Hit and Run today near San Tomas and Scott

Today morning on my way to work, I was hit by the car behind me and the driver took off by the time I got out of the car to get their info. Unfortunately, I do not have much information about the car other than that it was a dark colored sedan.

It was on NB San Tomas Expressway just before the Scott junction (next to the Service Now bldg (https://maps.app.goo.gl/E31cFvoSQCnjpVsQ7)

Just a long shot but if anyone saw it and have any information about the car, please share it with me.

How Did You Find a Good Apartment in Santa Clara?

I'm looking for a 2 bedroom apartment rental in the Santa Clara area, and honestly I'm having a surprisingly hard time figuring out what's actually good.

The problem I'm running into is that a lot of these apartment communities look really nice on Zillow or Apartments.com. Good photos, decent amenities, nice descriptions, etc. But then the moment I look them up on Google Reviews or Yelp, I start seeing dozens of reviews complaining about property management, maintenance issues, pests, break-ins, hidden fees, noise, and people saying things like "DON'T LIVE HERE."

At this point I'm not even sure if this is just normal for apartment hunting around here, or if I'm going about this the wrong way. It feels like every place has horror stories once you dig a little deeper.

Would really appreciate any advice from people who already live in the area. Are there better ways to find good rentals besides Zillow/Apartments.com? Are reviews generally exaggerated, or should I treat them as major red flags? Any apartment communities or neighborhoods you'd personally recommend looking into?

Ideally looking for a safe area with grocery stores, gyms, restaurants, and other amenities within a reasonable driving distance.

It’s happening. Randy’s Donuts sign has rolled in.

Sorry to see them invading sacred territory, but I’m also disappointed that it’s not the 33 foot donut on top of the building.

I have a plan. For the Grand Opening of Randy’s, let’s all go to Stan’s.

preserve Great America

PRESERVE Great America PERMANENTLY (This Time!)

https://c.org/HxrLGfgFhM

Voters saved the park by a 3 to 1 margin to preserve the park in 1984… the City or County must save it from demolition once again. Makes no sense to demolish this GORGEOUS Northern California Family Destination and LANDMARK when 100 vacant office buildings surround this Beautiful property!!

Even Jin from BTS visited Great America 😭

People act like our Santa Clara theme park is already dead, but it’s still bringing in visitors from around the world.

I made a Save Great America site with a petition, a simple email tool for local reps, and info on why the park is still realistically saveable.

LOST Dog, please CALL if you see him immediately, he's very skittish and the best thing to do is to call the number!!

Lost Dog

Do not chase, do not whistle, do not call out to him, he is VERY shy and skittish! He is a lost foster dog. Please call 408-677-6124 immediately if you see him with the location and time you saw him. You can call at any time, day or night.

He was originally lost in Sunnyvale but he is a very fast little guy and has been seen in Mountain View and Santa Clara. Yesterday evening he was seen in Santa Clara. Call at any time if you see him please!!! He is at risk of being hit by a car. He bolts, and needs to be confined safely. We have the tools to catch him, please don't try to catch him. People have tried and it makes him run before professional volunteers can get there and puts him at risk of being hit.

Hi everyone!

We're less than one month away from World Cup games here in Santa Clara(Or I guess San Francisco with how it's being marketed)! While we may have some extra visitors here to the city I wanted to make a thread for all of our incoming folks to ask for tips and share information with one another if they're headed our way. If you're a local, feel free to share your own tips for getting to/from Levi's Stadium, food recommendations, or your displeasure at the FIFA organization!

I'll have a list of our matches below for easy identification. I'll periodically be adding some information to the thread as well as things get shared.

How is Central Park Elementary School?

We’re considering securing a rental lease for a house near Central Park Elementary School for our child going in 3rd grade for the 2026-2027 school year. While the school has an 8/10 rating on Great-schools, I’d prioritize personal experience over online platforms.

Any comment about the area in general is also welcome.

TIA

Visiting Santa Clara for work — looking for a gym day pass near my hotel

Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting Santa Clara from Korea for a short business trip from May 20 to May 24. I’ll be staying near Lakeside Dr / Great America Pkwy.

I’m currently preparing for a bodybuilding competition in Korea, so I really need to get in a proper workout while I’m there. I’m looking for a gym nearby that has good free weights and machines, and offers a one-day pass or drop-in option.

I’m not familiar with how gym day passes work in the U.S. Do I need to book in advance, call the gym, or can I just walk in and pay?

I’ve seen places like American Barbell, Central Strength, and 24 Hour Fitness nearby, but I’m not sure which one is easiest for a visitor.

Any recommendations or tips would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Council Action

🚨BREAKING! If YOU don’t want your 10 Acres of our historic civic center lands given away to the Oracle Corporation, read below and make your voice heard this Tuesday, May 19, 7pm @ City Hall . BE THERE or CALL IN TO ZOOM ‼️

👉🏼Santa Clara is considering a proposal to move City Hall from Warburton Avenue to the old Agnews property near Oracle.

The proposal involves an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement between the City and VOP Agnews, LLC meaning no final approval has been made yet. The agreement would allow both sides to study a possible land swap and future development plans.

Under the concept:

1). City Hall could move to Agnews
2). The current City Hall site could later become housing
3). The developer would continue residential development on other Agnews property

The City says the current City Hall is outdated, too small, and spread across multiple buildings. Environmental review and future approvals would still be required before anything moves forward.

The City Council hearing is Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

• Via Zoom:
o https://santaclaraca.zoom.us/j/99706759306
Meeting ID: 997-0675-9306
o Phone 1(669) 900-6833

Or in person at city hall
You can also call your council-members as listed below:
