Bristol nights to keep an eye out for?

Hi crew,

Moved to Bristol end of last year - there's tons of 140, bass and dubstep nights which is lovely. Any particular collectives/organisers/ sound systems to keep an eye out for on Headfirst etc? Thanks.

Tune that got you hooked?

When the sound was brand new, what’s the tune that got you hooked and there was no turning back? For me it was Loefah-Ruffage.

Speakers and amp suggestions to give?

Hey everyone!

Noob in technical matter here. I just know about frequency range lol.

I'm trying to build a stereo setup from scratch and my main genre is our beloved real dubstep. So i'm speaking to my people, sub-bass that hits you in the chest.

But I also listen to a fair amount of IDM, orchestral stuff (game OSTs, classical), techno and raï (north african music), so I need something that doesn't completely fall apart outside of the low end.

After a lot of research I landed on the Magnat Transpuls 1500 as my speaker candidate.

It has 38cm woofer, 16Hz extension, 95dB sensitivity, 3-way. It seems like a rare case of a modern speaker that can actually produce an excellent sound render all-in-two. Has anyone here tried them? Curious whether they hold up on more delicate material or if they're strictly a party speaker.

The other question is the amp. I'm looking second-hand, budget roughly 150-300€. What would you pair with them? I've been eyeing a Yamaha A-S700 or a Denon PMA-1510AE but open to suggestions, as i'm a complete beginner.

Thanks!

Orcehstral intro before drop, does it work??

Trying out longer intros, more thought went into this one but one thing after another and it ended up fully orchestral! I started by time stretching the choir midi from 2 bars to 4 bars effectively doubling the time it took to complete a loop (Humana vocals Reason plugin). Then I added NN-XT advanced samples from Reason plugins for the orchestra, violin, cello, trombone and percs. I can add more to the crescendo but I wanted to see if this was a good direction before spending anymore time on it.

I can always try something else, so what do you think? Does it work with this tune or nah?
