Pyrex mixing bowls or storage?
I was trying to find my recent thrifts to get possible lids. But idk which products these are.
1x 16.7cm diameter, 11.3cm tall
1x 15.2cm diameter, 9.7cm tall
1x 15.3cm diameter (why different?), 9.6cm tall
These are all outside measurements
I am confused to to 0.1cm difference
Anyway, any lids that fit would be helpful, especially non plastic lids
Help me!
I’m helping a lady who is in hospice liquidate her house. She has no heirs or children and I am working for her fiduciary to ensure we treat her estate fairly. I am going to sell these pieces at an estate sale. I know they are pricey, but could anyone give me a reasonable estate sale value?
The winter ones seem to be unused ever? And the bowls are almost completely perfect.
weird dairy smell in vintage pyrex bowls
hi! i have a vintage set of pyrex mixing bowls from the 70s…and sometimes after baking (and then cleaning) they smell strongly of…old dairy? it’s hard to explain but it def smells a lot like milk. in a bad way.
it doesn’t happen every time i cook and then clean the bowls. and it doesn’t even have to have touched dairy to have the smell pop up (this evening i mixed meatballs in one of my bowls). the smell happens after washing…regardless of what dish soap i use.
i’m sensitive to smell and it really bothers me. once it happens no amount of cleaning or varying soaps will make the smell go away. at some point the smell dissipates.
i thought a reddit search would help but so far it seems this is a novel issue.
ideas? tips? is it a sign the bowls aren’t safe to cook with? help!
Bought glass containers from Costco and found this hiding in the box
A sign of real ingenuity.
I know this sub is usually for showing off vintage finds, but I wanted to share what’s happening at the actual plant in Corning right now. My wife is a long-term union worker there, part of the team making the dishes we all use.
Today, the new HR Director walked her out over a "conduct violation" that is honestly hard to believe. She called off for a shift, and the security guard typed "NSD" (Next Scheduled Day) in the return box. Despite having written proof she wasn't coming in, HR is calling it a "no-show" because the guard accidentally clicked a "Tardy" box on a dropdown menu.
They are bypassing the entire union attendance system to fire people over contractor typos and petty synonyms (like saying "PTO" instead of "Personal"). They even messed up the termination papers so bad they have the wrong shift and supervisor listed.
The new owners are spending millions on commercials about "investing in the American worker," but on the shop floor, they are firing experienced glassworkers over clerical errors. It’s heartbreaking to see a brand with this much history being run like this. Just thought this community should know what’s going on behind the scenes of the products we love.
edit:I want to clarify a few things that have come up in the comments elsewhere. A union representative was physically present during the termination meeting and has reportedly filed a grievance over this firing. However, the meeting itself revealed a massive procedural failure. Management and the rep spent a significant amount of time arguing over a previous grievance from January which involved a dispute over whether my wife said "PTO" or "Personal" during a call-off. When she asked for a definitive answer on whether that January case was actually settled or closed, neither side could provide one. It appears the company is using an unresolved ghost grievance as the foundation for this termination. Because of the confusion and the sloppy paperwork, we are calling the union hall tomorrow
gooseberry fridge set 🌸
first at an estate sale this morning, spent a little more than i wanted to ($100) but the set is in such good shape and has all the lids!
both photos are before i’ve cleaned them up, but thought it was a little odd that the pattern wasn’t on the long side of the larger size? any thoughts appreciated!
also, let me know what you keep in your fridgies so i can use them as much as possible 💖✨
Never posted on here before but I had to show everyone my Pyroceram snowflake dish
Never even heard of Pyroceram before this dish. The one similar to it on eBay is $800. Is this close to accurate?! I plan to keep it with my collection but really just wanted to show it to some experts :)
Goodwill find!
I've gotten pretty lucky here lately... Found a friendship dish last week and found this today... For 15 dollars!
Has anyone ever seen a delphite blue 501-c lid with groves for... Spoons?
They are for sure molded in that way, one small chip but otherwise pretty good condition, just have never seen with groves in the lid.
I’m drawing a blank. I can’t find info on these bowls anywhere! They’re unmarked Cinderella bowls, 8” and 6” across. I was hoping for opal but I don’t know. Any idea?
