Fuck Scabies

Fuck scabies and FUCKKKKK permethrin.

I just finished and hopefully cleared my second bought of scabies in 1 year.

This stupid mite and the lack of prescription grade treatments available is ridiculous. If it wasn’t for Maxim Pulse, I would be so screwed.

Permethrin has THINNNNNNNED my skin and given me nerve damage.. I can’t feel soft touches as intensely anymore.

Fuck permethrin.

I just had to come here and vent. Such a frustrating issue to have to go through and the carnage left from the treatment is terrible… hang in there to everyone dealing with this, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I KNOW how difficult everything is. Sending everyone healing vibes and some peace and serenity… 💞

Is this scabies, had this for over 2+ months, it spreads over my body and itches like crazy, I’ve changed sheets and everything I put on my skin

Turns out not eczema, wicked scabies.

Been dealing with an insanely itchy rash for months, hands, feet, legs, groin, chest. I genuinely thought it was allergies and eczema flair ups. I went to allergist to find out I am insanely allergic to all grasses/weeds and I do lots of yard work. Thought that was my cause, as well as thought I was allergic to harsh laundry detergents, we recently switched to dye free/perfume free everything looking for some relief. Ive had eczema flair ups in the past on my hands, legs, groin, etc so thought it was just getting worse as I aged.

Then my wife started having the same stuff going on about 3 weeks ago, and we thought that was epidural rash/itch. Her OB at her 1 month post partum check sent her to the dermatologist yesterday. A week ago our 5 week old newborn got a rash that was diagnosed baby acne/heat rash, but in the week since it has gotten drastically worse.

Turns out the dermatologist yesterday immediately said we have scabies, and we gave it to our newborn. So heartbroken over troubling our little guy with this.

Luckily we got put on permethrin and our first treatment was last night. Because he is so young, our pediatrician said there hasnt been any known use below 2 months, but she said she would not want to wait another 3 weeks for her own baby so she said to only put it on for 3 hours and then bathe him, instead of the typical overnight for adults. I think we will do 3 treatments on him to be sure it kills the mites.

Hoping we can kill this fucking shit after the 2nd 7 day treatment.

Buncha pictures of me throughout the past 2-3 months and one of my sons leg. His back is so much worse.

God, there was times I wanted to cut my hands off to relieve the itching at night.

Scabies and pregnancy.

Scabies is ruining my life yet again,

April 2025 I was diagnosed with scabies along with my children (unknown to us ex's family had it)

April, may, June, July we fought to get rid of the damn things,

Did permethrin,

Derbac m,

And finally I used bb to treat along side ivermectin x2 doses a week apart.

Strict cleaning routine, strip beds, hot wash and dry everything, no close contact.

All treated at the same time.

Aug, Sept, Oct, - child see's ex's family = November

Boom I'm back with them again

Straight to docs derbac m. And got bb lotion. Another x2 dose of ivermectin.

By Dec 31st clear,

Relieved and so glad to be able to cuddle the children again. (previously scared to infect them as they were showing no symptoms but all treated at the same time.)

January 2026 = pregnancy = amazing blessing for us so excited to have baby

Feb, march, april = child see's ex family brief no close contact, (keeps distance) as wasn't sure if this is where we were infected. (but had suspicions)

close contact stays at ex's household unknown to us.

Within 4 days of being around said close contact,

April 2026.

Scabies are back.

4 months pregnant and scabies brillaint,

Derbac m prescribed by docs for whole family to treat,

Also ordered sulfur soap wash and sulfur cream.

2 weeks of derbac

3 consecutive days of sulfur,

1 week of derbac again.

Consistent cleaning, consistent apply creams with whole household and close contacts.

Seems to be clearing, spots aren't raised just slightly faded but still slightly visable. No itch.

3 weeks since treatment, spots seem more apparent again, (in the last week) in the same places as last seen,

No new marks/burrows.

Slight itch nothing major.

Dermo appointment can't be seen untill end of October.

Baby due just before then absolutely at my wits end.

What am I doing so wrong?

Literally at my wits end and will be staying well away from close contacts who have had contact.

