Worth every penny

This thing is legitimately peak 4 x 3 It’s such a good size too. It’s not overly big, but not overly small either and the screen is insane. I’m so glad I got the ice blue. Still in the process of setting it up.

It’s here!

Gadies and Lentlemen, behold.

Ordered on 05JUL, arrived today 19AUG.

I’m loving this thing so far. Curious about swapping triggers and thumbsticks to grey. Anyone here tried it yet other than the digital mockups?

There was only one obvious choice for the first game I wanted to play on my beautiful new Nova

Burnout 3: Takedown looks absolutely incredible on this OLED display, and it runs silllllky smooth in NetherSX2. There are plenty more accurate driving simulators out there, but nothing will ever top Burnout 3 for the sheer satisfaction of violently ramming your opponents into walls as you boost across the finish line...

I took a chance on the Retroid Pocket 5, and it exceeded every single expectation.

Hi everyone,

I thought I'd regret buying a Retroid Pocket 5 (RP5) since I've used my phone with a Gamesir G8+ for game streaming; was thinking if my RP5 was going to be redundant.

It's been almost three weeks and I haven't put it down! I love that there are android ports for games like Balatro and Dredge. In fact, I never liked Dredge on my steam deck, yet for some reason I've been hooked (mind the pun) playing on the RP5!

Reminds me so much of my PS Vita since it was easily portable. Maybe I'm playing my RP5 more since it's so accessible?

While I have my steam deck and switch 2 that's been neglected for AAA gaming, the RP5 has helped me clear my indie game backlog.

Has anyone else bought an android gaming handheld that exceeded your expectations?

Nova - just some friendly reminders

  1. If you paid for the more expensive DHL shipping, but your tracking shows up as YunExpress, email customer support for a refund. I got mine quickly after.

  2. Russ/RetroGameCorps seems to have forgotten to include setting up BFI or CRT beam on his 2hr setup guide, but you can follow it on his prior video here. The Nova has a great screen for simulating that CRT motion flow, and to me it’s a must have feature turned on always on RetroArch. You can append another CRT shader to it as well like the gdv-mini-ultra-trinitron Russ suggested, as the Nova is powerful enough for it. I personally use that combo as my global shader preset.

  3. For those having dpad issues, I emailed Retroid about it, and they confirmed their technical team is still looking into it. They will send replacement dpads for those who need, but they’ve asked if we could wait just a little more for their final assessment before doing so.

Gamecube games crashing on my android handheld where it worked 1 week ago

I played dolphin games on my nova, even romhacks and everything was fine but recently every game crash, I restarted, resetted Dolphin and cleared cache but nothing works, this issue deleted my save in Mario Eclipse (now I have backups).

Even other games such as Pikmin 251 crash like after 3 minutes of playing

I even tried changing Dolphin version

Please help me and thank you for anyone trying to help me.

Automatic 4:3 ↔ 16:9 switching on Retroid Pocket Nova

I automated the Nova’s display resolution when connecting a TV — no root required.

Setup:
Tasker
Shizuku
Android Wireless Debugging / ADB

Tasker profiles:

HDMI connected → 16:9
Tasker → Profiles → State → Hardware → HDMI Connected
Tasker → Run Shell → Shizuku as default
wm size 1080x1920

HDMI disconnected → 4:3
Tasker → Profiles → State → Hardware → HDMI Connected (inverted)
Tasker → Run Shell → Shizuku as default
wm size reset

I added a 2-second delay after the HDMI event to let the display initialize.

Result:
Handheld: 1280×960 / 4:3
TV: 1920×1080 / 16:9

Everything switches automatically when connecting/disconnecting the USB-C dock / TV. No root, no manual switching.

Some BotW on my G2 while I'm taking the train today

I don't get the option to take the train very often, but I do enjoy it when I can. It's nice not having to worry about traffic, and getting some time to game a bit is the best part

Wave Launcher, New XMB-like launcher looks awesome on the Retroid Pocket 6

even tho it’s still in beta, it’s been really stable and i’ve been daily driving it. the team and i are releasing new builds almost every day with bug fixes and improvements.

it tracks playtime, have retro achivments integration, and a bunch of customization options

we also looking for testers, so join the discord if you are interested to try it: https://discord.gg/AFhRYrrUne

(i think i kinda like color red too much haha)

Metal Gear Solid 5 on the Retroid Pocket 5 8gb via Pocknix Steamos

I’m so impressed with PockNix! Don’t mind my aiming, my settings were for the Retroid, but I used a controller for this 😭
The only issue so far is the sound cracking sometimes. Not sure how to fix that yet (I did not test yet if that’s an issue with the Retroid speakers or if it also happens with headphones.

This is running from SD Card btw, I did not flash my RP5 so i can still switch between this and android.

Performance is 30fps but here im using lossless scaling to get 60fps

Link to the Project: https://github.com/shuuri-labs/pocknix-os

Oh yeah, I was also using this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/metalgearsolidvtpp/mods/167?tab=description
Getting SnakeBite Mod Manager to run on this is also possible, I think, but it’s too much of a hassle for me.

Is the Nova comfortable for playing GameCube/ps2?

Hello everyone!
I’ve only owned the Rg35xxh and with all the reviews coming out I have Been thinking of buying the retroid pocket nova.
I just wanted to ask those who own it, is it comfortable to play GameCube/PS2 games for longer sessions?
Just wanted to see the consensus if the sticks on the bottom make it uncomfortable.
I know there’s the ergonomic back plate you can swap out if that helps, how good is it?

Just been a debate if I would get the nova or RP6 with the stick on the top but I’d rather have the 4:3 screen.

Thanks to anyone who can give their input

Devo manter a compra?

Best way to manage multiple controllers with per-system button mapping on Retroid?

I want to set up a dedicated controller for each system I emulate when docked. One for NES, one for N64, one for PlayStation, one for Sega, etc. The idea is that when I connect a controller it automatically loads the right button mapping for that system without me having to touch anything.

Is there a good guide for this or a recommended way to set it up? Anyone doing something similar?
