Hey all - I started subletting my place in April (though this sub!) and am looking for a roommate to start the new lease with, since my current roommate is moving out of state for work. I’ve loved living here so far—the location is super convenient and I’ve had almost no issues with the apartment/building/area. I’ll be starting a 1-year lease and looking for someone interested in that term, with the possibility of re-signing assuming it works out.
About the apartment:
- Common area pictures are taken in .5x, yes it’s smaller in person! The photos of the room itself are pretty size accurate.
- Has dishwasher, central air, working video doorbell/buzzer, and small balcony
- Laundry in building, decent gym & roof access, & package room w/ key entry
- Utilities have ranged from 70-130 per person since I’ve lived here, wifi 30 per person per month
- Off Myrtle-Wyckoff, easy commute to manhattan on L/M
About me: 24F, I work full time at a marketing start up. My typical schedule is WFH mon/fri and in office tues-thurs. In my free time, I love going to movies (low cinema regular and metrograph/FLC member!), trying new coffee shops, and going to shows (lots of DIY, punk, post hardcore etc). I’m pretty chill and easygoing as a roommate—I mostly keep to myself at home, but I’m out often and not a huge homebody. I also travel usually at least one weekend a month and occasionally have friends crashing on the couch, which you would be welcome to do as well.
***On a scale of 1-10 I would say I’m between a 7 and 8 on cleanliness, looking for someone who’s the same or better! I keep the apartment generally clean always (no dishes left in the sink overnight, etc) and hire a cleaning service every once in a while.***
About YOU: ideally mid to late 20s non-man, employed full time either fully in office or hybrid. You will need to sign onto the lease so decent credit, proof of employment, etc. I have no pets, but cats are allowed (for a fee) and I would be happy to have one in the apartment! Totally down to just cohabitate or become friends if we end up vibing.
Feel free to message me with an intro to yourself & any questions! Planning to show the place this weekend and hopefully find someone/have you submit your application to the management company ASAP
Anyone know of a grocery store selling king oyster mushrooms? I’m tryna make a mushroom rendang.
Image speaks for itself. If you’re on the fence, now’s the time to change that! My rescue gurl changed my life 🖤🥲🦮
Hi! My boyfriend and I got a referral for house cleaner on this sub a veery long time ago, and we were finally able to try her out and she's amazing!! She's better in Spanish than English, (I'm horrible at Spanish but we've never had an issue communicating, we text in English).
She's very sweet and extremely thorough. If you need a cleaner or know someone that might, please DM me and I'll share her contact info!
So I think there was a post yesterday about someone selling Frozen Tetas in Bushwick - they’ve since deleted their Reddit account + all comments + the Venmo account I donated to. I am just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same…I reported to Venmo as a scam in case they try and resurface. What a bummer & such a terrible use of sympathy.
In case they come back, wanted to post here as a warning!
I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual after I started putting stuff outside that my family did not want anymore and we couldn't sell on the Marketplace. I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.
Thursday August 6th, I received 6 deliveries of donations (clothes, food, toys, housewares, books, DVDs). By Saturday August 8th the table is empty.
Items that are in high demand:
FOOD FOR PEOPLE OR PETS
CLOTHES
TOILETRIES
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
DIAPERS FOR BABIES & ADULTS
TOYS
BACK PACKS, LUNCH BOXES & POCKET BOOKS
Books really don't go on my table, so when I get a donation of them I wait a few days then I bring them down to the Little Free Library in PS 153's school yard.
Donations can be dropped off, and you can take what you need 24 hours a day & 7 days a week:
5938 60TH ROAD, MASPETH
Donations can be dropped off at certain businesses during business hours. Just label them Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table.

And now they’re selling the same traditional Norma biscuit for triple the price! 🤯
Found a well groomed well loved puppy on the street. Crossed the street on its own. No owners in sight for 10 minutes. Had a collar, no tags. Not neutered, likely no chip. Was able to grab a leash of my own and give the dog water before having to beg on the corner for anyone who could help me find the dog. Dog owners were finally found a block up from where I live but damn that could have gone a lot worse.
Hi
I’ve been building a side project called YourScene.
It’s a local discovery app for finding events, watch parties, bars, venues, and things happening nearby.
The problem I’m trying to solve is that local discovery still feels scattered. In places like NYC, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and Denver, people are checking Instagram, Reddit, Eventbrite, venue calendars, Google Maps, group chats, and word of mouth just to figure out what’s happening tonight.
I’m trying to make something that answers:
“What’s actually worth going to near me right now?”
A few things I’m building toward:
smaller local events, not just huge promoted ones
watch parties and fan spots
neighborhood-based discovery
filters for low-key / not touristy / small crowd / 30+ / family-friendly
live local posts through Pulse, so it’s not only scraped listings
better trust signals for venues and events
It’s still early, but I’d love feedback from other builders.
What would you focus on first: better event supply, better maps, stronger filters, community/Pulse, or onboarding?

Bugs/feedback: support@yourscene.app
Appreciate any honest feedback.
Barely used, comes with a bag of cables plus power supply
300 comes with a huge bag of patch cables (stackable and non) and power supply
Hello parents!!
Looking for feedback ok schools in the area. I have my kid that will need to be enrolled in 1st grade. We are thinking ps 88 or the new charter school opening next to St Mathias (open for others too).
Thank you.
I don't know what I hope to achieve with this message, but if one extra person sees this and gives this poor kitty a chance, then it's worth it.
Harley has been in the Ridgewood ACC for a number of months now. She seems such a sweet, gentle girl, very playful, but because of her age and a couple of risk factors, she seems to be overlooked. Now this lady is at risk, and my heart is breaking for this beautiful cat who knew nothing but a warm home and now, for reasons out of her control, is at risk of being put down for her age.
I know times are tough. I know adopting an animal isn't something to do on a whim, and there are hundreds of cats in these shelters that deserve loving homes. I know, I know, but seeing this girl's face every day on the website kills me.
I would go scoop her up in a heartbeat if I had the financial flexibility, but I don't.
If anyone sees this and is thinking of getting a cat, maybe your boy or girl passed and your heart is ready. Maybe you just have the ability to foster I beg you,
please save Harley. She deserves better.
Truly, fuck you. We’ve lived in this area for 5 years w/o any issues & today my friend was at Grover Cleveland Park w/ her 5yo around 4:30pm when a white man just came up, called her the “N” word to her face, called her child some demeaning names & harassed them. You really think you’re a big tough man, talking shit to a woman w/ her child at the park. It’s fucking pathetic & I know Ridgewood is better than this.
Passed by the other night and they were both PACKED with young white kids (looked to be transplants)… what’s going on? Since when did this happen and why?? So strange
