Hello everyone, I have been using the desktop version of Quicken classic on my main pc. I started using the classic web version due to travelling a lot. My web cloud account is current. How do I update my outdated desktop file FROM the cloud? Everything I am looking at is vise versa.

Any issues with editing security names like payees long term? Right now it all works great but wouldn't mind renaming to make it more organized for my brain and not have everything capped or Class A in the name, etc. 😄 If it causes any issues, I'll leave as is because you know, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I feel like it "shouldn't" cause an issue. These are downloaded transactions.

About 5 years ago, Quicken went through a process to change/update/improve/make more secure the data download process for my accounts at Schwab which thereafter seriously crashed and burned with data corruption that propagated and got worse from day to day. The only fix was to delete the whole data file and start over from a backup from before the change was implemented (always highly recommended). Lots of promises were made by Quicken to fix this with lots of finger pointing at Schwab who thereafter refused to talk about it, and after awhile Quicken did too. After more than 2 years of this being the common occurrence, I just stopped trying to track my Schwab accounts on Quicken. Since then, very many Quicken Updates have been downloaded, installed and successfully used giving a pretty unblemished experience for me (important because I have a large data file with many years of personal financial history therein). Before trying the Schwab downloads again, I would like to know from the community of Quicken Classic users whether this is previous very serious issue (which seemed to impact only Schwab data downloads) is still a continuing problem ??
Tried opening the software tonight. It told me I didn’t have an account and I need to log in. So I try to log in and it tells me my password is wrong. I reset the password, and try to log in again and it says my password is bad. I renewed my subscription last September so it should still be active. Am I missing something?
I am trying to correct some older transactions in my investment accounts. For reinvested dividends, quicken shows just the net dividend paid/reinvested and ignored the Foreign Tax paid completely. I believe these transactions were pulled from the broker which at the time was American Funds. To correct this, I am entering a DIV transaction for the amount of the foreign tax paid and then entering a MISC EXP transaction using a Foreign Tax Paid category that I created. Is this correct? Is there a better/ more accurate way to do this?
I went to reconcile my BofA accounts today and was prompted to reauthorize. After reauthorization I downloaded and now after clearing all transactions the account is still off.
Tried the same with my wife's accounts and get the same result.
Has anyone else experienced this and figured out what is throwing things off?
Every few months they're releasing a feature where it turns my client invoice section negative. I log client invoice in there to send out and ever since the beginning of this year, it auto creates a payment for some weird reason, so when I do get paid, it looks like I'm paid 2x.
Any one seen this? How do I get it to stop?
Finally! I've had to create my own index entry in the past. Gotta search with that ^ prefix.
SOLVED:
I removed the account from Quicken and then reconnected it again.
The online balance and the Quicken balance is always way off. I can reconcile and it will add an adjustment, but the next time there is any activity, the balance is off by 10x the activity. I have 4 other accounts at Fidelity that are fine.
Where am I going wrong?
I use One Step Update for all my accounts, and I just added a new credit card to my home business's Quicken Accounts, so I now have 2 bank accounts and 3 credit cards to reconcile each month.
I'm an old school bookekeeper, so for decades now I've been manually doing Use paper Statement every month when statements arrive. I initial, date, and file the rec'd stametments in case I'm audited (I'm a bit OCD). I'm wondering if, for some or all those accounts, should I switch to Reconcile Using Online Balance or maybe another system? I'm looking to add time/efficiency to my bookkeeping work.
What's the best way to track annuities? I tried investment account,offline, but that didn't work well.
The software is giving me the option to upgrade from 8.5.2 to 9.0.2. Has anyone made the jump? If so, how did it go? Is there anything I should be aware of?
Anyone here have a direct connection to their Lincoln Financial account within Quicken, and if so, have you had errors the past several days?
Been using Quicken for 10+ years. For the past 5 years I've had my 401k thru Lincoln connected, and every day it downloads and updates the balance. That stopped working some time last week I believe. I figured it was a temporary fluke, but I'm still having issues.
Tried troubleshooting on my own and contacting Quicken support, but so far no resolution. Guess my next step is trying to contact Lincoln to see if something changed on their end? I tried resetting the account's direct connection, but now Quicken won't let me add it back. It just returns error code OL-292-B and says the request is invalid.
i came on here to rant... I've been working my way out of the apple ecosphere for about 6 months. keeping macs for music/video/art production but that's it. trying to get all of my shit onto windows. long and short is totally sick of apples drive to obsolescence, insane prices and lack of input and control. just over it. won't go further because that would be a few pages in itself...
The difference between mac and windows QC is the difference between an exploding star and a giraffe. these are quite literally two different programs. I pay for deluxe for extra budgeting control as well as cloud sync. so $75 a year. Not bad for mac, IMO, but $75 too much for windows.
literally every simple ass thing i try to do on it isn't possible. what just now sent me over the edge was finding out that Ctrl+A, doesn't select all transactions in an account. it opens some stupid account window. after a month of trying to make this work I just found out you can't actually "select all" - something I use all the fn time... no- to select all you have to grab one if you can without it going into edit mode, hold shift and scroll through what might be 10 years of transactions
like probably everyone on here i now have to work 18 hours a day just to survive and this is what i've been using my free time on so kinda losing it and regretting every time I recommended this product. way behind in keeping the books up which begins makes me wiggy.
i am honestly floored at how much you can't do in windows. you know how you like to drag a column like 'tags', or 'memos' and put it where you like? Nope
it's more than just simple shit... did you know there's no night mode and the basic layout looks like it's from 1997? yup
with my cash accounts I'd occasionally drag transactions back and forth... nope. try to grab one without opening the fields for editing. it's nearly impossible.
i knew transferring from mac to windows would likely cause problems but omg... firstly you have one export option to keep everything in tact. "but it lets you select only the accounts you want to transfer right" Nope. why would it do that??? ....idiot
on top of this some accounts were missing slews data, so i tried the in/export again. does it ask you is you really wanna duplicate all these account? No, of course not... why would it? windows computers are only a fucking blizzard of non-stop notifications. it would tell you when it had to take a shit if it needed to do that. but the missing data was there when you tried again right? Nope. it remained perfectly imperfect again.
now onto deleting accounts... that's fun and only take like 10 clicks with a huge waiting period, while it re-updates the cloud for the 90th time in 15 minutes. probably too much to ask you if you really want to wait for this again... yeah it is busy, basically choking on a barrage of unrelated notifications that don't matter at all
you know those handy blue dots and how they are supposedly for alerting you to review new transactions on mac? well, when you download new transactions they are there until you file them where you need and shut hte dot off. there's not even a filter for that... there's a dropdown of a dozen things you can show and hide. but not that, not "status" which is what the blue dots are now.... so time to get used to the R and C's i guess... even though the C, for cleared, is already a line item in all new transactions... it is automatically labeled as cleared... WTF is going on?!?! so now I have to go through 18 million transactions that are impossible to select individually or in bulk and somehow charge it to an R as my finger on the shift button quakes and sweat stings my eyes for fear of 2 hours of transaction selections could be for nothing. which is what i will pay for QC next time.
you know what. im not even going to get into the rest of it. there's so many upside down issues i can't wrap my head around. every god dammed thing i solved brought forth 5 more issues that I still need to figure out... and *I HAVEN'T EVEN USED IT YET* / in a month of daily snippets of whack-a-mole problem solving i haven't come close to using qc for what I supposedly paid for.

