UCG ULTRA as a Breakout router for remote VPN phone ! Works But ! issue

So I need to create a remote phone capability to our business. I have a phone configed to work Thru a VPN. And have confirmed it works from inside the network. And to make it work from outside, I bought a Cloud Ultra and am seting up a "breakout box" so it could be plugged into any outside network via DHCP and get internet to this phone, I added it to my UNIFI Controller as a remote site / device* Was easily able to use SITE MAGIC, to create the VPN. Between it and my main site. Boom Works flawlessly. BUT there is 1 issue.

I used an unused public STATIC IP for Setup of the USG, configed Wan /Lan Boom works like a charm. If I set it to DHCP ( which it will need to be in order to be issued an ip from any outside network router). Then it still works unless the assigned IP it gets from that outside network router is a common one that we use internally here ( 192.168.1.0 / 2.0 / 3.0 Ect. THEN site magic says: Overlapping subnets = NO WORKY ! Obviously I setup a difficult uncommon internal Lan network on the UCG Ultra, that would never get matched, But Site Magic still see's that it got issued a common DHCP handoff IP (192.168.1.xx ), when plugged into an outside network, and one that is in use here, AND WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO WORK. So being a Newb ...How do I get around this ?

If the Outside network is uncommon ( not matching any of my internal subnets, Then it works Flawlessly !

It is really cool how the ultra can be added as a site, for ease of maintaining and seeing stats and access , as well as the ease of using Site Magic to create the VPN ....

Anyone else creeped out by the FBI remotely resetting thousands of routers? What’s your plan for EoL hardware?

Just read the TechRadar article about the FBI getting court orders to remotely wipe/reset thousands of compromised TP-Link routers because of Russian GRU malware (APT28)

On one hand, these old SOHO routers (Archer C5/C7, WR841N, etc.) are End-of-Life, have no security patches, and are basically being weaponized into botnets. But on the other hand, the fact that the government can just drop commands into consumer hardware at scale is a huge reminder of how vulnerable our home networks actually are.

Once a router stops getting firmware updates, it’s a ticking time bomb. What is everyone’s strategy here? Do you just buy a new consumer router every 3-4 years, flash OpenWrt, or move to hardware-level firewalls/gateways?

Finally I Found the Best IPTV Service Providers That Actually Works in 2026

I’ve honestly spent way too much time testing IPTV services over the last year because most of them end up being disappointing after a few days. Some buffer constantly during live sports, some have thousands of fake channels that don’t even open, and others completely disappear after a month.

After trying multiple providers on Firestick, Android TV, Smart TVs, and even mobile, the one that consistently worked best for me was TIVIPORT . COM.

I mainly tested it during football matches, UFC events, late-night movie streaming, and evening peak hours since that’s usually when IPTV services start lagging badly. Surprisingly the streams stayed stable most of the time, channels opened quickly, and the 4K streams actually looked good instead of fake upscaled quality like some providers advertise.

The USA and UK channel selection was solid, sports coverage worked reliably, and the VOD section had a decent amount of updated movies and series. I also liked that setup was simple with apps like IPTV Smarters and TiviMate without needing complicated steps.

Another thing I noticed was that TIVIPORT . COM handled peak-hour traffic better than most IPTV services I tested recently. Even during busy live events the buffering was minimal compared to other providers I had before.

No IPTV service is perfect obviously, but after trying a lot of different providers in 2026, TIVIPORT . COM is one of the few that actually felt reliable enough for daily use.

New Wifi 7 hub setup problems

I have just received my Wifi 7 hub with my new You 1000 plan, upgrading from my old Arris one. I have followed all the instructions, plugged the red ethernet cable into the red WAN port on the router and the other end into the ONT. The 2.5GE light on the ONT is flashing green, which should be fine but the internet light on the router is not turning on, and I can connect to the wifi but it is connected without internet. I have then tried to replug all the wires into the old arris router exactly as it was before, and now the same thing is happening. I am now stuck with no internet and Youfibre support opens on Monday, any help would be appreciated.

Need help with low wifi coverage and range

Hi, up front I do not know the correct terminology. I did read the wiki to try and understand more, but transparently I do have a learning disability so I was still very confused by all the vocabulary and how things work.

To keep things simple, I live in a home with 6 people. Our xfinity router is in the basement. My room and my other roommate Abby’s room are on the main floor, the farthest from the router. The connection is very spotty and often disconnects, especially when playing online games or sitting far from the door. Abby’s father works in IT and he suggested getting WiFi extenders.

I didn’t want to do that because I tried that for my parent’s house and it was worse than nothing. And when I looked it up people were saying it’s an ineffective measure. And I saw some suggestions of getting a modem and router or a combined one.

So what do I do? I have a coaxial plug-in within my bedroom. And if you can explain to me as simply as possible and include anything I may need to get that would not come with my equipment. I’m okay to spend around 250ish as my partner and I like to play games. And some of my housemates want to play BG3 tougher if that helps narrow down what I may need.

TL;DR: no knowledge around networking,
Please ELI5! have a communal router in a far spot within house, looking for the best way to get proper coverage to my room for online and solo gaming, it’s currently spotty and evil

Router help

So I have the Orbi mesh system I bought two years ago. (Don’t know the model). And my security score is low. I have the armor security applied but still says security low. I also red that the firmware has reached the EOL back in 2025. My question is should I just keep the router for another year or should I buy a new one now. I was looking at the NETGEAR nighthawk BE 6500 dual band WiFi 7. Side note not really sure what the NETGEAR Armor does. Is it still worth renewing/buying?

My D-Link DWR-M961 suddenly stopped connecting to the internet.

My D-Link DWR-M961 suddenly stopped connecting to the internet.

  • 4G/5G lights are blue
  • Wi-Fi works
  • Router status shows “Disconnected”
  • Red line between router and internet
  • No IP/DNS
  • Tried factory reset + different SIM cards

Could this be firmware or modem failure?

Why I’m replacing my parents' ISP router with a custom one and it’s not just for speed

After seeing how many "Sponsored" phishing links show up in Google search results lately (especially fake banking sites), I realized my parents are a prime target.

I’m testing a mid-range TP-Link with built-in adblocking and malicious site filtering at the router level. It’s basically a "financial firewall" for them. If the router blocks the suspicious link before it even loads on their iPad, that’s 90% of the battle won.

It’s a bit of work to set up initially, but the peace of mind is worth it. Anyone else here acting as the "CTO" for their extended family? How do you balance security without making the internet too restrictive for them?

Router is NETGEAR AX3000

Signed onto NETGEAR router wirelessly and connected without issue but no internet access.

Have very basic knowledge of all these networking stuff, what do I need to do to get internet data from modem to router?

What are the best affordable products for improving Wi-Fi Coverage?

I was looking to boost my Wi-Fi a few months ago, and have it cover some dark spots, specifically in my garden. I usually spend my free time there, and sometimes I need some coverage.

In my case, I didn’t even consider cost at first. My IT friend had told me to consider the size of my house and the exact spots where I wanted more coverage. I am saying this because I don’t know where you live. You could be living in a bungalow where you need more coverage.

I also did quite a lot of research and learned a lot about Wi-Fi extenders. I read lots of reviews on Alibaba and other online platforms, where I thought I had a chance of finding a decent one at a reasonable cost.

I discovered that many people opting for Mesh Wifi Systems were the guys who needed more coverage or had bigger houses. I don’t know whether this is your case or whether your budget allows it.

I eventually settled for a single extender: TP-Link AC750. I figured that while my house is not that big, I would still want to stream, and I was comfortable with the cost. I would still want to know the best option for someone with a really tight budget.
