned grab on style. Basically he sets the starting price and goes down in $5 increments until someone bids. That person gets their first choice of the boxes up there, then he continues on at that price until everything is gone. He started at $25 and I was not taking any chances lol. The rest of the box was mostly junk, but there was a beautiful anchor hocking butter dish, amber benko pitcher and some amber votive holders.
I also got a 2 quart Corning Vision casserole to go with the roaster I found last week as part of a different lot.🙌
I spent some time talking to the owner who was such a sweet lady. Her husband had just passed, she was moving to Florida and had to massively downsize. You can tell all this stuff meant so much to her, and it broke her heart that she couldn't fit it all in her new space. I found out that she owns property she's keeping in my nearby hometown so we exchanged numbers. I went into the sale hoping to find treasures and found more than I could ever have bargained for ♥️
This is Pyrex from like the 1980s part of a two piece set.
Thought they had discontinued the Ultimate line as it was no longer on their website, now it's back (marked as new arrival)

My current pink collection on display. I love color blocking my collection when possible.
I told them to reevaluate the price. Brown Elephant, Clark St., Chicago. have fun! 🤩
EDIT: Thanks, you guys made me feel better about leaving them.
Early American Print and Old Orchard.
She wanted $10 for each, but they are near perfect so I had to scoop them up. Felt good after leaving the last sale disappointed to find the set of 3 primary color Pyrex mixing bowls were in absolutely dismal condition. I spotted them in the photo advertising the sale and showed up right at open to make sure I could get first dibs. Unfortunately they looked much better from 10 ft. One had a big chip on the rim and the paint was in bad shape on every one. She also wanted $20. Part of me is kicking myself because she had an extra of the chipped bowl separately for $5. It was equally as rough but not chipped. Would you guys have bought all 4 for $25?
NOW SPOKEN FOR
We bought the Pyrex 10-piece Ultimate Glass Food Storage Set from Costco a few months ago and managed to break the 3- and 6-cup rectangular dishes in short order.
Now we have those lids with no purpose. I would happily mail them to any fellow Costco lover if you pay the shipping ($10?).
Maybe you lost them or your dog ate them (like ours did to one of the circular ones). I just don't want to throw them away if someone else can use them.
What pattern is this and would it be worth going back and picking it up??
Usually no issue with Pyrex but recently purchased and was curious if this was normal/typical for the newer Pyrex containers? All 5 in this case came similar to this. Just curious. I thought it was dusty initially. Thanks all.
