Question about camp

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought that if your flag was up in your camp, you would be safe from any type of attack??

Tonight however, a griefer was able to lasso me in my camp with the flag up??

i just started playing RDO a few weeks ago, and am looking for someone who can help me learn how to play in a more enjoyable way! as of right now i mainly just feel like i’m working more than playing 😭 i play mainly on pc but have xbox as well
i find youtube tutorials useless to me as i like to ask questions and such to actually understand how to play!

I encountered a kind soul

I was doing a bounty by myself and a person came by and helped me kill em.

Once we killed em I hogtied the bounty and then nodded my head at em. We then went on our separate ways.

Why was I sent to jail?

As the title states, I got sent to jail seemingly out of nowhere it just spawned me in there. I’m kinda confused cause I thought you had to be physically taken in by another player to be put in jail. At first I thought maybe Harriet sent me to jail for killing a legendary animal but I’ve done that countless times in the past and never had this problem before other than a spray to the face. I do play on ps5 so I’m not too sure why this would happen seemingly out of nowhere, can anyone help me explain what I did? Or is this just a broken mechanic or something?

Attacked by disabled twins?

I was hunting around the river northern side of Valentine and while I was stowing a duck on my horse I got grabbed by a yellow shirted man who seemed to have microcephaly, I fought him back before another identical man came up behind me and they proceeded to beat me to death, I haven't been able to find them again and I don't see anything about it online so I was wondering if that's a regular occurrence? I don't play often and I'm still discovering the game.

Okay 10 minutes later I haven't posted it because I did some more researches and I found who that was supposed to be but why would he be doubled and why attack me in a random river out of story mode? LMAO
