I have been wondering how to recreate the guitar(?) sound prominent in the beginning of Sarah. It's not the rhythm, lead guitar, or pan flute- its the single chord/sound that plays on the 1st beat of the bar especially in the intro. Does anyone have any insight as to what it is or how it was made?

it’s nothing more than an illusion of being free

i heard that alex g was inspired by them, and i liked their hit song “float on”, so i decided to listen to all of the songs in a random album of theirs. i chose “the moon & antarctica”

i was blown away. i just felt so instantly drawn in by their music it was amazing. i can definitely hear a lot of resemblance in them and alex’s music. modest mouse has the same raw existential lyrics and that bittersweet detached dreamy feel. it’s a rock band so more reminiscent of alex’s indie rock songs, mainly his earlier/unreleased stuff.

modest mouse is now one of my favorite bands just like that. their music is so fucking good

any song from his released, unreleased, or a band he was in.