Haven't cuddled my kids for months, mental health is declining rapidly, scared for unborn baby incase I'm still infected on arrival,

Cleaning like a mad, every single day.

Please somebody give me some advice. UK based. Products have been recommended from over seas but could be held at customs due to import.

Ivermectin isn't an option in pregnancy due to not enough details for complications when it comes to baby and arrival.

Maximpulse.com was a god send, and I really thought the sulfur had worked, but I'm doubting that now due to how the marks look.

Currently heatwave in the UK isn't helping my situation either and nobody else in the household displaying symptoms.

Success story! Don’t doom scroll

Back in feb I started itching like mad. This was predominantly on my abdomen, bottom, arms, and wrists. This coincided with getting a new puppy. Initially I thought it might be fleas, or I was allergic, although I’ve had dogs before and never had an issue. By the end of March it had got a lot worse and through a bit of research I diagnosed myself with a scabbies. I bought some permethrin, and applied as instructed. I bagged all worn clothes and washed and changed my bedding to he night before and after application. It didn’t work, so I tried again, and it didn’t work.

I then bought some dermac cream (£70 for enough to cover 2 adults and 2 children) and booked an appointment with my gp (im U.K. based so NHS). I told them I’d tried permethrin, and told them I was aware of research suggesting permethrin resistant scabbies. I asked to be prescribed ivermectin. This was prescribed. The whole family applied dermac once, all beds cleaned before and after first night after application, and I took the ivermectin. I was prescribed a second dose to take a week after only if more burrows were identified. I didn’t find any more burrows but took it anyway. I also reapplied dermac.

Since then no evidence of scabbies. Itching continued for the first 4 weeks but gradually improved.

This wholes process started in feb and as I write now I’m 7 weeks post ivermectin. The delays on treatment was mainly down to me hoping the permethrin had worked and putting further itching down to post scabbies.

Realistically I could have had this sorted a lot sooner.

I just want to point out that for the vast majority of people, scabbies are easily treated, like in my case. In fact the vast majority of people are fine after permethrin. But these people don’t post about it on Reddit because why would they?
‘I had scabbies, I had some cream, I no longer have scabbies’ doesn’t bring much of a narrative.
Please don’t doom scroll on here because it’s full of the worst case scenarios. People getting steam cleaners, obsessively clearing etc. for the vast majority of people this isn’t reality.

I fully accept that for some people this is the case but most people are just a bit inconvenienced like me.
I also accept I’m lucky to live in the U.K. where I can get dermac easily enough and ivermectin on the NHS. It only cost me the stand prescription rate (just under £10) and I looked online how much it costs privately and it’s a lot!

Anyway, don’t doom scroll like I initially did when getting scabbies, needlessly giving me anxiety

is it scabies?

hi guys i’m hoping you can help me out to know if this is scabies or not, i did ivermectin and permethrin. i got a breakout on first treatment got somewhat better and the second treatment a little bit more then a weak later broke out all over my hands with these little fluid filled bumps or just red spots and the area surrounding it being red as well is this a bad sign?

u/GuessPhysical1707 — 3 days ago

Scabies or post scabies?

I have done 3 treatments of permethrin (was only told to do 2 but I was para so I did 3) and this is my hands about 5 days after the second treatment, I have been scratching them a lot because I was with my gfs dog for a few days and I’m allergic to dogs so that hasn’t helped a lot but I’m not sure about them, they should be fine, I don’t have this anywhere else on my body

4? Ivermectin treatments failed ( over six months ). Mite resistance?

Started ivermectin treatments in Jan 26, although my first treatment was ten days apart, and I believe the timing was wrong. After doing permethrin a couple times, I decided to stop, as the chemical burn on my hands and genital area was not worth it. March, April, and May, all also had treatments, about a month apart each more or less. In May, it took about four weeks for symptoms to come back more strong ( increase in itching, particularly at night, flaring up of nodules next to belly button ). This was my longest break of real symptoms ( I.e. what I just thought was post scabies ). A dermatologist scraped and found a dead mite in a raised burrow on my hand, and thus prescribed me more ivermectin just in case - seems unlikely a month after treatment a dead mite would arise in a newly formed burrow no? Anyway, am thinking maybe there’s a resistance to the ivermectin, or simply I’m reinfecting myself every single time? I’m skeptical about reinfection as my roomates back home, whom I share couches, chairs, the floor with, never once got it from me in six months. Any ideas? Will try to find benzyl benzoate in turkey ( going on vacation there soon ) or Spain - and if not, then France or England.