unless there's an overhaul, where it runs nice and smooth like the mac version and less like an elementary school computer from the 80's i am so done with this POS software. which is why i ACTUALLY came here: to read other peoples ideas for a better program for PC. as bad as this is i can't go back to apple. even with gates being a PDF i still have to make this switch.
I'm older (much), and have a surgery coming up that will limit my access to the computer I have my Quicken on, for a while, anyway. I'm debating moving it to my laptop vs. switching to Simplifi vs using web access with the classic version. I really only track transactions, account balances, and do reports to track spending and for taxes- none of the planning tools in the classic. I want my wife, (when I'm gone) to have something that she can use (she's smart, but has no interest in finance). I have decades of records on Quicken, and don't want to lose anything, just in case. Opinions?
I’m currently manually downloading my monthly transaction data from the Goldman Sachs Apple Card website. Has anyone found a way to automate the process or set up automatic updates/imports as with my other credit cards?
I'm using Quicken Classic Deluxe for Mac. I'm looking to get an IRA at a low fee type financial institution in the next few months. I know things change but I'd like to be able to have the best support from Quicken. Just as an example, I've had a 401k at my work place for the last 25 years and I didn't have Quicken access until last year when we switched to Voya.
I googled this and the answer seemed to be that it just does it automatically once a day or whatnot. But in the program I see settings to schedule updates. So I'm not sure what I should be doing. I've only been using the program for a few days and it does update if I had it closed and then open it, but if I just leave it open all the time will it automatically update each night (or whenever), or do I need to setup a schedule? Thank you.
So I created a general liability to track my deferred tax (on unrealized gains and tax deferred accounts). I can't get it included in the Planning/Assumptions section. It's not hidden or separate. It's showing up in all other reports, but it's not even listed in the Planning Assumptions to turn on or off.
Any idea? I realize it would be probably be double counting the Planner's future tax handling, but not at that point yet.
