QR wallet app can't save QR on paper ticket

I purchased some ferry tickets from a kiosk which printed out a paper ticket with a large QR code on the bottom. Upon boarding the ferry, a crew member scans the code to validate your ticket.

When I use my cellphone's QR code wallet application, it shows a re-rendered version of the QR code that is clearly different than the tickets. The crew member was unable to scan or validate my ticket using the re-rendered version stored in my QR wallet.

Some of the printed ticket info seems to be present in the QR

TVM: 3017150
Trans: 161090
Ticket N of 10 (S=N value increments in the QR with the "N of 10" printed on the ticket)

02-3017150-T=161090,S=1,F=8,I=081726-1726,E=111526-2359 23536269

Is this a common security feature, or does it indicate an issue with my application?

QR code menus?

What's the deal with QR code menus? I know most restaurant owners don't like them, but I think they offer some great upsides, like instant translation in various languages, not needing to print anymore, publishing it on your website, etc. They can also show images of the food and provide accurate description.

Any opinion here is greatly appreciated

Can anyone help me recover/restore this QR code?

Hi everyone,

I have a QR code that has been damaged, and I’m trying to recover the original code or at least make it scannable again, but sadly i have no skill in such things so i made it only half readable, i tried some websites but they cant read it because dont see the finders and i dont know why

I’ve attached the image (one recovered and the original). If anyone with experience in QR code reconstruction, image processing, or error correction could take a look and see whether the missing information can be recovered, I’d really appreciate it

Can't scan the QR code.

I use my phone for calling, taking pictures, and surfing the web.

I don't have a QR code option in my drop menu and my camera app isn't recognizing the QR box.

I'm considering venmo.

qrink

Hi everyone,

I've built a dynamic QR router which combines QR codes and keywords - something I haven't encountered so far. I tried to make it easy and accessible for non-technical users, while still keeping it powerful enough to do cool things like routing.

I'd love to see it make QR-based guerilla marketing easy and accessible for artists and small businesses. To fund the free offering, I'm playing with the concept of having a cheap subscription for people who want more landing pages / keys / routes.

I've also included support for the classic "one QR leads to one target" model, with simple transition between multi-key and single-key modes.

I'm also thinking of adding custom domain support to allow people to easily migrate away, but before investing any more into it, I'd love to see if it actually brings anyone value.

It's up at https://qrink.lol

I'll be happy to hear your thoughts!

QR code woes

Hi there! I recently got caught out by a QR code generator website - I made a QR code, printed all my marketing, only to be sent an email saying that I have to subscribe to their service in order for the qr code to keep working. There was NO mention of this previously.

I am just starting my business and don’t have the money for their (frankly very expensive) subscription.

Does anyone know if I can change a dynamic code to a static one? Or is there anyway to “rehost” a code? I can’t afford to reprint all my marketing either.

Thank you in advance!

Do QR codes with logos scan less reliably?

I am etching QR codes on stainless steel tags intended to be attached to home appliances. It would be ideal to bury the logo in the QR code rather than separately so I can save the space for more aesthetic designs, since they are intended to be seen regularly and I don't want them to scream "I'm a promotional QR sticker".

Does anyone have experience etching codes with logos on tags? Do the tags with logos scan less reliably?

Any Barcode & QR Code ideas that could inspire something new to build?

I’m a forklift operator and built an offline barcode/QR app. What else could scanning solve?

I’m a forklift operator, not a developer. I just like building small tools for practical problems.

It started because I wanted to scan product barcodes and build a list at work. We only have one computer, from the 2000s, and it isn’t always accessible — while I always have my phone with me.

So I built an Android app that works completely offline.

At first it just collected codes. Then I thought: if I’m already scanning something, why only save the code?

Now it can also check codes against an expected list, record quantities and destinations, display information from Excel/ODS/TXT files, and even let several phones build the same list together over Bluetooth.

Those features came from problems I encounter myself.

Now I’m curious about the problems I don’t encounter:

What simple real-world task — at work, at home, for a hobby, whatever — could be made easier by scanning a barcode or QR code completely offline?

Even stupidly simple ideas are welcome. Those are often the most useful ones.

If you want to try what I built, the Google Play testing links are on my profile.

Does Facebook has it own QR code generator like Instagram does?

I am trying to access my QR code for my Facebook business page, but I wonder does Facebook accounts or pages has their own QR code like Instagram does? If so, where to find it?

Or do I have to use other QR code generator websites to make one?

Thanks.
