Looking to purchase an e-bike. Looking for suggestions.
This will be my second Ragbrai. I did 51 and have since had our first baby. Our baby will be almost 2 by the time Ragbrai 2027 happens. Because he will be with us im thinking of getting an e bike to carry his extra weight as well as things he will need. Ie, snacks, toys, diaper changing things small cooler for milk.
I was looking for some input on what brands can handle the Iowa hills. My current bike and my husbands are both trex and I like the brand but am not brand loyal. I have no issue doing the mileage so I don’t expect to have to use much of the pedal assist accept for the hills themselves so I’m hoping I don’t also have to buy an extra battery.
Also trailer carrying versus cargo with a baby bike seat( we have a Thule bike seat already)? I feel like we would get more long term use out of a cargo e bike as we could continue to use it as he gets older and it would be easier to keep an eye on him with him right behind me but Im also debating on the pull behind trailer because he would have more access to toys and be in closed for weather and possibly nap better ? (I don’t currently own a trailer so im not sure if he would nap well in it. He sits fine for our currently bikes rides in his Thule seat and I don’t think we would have a huge issue with just the bike seat as we can get off an explore the stops each time and have a snack or let him run for a few minutes before we get back on. Just looking for input.
