Anyone else feel like they can only handle smaller ring sizes?

Anyone else feel like they can only handle smaller ring sizes?

My current planner is the Filofax Saffiano Compact which has 15mm rings and even though the rings seem so small, I’ve found that that’s just what works for me. I think being left-handed has a lot to do with it as if my rings are full, it’s more comfortable to write on. Also I think bringing it places as my EDC is so much easier.

I tried a Moterm Elite cover, but the rings size was just too unwieldy for me. Which was a shame because it was such a beautiful cover. So I guess I’m stuck with sacrificing some things I’d like to have in my planner, especially because it’s also my wallet.

But what does everyone else think about using small rings? Am I the only one who really enjoys it despite the lack of space, or are there others like me?

perfect handbag for ring planner

What kind of bags do you use with your planners? I'm looking for a bag with enough space for my Moterm personal planner. But not too big... any ideas?

Finally found my dream Filofax: Pocket Pear Malden 💚

Since I discovered the rings system, my dream Filofax planners have been Kingfisher Blue and Pear Maldens. I’m so glad to have these in my line-up.

I’d still happily purchase a Personal Pear Malden any day, but I couldn’t resist this beauty when it popped up on eBay. This gorgeous Pocket Pear has been lived in, with a few small battle scars, but that’s what makes it even more special.

I plan on conditioning it soon but for now, it’s bringing me so much joy.

Also pictured: my other love, the Filofax Personal Kingfisher Blue Malden. 💙

Art Journal Set-Up

Loving my Pocket sized art journal for quick and mobile sketching whenever and wherever I get inspiration. Binder is from MeePlus with 13mm rings, in bridle leather that gives a firm backing to sketch without using a desk or other hard surface. The card holder (also from MeePlus) easily holds my miniature colored pencils and small protractor as well as my Sharbo sketch pen with mechanical pencil. Front and back page lifters were made from old comic books and recycled card stock.

Using my X4 to practice sketching

I was inspired by this video by Youtuber Paperful to create an anti-scroll journal.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=1QHkGSeOLpk&si=dtX3shJ2GfZzEE2Z

I stuck my X4 in my pocket 6 ring binder and added a mini color pencil set. I’ve been using this kit for the past 1 month and I either read on my X4 or Sketch in my binder (or journal/jot down notes). But today, during an extremely long wait at the doctor, I stumbled across this hack. I began to sketch my X4 sleep screen. I’ve realised that is a waaaay better device for art references as the e-ink is so much easier on my eyes.

How much does it weigh?

Here's something fun. Go ahead and weigh your planners. What do you carry around with you every day? I think I need to declutter mine.🙈

newbie ring planner user

For the longest time, I've been a Hobonichi Weeks user. I used 4 notebooks for different areas of my life. It was good until it wasn't.

I want 1 notebook (plus a small notebook for brain dump and random uncategorized thoughts) for everything. I tried TNs but couldn't stick to them, either too tall or too small. Hobo weeks is the perfect size but I'm getting tired of pulling 4 different notebooks and I discovered that I prefer having a weekly horizontal insert right next to thw daily pages.

So for July, I plan on using a personal (? I still get confused with the sizes) A6 size ring planner. Luckily, I found a shop that sells inserts that look like Weeks pages.

But I have some concerns. What took me a long time to try rings is that I'm concerned about archiving. With Weeks, after the year ends, I'll have a hardbound book I can store like a normal book. But how about the pages of a rings planner? Do you have a separate binder? Store them on boxes? Buy cheap plastic ring binders? DIY?

If I stick to a ring planner for the rest of the year, I'll have a lot of extra pages from my Weeks. Has anyone tried unbinding the Weeks pages and turn into ring pages? How do the pages hold up? I've seen videos of those who tried but have never seen any feedbacks or if they continue using them.

If I do the above, what would be a better way to use the Weeks cover?
