A couple weeks ago I had problems with getting Vanguard accounts to download properly with transactions. I figured that out, but now I am getting two versions of several Vanguard investment as illustrated by the attachment. These are two that are exactly duplicated in number of shares, etc.
As you can see, the text of the duplicate accounts is slightly different. How do I figure which one is correct.
Now I'm not sure which one I need to remove. Is there a good way to figure this out?
Since I only use it for personal banking and do not connect it to internet accounts, will I still be able to use it when Mac Updates to V27?
Recently, I've started upgrading from Quicken 8 for DOS to, after previously degrading from, Quicken 2013. I have two files, one for 2025, and one i'm transferring my dos stuff (manually, mind you) for 2026. Is it possible to combine these two files (they have the same accounts, etc.) so I can have both my 2025 and 2026 finances combined or would I have to manually enter in my 2025 transactions?
I edit investment income transaction categories in Quicken. Until the lastest release, I have been able to change income categories on downloaded transactions from, say Dividends, to Miscellaneous, and then select from custom categories under Catergories for Miscellaneous. Starting this week, changes from Quicken's default categories (e.g., _DivInc) to Miscellaneous no longer take effect. The category under Miscellaneous retains the original _DivInc name, and transactions summarize in report under _DivInc rather than the custom category.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
So recently i've had some strange quirks with download transactions from BofA and Amex
The renaming isn't happening per my renaming rules and it's pulling in the full name from whatever AmEx has in it's download (e.g. Amazon.com XXXYYYY.Washington). It takes time now for me to have to go in and do a manual rename when I used to be just able to pick accept.
when i go to pick a remembered transaction in my register it doesn't automatically set the category like it used to.
many of my recurring transactions are setup as bills (either manual or linked). Recently some of my bills (both transfers and actual categorized ones) have a habit of making a new entry in my register and not matching the transaction when downloaded and then the download matches to the new one. I can catch it because they always have a blank category to them and then I have to delete that one and match it to the other one.
Not sure if it's just me on those, but curious if others have seen those.
on the other hand, fidelity has actually got a big better and now shared added (e.g. employee stock grants) don't show up as bought anymore and require me to do a bunch of stock matching gymnastics.
Props on connecting Amazon order data to the transaction register. Can we get multi-account functionality? I can only link one Amazon account though everyone in my family has their own account.
I had a fraudulent charge on my card so Chase deactivated the card and issued a new card with a new number. After I received my new card, in Quicken I deactivated the connection, then set up a new connection and connected it to the existing account. Transactions downloaded correctly but I can’t reconcile because the online balance does not update. I reset the connection and the online balance did update correctly. But subsequent updates (either by OSU or manually) do not update the online balance (but do download transactions correctly).
Any troubleshooting tips?
So my grandfather has dementia and loves to sign up for random subscriptions. Got an email from Quicken today and a corresponding charge on his credit card for $83.88+tax. When I log into his account using the email that received the renewal notice, no charge is showing. I've contacted Quicken support and they deny any active account and won't look any further into it. Credit card charge shows up as Quicken Inc Menlo Park, CA 94025- Credit card company says contact the merchant. Support says contact the credit card company. Anyone had similar and how do I resolve this ghost account?
Hi there- I hope everyone can understand me as I’m new to Quicken and am not too tech saavy. I don’t know what I did, but my Quicken reset to a “copy” that is inaccurate and not up to date. I have backup files that I copied and saved as I went updating. I’m wondering if I could use one of these files to reset my quicken because everytime I open it now it’s this “copy” that is inaccurate 😫
Tomorrow (Monday) Honeywell is spinning off their aerospace division.
In the past, any time a stock I own has had a spinoff I’ve managed to totally screw up my Quicken. My number of shares and cost basis gets totally messed up and I spend hours trying to fix it lol.
I figure since Honeywell is such a huge stock, others here must own it too. If you successfully enter the spinoff into Quicken tomorrow, please ELI5 on the correct steps to record the spinoff.

We replaced a 2017 PC unable to update to W 11. It was running Quicken 2014 Hm & Business. I shifted to a Mac Air M4 w/courage & Reddit advice. I made a fresh start: no old data migration, no downloading new data, no web/mobile use, and doing back up to external hard drive. No business tracking needs, a high-functioning financial advisor minimizes investment needs & as a long-time Q user Quicken Classic Mac seemed best. Yes, Q-Mac is a different code base & 2014 was "old school" but the "check #" column now only functions as debit transactions & there's no drop-down for ATM, EFT, DEP. Do I have to select a transaction type for every entry??? This feels like apples to limes. I'd very much appreciate some Reddit wisdom.
Has anyone started using AI on their Quicken data? If so, how so? Did you output a file and feed it into your favorite AI? Did you feed your AI a report? I recently fed Claude a QIF file, and I started asking questions about strategies and tax scenarios. Would love to hear how others are using it, best exports, and maybe how Quicken may implement it in the future as a built-in feature.
This is a big bummer because I have several HSA's and a few CC's. One Step Update doesnt even list the amex accounts when it updates.
Anyone have resolution being the usual deactivate/reset steps? It's been a week now.
It has been intermittently syncing over the past few years, mostly not, especially now that I think there's a new layer of 2FA. Has anyone been able to get this to work? It would sometimes prompt me for the 2FA code when it did sync but now it just doesn't update. Connection method is Express Web Connect. Is there another option (other than manual entry)?
I cannot get Quicken's online backup to work. Sometimes the program just stops, or if the excruciatingly long process is competed I get the message "no online backups found." File size is just under 3G.
Spent several hours with support working with a copy of my data file. During that time we moved the file to a different drive on my desktop, then validated and super validated the file among other things. During that process the file size got reduced by about 25% after finding and fixing supposedly over 400 errors, and backups started working, but some account balances were way off, and monthly payment amounts for some loans started showing random amounts.
Onedrive backs up the file seamlessly and i have no issue using it on a daily basis. Unfortunately I have had to use the Onedrive online backup to restore my data file and it worked fine. Why doesn't Quicken's own backup system simply back up the dang file?

Quicken can't import transactions from the Apple Card automatically and Apple Card can't export Quicken format data files until the end of the statement period. The Apple Card lets you export transactions to CSV and Quicken lets you import from CSV but Quicken is very picky about the column naming and order.
I wrote a Python script that takes an Apple Card CSV export, renames and reorders the columns and generates a CSV import that Quicken accepts.
I run Quicken on a Windows VM because last I checked Quicken for Mac didn't support RSUs. So I scheduled a Windows task such that when the CSV appears in a folder, the python script fires and the import-ready CSV appears in another folder. You don't need that but it's included.
