I’m wondering what everyone’s humidity is in their home? Ours seems to sit around 55-57% during most of the day but gets higher in the 60s overnight sometimes. We’ve only been in the house since end of May so only familiar with it in this disgusting summertime humidity. Anyone use a dehumidifier or do I even need one at this percentage?
Thanks!
I’m the News & Observer reporter who covered this.
Apex Police Chief Ryan Johansen told me that the U.S. Postal Inspection Service conducted three nationwide searches tied to an embezzlement case while Apex’s Flock license-plate reader data was included in the searchable network.
The story also gets into how nationwide Flock searches work, the town’s 30-day retention policy, interagency sharing and the safeguards police say they use. Residents are now pushing local officials to reconsider the program.

Did anyone else’s car get broken into last night? Both mine and my husband’s cars windows got smashed thankfully nothing taken. Turns out over 30 cars in our apartment complex got hit, and several of our neighbors. We are in North Raleigh but I heard a Brier Creek neighborhood got hit too. There are no cameras in our apartment complex and not great street lights. Really frustrating as a resident that the apartment complex can’t do anything about this!!
Y’all be careful out there!!
May he RIP.
Hi something really scary just occurred. I’m wondering if anyone has insight on the situation. I was at the World Market off spring forest road and a man in a mask came up to me with his genitals exposed jerking off to me. He asked me if I knew where the bathroom was and then ran out of the store before I could respond. He was about 5’11 or so, black, wearing blue pj pants. It was really frightening. For context I am a 22 year old woman. I reported it to the store and the police.
TL;DR: Fence being installed to close the breezeway between the station and Wilmington Street, but police, security, and GoRaleigh operators / staff can still access doors in the fencing. Expected by 8/25.
Im 36, laid off twice in software sales (covid team lay off, then at next company from international merger). Been trying to get another corporate job for the past few years. Have done odd jobs like Amazon then Uber but don't want the car wear and tear anymore nor driving jobs. I'm planning to apply to Radiography at Wake Tech, because getting a skill rather than keep pushing out applications into the AI machine hasn't been working. Are there still a lot of healthcare jobs in Raleigh for normal not night hours? Are there more jobs for nursing or for x ray techs rn? I want to feel like if committing to another degree that I can get work after. Thanks for any advice!
I want to know how much y'all are making, i'm interested in bartending. I have several years of experience as a barista but am looking to transition into this to potentially get higher earnings. I know that most places though you need to start in a different position to become a bartender without experience. If anyone has started without any experience, how would you recommend getting your foot in the door?
Has anyone in the Raleigh/Durham/Wake Forest area gone to a fertility clinic where they had a really great experience with the financial/billing department?
I’m currently at Atlantic Fertility, and I’ve been having an incredibly difficult time getting clear, itemized information showing what I’ve paid for, what dates of service those payments were applied to, what was billed to insurance, and what my actual patient responsibility was.
I’ve repeatedly been directed back to the patient portal, but I’ve explained several times that the receipts/statements in the portal don’t seem to accurately reflect my payments or dates of service.
For example, a receipt uploaded for a payment I made on 2/23 lists a 6/22 encounter with Dr. Copland, and a receipt from 3/18 lists the same 6/22 encounter. Obviously I wasn't paying for a June service back in February and March, so trying to reconcile what I've actually paid with my insurance claims has become incredibly confusing. And also, I've maybe met with Dr. Copeland 2-3 times, so to have 10+ receipts that all say encounter with Dr. Copland is a little crazy.
I've asked for an itemized accounting that connects each payment to the actual service/date of service, but I still haven't been able to get something that clearly shows that.
At this point, I'm feeling really frustrated and honestly starting to question my experience with the clinic as a whole. Fertility treatment is already expensive and stressful enough without feeling like you can't get a clear accounting of where thousands of dollars are going.
Has anyone had a fertility clinic in the Triangle with a financial department that was really transparent, organized, and helpful? I'd especially love to hear from anyone who has used insurance for IUI/IVF and had a good experience being able to reconcile their clinic charges, payments, and insurance EOBs.
I’m genuinely trying to understand this.
I-40 is generally less smooth, has narrower lanes, is busier, and has a 65 mph speed limit. Yet people are routinely going 85+ mph like it’s the damn Autobahn. And I don’t mean the occasional one or two cars, I swear sometimes it feels like half the traffic is doing 80–90.
Then I merge onto 540 and suddenly everyone drives like it’s their first day operating a motor vehicle. The road is smoother, the lanes are wider, it’s generally less congested…and yet we are crawling.
AND THE SPEED LIMIT ON 540 IS HIGHER THAN IT IS ON 40.
Make it make sense. I am genuinely perplexed by this phenomenon.
I would love if we could all just drive…idk…normally?
I know. Huge ask. 😂
Has anyone had this done for their dog recently? Any vet recommendations? It looks like Quartet is the one I see mentioned the most. Has anyone used them? NC State and Blue Pearl are also possibilities. Anyone else? Any recommendations or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi! just moved to the area and need a gastroenterologist. looking for recommendations for a good GI who actually cares. I’ve previously had 2 not great experiences with GIs and don’t want to waste more time. Bonus if they are openings sooner rather than later!
Definitely step out for few minutes at sunset. Clouds look lit up
Looking back do you feel that the project being shelved was an unmitigated disaster for transit in the Research Triangle, or is there a silver lining that could be made that the project being shelved prevented what might have been seen by at least some as a white elephant project because of the zoning restrictions in the Research Triangle at the time as well as a lack of reliable connecting bus service around the proposed station sites at the time and/or that a wake up call occurred with Research Triangle transit advocates that local funding sources were needed for transit projects instead of being able to count on the federal government, subsequently leading to the 2011 and 2016 transit referendums being passed in Durham and Raleigh respectively?
