I’m trying to patch Advance Wars The Dawn After Ashes but it keeps failing

What the title says. I’m trying to patch this hack onto a clean 1964 Advance Wars Days of Ruin rom to play on delta using both the xDeltaPatcher and JSRomPatcher and I keep getting errors no matter what I try to do.

For Delta Patcher I can’t find an xdelta patch file and can’t find a way to change the file to accept a patch.

For JSRomPatcher I keep getting a checksum mismatch. Even tried the 1968 (Europe) version and got the same error code.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I’ve never had these problems when patching any pokemon rom and they immediate populated for delta to find. Does anyone here have any ideas on how to help?

Could starfox 64 and the remake for 3DS be modded to add online multiplayer?

Basically with the 3ds having download play and the n64 having local coop via controllers... is it possible to achieve a sort of mimicry of these methods but for online multiplayer style that way it can be done wirelessly and from greater distances?

Cracking the n-Space Engine: Fully Textured Geometry Extracted for all 46 CoD: Black Ops DS Levels!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reverse-engineering the proprietary n-Space engine used in Call of Duty: Black Ops DS (2010), and I’ve successfully cracked 6.5 out of 7 core subsystems required for complete geometry and texture extraction.

I have automated the asset pipeline into custom parsers, achieving 100% texture coverage across all campaign maps directly from the retail cart data.

What’s Currently Working:

  • NRF0 & BLZ Parsing: Unpacked the virtual file system and decompressed the ARM9 executable binary.
  • BDL0 Mesh Extraction: Decoded 3D geometry by replicating the DS hardware display lists and matrix stacks.
  • NSBTC VRAM Texture Decoding: Automated LZ77 decompression and successfully mapped Format 5 (4x4 compressed) with native hardware color interpolation modes, alongside Format 1 (A3I5) and Format 6 (A5I3) alpha splits.
  • SBC Bytecode Resolution: Resolved drawing-order permutations within the scene bytecode to eliminate all off-by-one mapping errors (no more untextured blank faces).

Current State:

I now have 46 campaign levels fully exported into Blender with native UV mapping and nearest-neighbor (Closest) filtering to perfectly preserve that crisp, 2010 native pixel-art fidelity.

The last remaining frontier is the Type 4 scene files (the dynamic portal visibility graph). I'm currently using an automated bounding-box (AABB) approach for layout continuity, but I'm actively working on the ARM9 runtime lookup logic to achieve perfect static placement without mesh distortion.

Tools, breakdown specs, and code will be shared with the community once the entire pipeline is finalized. Let me know if you have any questions about the display list geometry or the texture banks!

Mortal Kombat Enhanced Edition v2.5

Video Demo: https://youtu.be/SauRm3LBoc0

Improvements over V2.4:
- Character names in the lifebar (like on the arcade!)
- Improved Goro avatar on the Battleplan
- Improved Shang Tsung avatar on the Battleplan
- Hiding HUD on the Pit fall

Not too much improvements (in terms of number of items), but the character names in the lifebar was a hard one! It consumed a lot of time, testing and fixes in order to not hit performance or flickering graphics.

Download (patch):

How to Patch

  1. Grab a copy of Mortal Kombat.smd
  2. Grab Floating IPS: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1040/
  3. Patch your rom with the corresponding IPS file

Struggling to add patches to Persona 1 PSP ROM

I've been trying to emulate the PSP version SMT:Persona on PPSSPP as I've recently wanted to play through the older persona games. I have a ROM of the game which seems to run fine, but I heard that mods improve the experience massively, especially the UI upgrade, PSX soundtrack and improved encounter rates. I've been trying for hours to patch the ROM using Delta, but I keep on getting the same error code.

I've added screenshots of the error messages and the files I've downloaded. Any advice or youtube walkthroughs would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:

The links to the patches are:

[LoZ][ALTTP] Here's a comparison of the ALTTP Overworld, compared to my NES "demake" type map.

I released this Zelda 1 ROM hack a little bit ago to celebrate Zelda's 40th anniversary. The entire overworld and item progression is fully inspired by ALTTP. Even Heart Pieces have been added to Zelda 1's engine.

For anyone wondering. The game is called "Zelda: Mirror of Worlds"

Can you see the similarities? Essentially, this is my take on, "What if Nintendo made ALTTP in Zelda 1's engine."

(Ignore the little white text boxes, they aren't accurate)

[Release] Jurassic Park III: Island Attack (GBA) - Quality of Life Control Patch (Fixes double-tap sprint)

Hello everyone,

I've just done a QoL control patch for Jurassic Park III: Island Attack on the GBA. I don't think that there were any previous disassemblies or documentations on how the ROM can be hacked since I had to do the hack from scratch via Ghidra/BizHawk/mGBA.

The Problem:

The original 2001 game needed you to double tap a direction quickly in order to sprint. Critics of the game disliked this control scheme because it made running away from the Spino or Velociraptors (which required split second reactions) really awkward.

What this patch changes:

Modern Sprinting: The buggy double tapping control scheme is swapped for the modern Hold R + Direction control scheme which allows sprinting in both Isometric free roam and 2D cross-section levels.

Inventory Control Fix: The R shoulder button is completely cleared for sprinting while L shoulder button is now in charge of regular inventory navigation.

How to apply the patch: No ROM files are included in the repository – only the source code of the python script and offsets of the bytes that needs to be changed for your legal USA dump of the game.

I'm still trying to fix a lot of things eg the mechanic where you had to keep clicking B in order to break crates etc -> to holding B to break it.

Check out the implementation details or the documentation for the patch: https://github.com/getanirao/jp3-island-attack-patches

The Tales of the Heroes Twin Brave Innocence R Demo English Translation

The Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave – Innocence R Demo has received a complete English fan translation, making this previously Japan-exclusive PSP demo much more accessible to English-speaking fans.

This release is an important milestone and the first major step toward translating the full version of Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave.

I put together a short video covering the release, the history behind this exclusive demo, and how you can try the English patch yourself.
