I picked up a Roomba at a thrift store for $10
It was used but pretty clean overall

It needed a battery so I bought one for $30.
It works but makes a grinding noise. I did basic troubleshooting but it seems like it’s likely to need new wheels

I’m not sure if it’s worth trying to buy replacement parts that may or may not help, or if I should cut my $10 loses and just get a new one

Hi all, have just picked up a new 705 combo max, and I am having issues with the bin not emptying or frequently spitting out clumps/dust etc.

I have the setting at empty every 15m²/160ft² but often doesn't fully empty the dust bin, then it carries on and proceeds to spit out clumps because ethe internal bin is full?

We have two long hair collies currently moulting so I get there is a bit of hair and dander at the moment.

I'm new to the app, so is there a better setting, or can it be asked to empty bin after every room is cleaned?

Has anybody found any roomba tricks?

I bought a roomba 105 for mum as she moved in... great! She does a great job! But as we've cleared rooms we want to add them without remapping the entire house. BECAUSE we take any movable furniture and light items out of each room before she does a vac and mop. We do a room per every couple of days and the kitchen most days.

So to remap the entire house, we have to take all the light and movable contents in the ENTIRE HOUSE and put them in the garage. I really do not want to do this, I am not young and my mother even less so. Roomba makes life better but also dramatically worse in this instance.

I've never minded playing footsie with her in the first few minutes when she tries to turn right instead of left, but I do mind being a removalist for the sake of mapping. Does anybody know anything - youtubers seem to have the US version of the app, and Australia seems to have a slightly different one, so no joy there.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

We have a roomba that went dormant once iRobot got acquired and it’s been sitting in the corner of our living room for the past year ish. This morning, I started to hear chirps and beeps and the thing turned on and started cleaning the room. Is this becoming sentient? lol

So I manually put it to charge, it says charging (so it works)... But then after 10 seconds or so it leaves and tries to find it's own way to get to the dock to charge and it usually takes absolutely forever (up to an hour) or until it runs out of battery and I put it back in.

I've cleaned off the charging bits, the wheels are okay. It's so stubborn. Has always kind've done this, too. Any idea?

Is there any way to use the app to shut off the roomba when it gets stuck, beause I've found absolutely nothing online about it or on their site.

Often times at work it says that the roomba is stuck and needs help. It'll literally try to get unstuck until its dead, creating way more wear and tear than necessay. My house has tall thresholds and I've reluctantly taped cardboard to make a ramp for it to get out of its housed-room. It was going great until it started going off to the side of it and pivoting itself at an angle towards the floor and side of the cardboard or step. Sometimes it also gets trapped behind a door somehow, and again it just says its stuck and continues trying to escape until the battery dies.

This is pretty irritating if there's nothing I can do on the app if I'm not home.

My Roomba+ 500 series, disconnected from the WiFi about two weeks ago and I just now got around to trying to reconnect it. While doing so, it said it couldn't connect because there is a special charter that it could not use as part of the WiFi password. This is odd, since I was able to connect it without any issues initially, so I'm curious, is this due to some type of update in the past month, that caused it to not be able to use certain special charters anymore? Currently, the recommended solution is to change the WiFi password to something it can digest, but that would mean reconnecting EVERYTHING else that is connected to my home WiFi. Is there any legit patch or workaround anyone knows about?

I just purchased a 505X Combo. Irobot brand cleaners are the only approved mopping solution according to their site. Are others using different brands such Bona?

I found a deal on Facebook marketplace for a $30 basically brand new roomba i3. Is this model worth it for that price? I have never owned a roomba, just a standard cordless vacuum and standard corded one. I have a baby, no pets and a pretty open floor plan. Majority of my home is engineered hardwood with some area rugs and the kitchen area is tile. Just wanting something to run once a day for maintenance between major cleans.

I have an older i7+ that will empty the bin when commanded from my phone but not start a job. The phone says 'starting job' for about 30 seconds then goes back to saying 'ready to vacuum'. It is like my teenage kid, ignores command to work and just sits there without expression. Not a connection issue, just refuses.

The clean button on the unit will start a 'clean everything' job but I don't always want that.

Resetting the robot rarely works. The software says it is up to date with v 22.52.10. Sometimes trying again after 30 minutes or so it works...like when I wrote this post.

Does this happen to anybody else? Have any ideas to make this machine listen to me?

iRobot just published a new version of the classic app that fixes the WiFi connection issues we’ve been having.

I had go through the reconnection process for my i7. It’s now vacuuming the kitchen for the first time in days.

Bought a 505X from Amazon and received it today. I have been trying to get it to connect to the home app. It refuses. I’ve restarted router, disabled 5g and 6g networks, disconnected all wifi extenders, re installed the app, factory reset roomba (holding power on the vaccum down for 10 seconds, then on for 3), replugged the dock, and nothing is working. Been trouble shooting for a few hours now and can not find a solution. I keep receiving the error BFO2DO. My router (xfinity gateway) is not on the “troublesome router list” on their website. There are no special characters in my wifi name or password.

I’ve ran out of online support guides, the AI support doesn’t help, and their call center is closed. Any tips? Will I see degraded performance if I just don’t connect to the app?