Finally gone? Read this for a success story (i hope)

I am fairly certain my scabies have gone. I just wanted to share a bit of my story if that can in any way help at least one person to cure this disease. I got it, did the recommended permethrin treatment but it didn’t work and i’m reading that a lot of people have had the same experience. But also from reading a lot on here i did kind of think i was in post scabies because some of the burrows on my hands disappeared, however, then they started to show up on my feet, genitals and pretty much everywhere. That’s when i went to the doctors after about a month, i was covered. I’m from the UK and wasn’t confident on getting prescribed ivermectin, however, i didn’t even have to ask (from the Midlands). I was prescribed 6 tablets and then 4 for a week later, (68 kg and 5”11) they weren’t in stock however and i had to go back the next day, i think it doesn’t get prescribed a lot because they lose money on it and they don’t particularly have a lot in stock.

Anyway, they genuinely worked like magic, i took them with permethrin, washed everything, bagged everything that couldn’t be washed and the itching seemed to go practically a few days later. Admittedly, there are still spots on my butt and i had so many itchy fluid filled bumps in between my fingers as a result of the permethrin. I know scabies are different for everyone so i won’t generalise but the difference in post and active was so obvious for me and i think if you’re confident you’re in post, you most likely are Don’t over-treat with permethrin please, my skin is still very dry after a shower and it can ruin your skin, remember to moisturise as well!! I used an aloe vera moisturiser from nivea which seemed to help.

I’m sure most people won’t even read this, let alone make it this far but if you do i have a few main points.

  1. Get Ivermectin!! Beg your doctor if you can’t
  2. Don’t overtreat
  3. Get off this subreddit, i know it can be helpful but you can drive yourself crazy, looking back on it, i spent far to long on here

this is mainly for emotional support as i know how bad this disease could be, i would post more pictures as this was not even close to it at its worse, i hated to look at my skin and so i have deleted every memory and picture taken. sorry if this is poorly written also!!

Does anyone know what this is? It's spreading all over my body

Been experiencing these weird rashes or what looks like bug bites and it's gotten worse over the days... i have it on my thighs, ankles, between my fingers, etc.

Update: I went to the dermatologist and it was indeed scabies. Just started treatment, hope this goes away :(

Post reaction on baby?

5 days post the last treatment which was the 3rd time. This just popped up on my baby. It’s like 2 tiny pimples and red around it. Wondering if active scabies or post reaction or just random baby skin flare up. Babies get so many red spots acne etc that come and go and I’m second guessing everything 😭

reinfection??

hi guys need some advice, i cleared myself around the end of may and have been fine since- side note, i also do have chronic hives confirmed by a specialist- i had improved a lot and was even starting to come off my antihistamines for my hives + being cleared

however over the past week or so ive been getting really itchy, mostly just on my hands and palms making palms go really red specifically, the itching subsides within a few hours but the bumps are remaining? i’m so fearful that this is a reinfection- there are no burrows, just new rashes and itching. any advice?

Study says post-scabies skin can promote growth of staph a. bacteria

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articlesPMC4038468 /

Im 9 months since my first scabies treatments. Months 2-9 I’ve dealt with post scabies marks, pigmentation spots, “scars”, and most recently some pimple/boils on buttocks/small of back area. Great, just when scabies wasn’t enough, now this!

Found the linked study says your skin natural biome changes considerably after scabies and treatment. More staph a bacteria. And if you use Hibiclens or other strong antibacterial stuff, you’re killing the good bacteria like lactobacillus. Doesn’t help your skin get back to a natural state if you kill all the bacteria.

Again, none of this info came from a doctor I paid. Gotta find it all on my own.

I’m using salicylic acid body wash now occasionally as exfoliant. Doesn’t kill all bacteria but helps with post scabies acne/.boils. Occasionally use Hibiclens or benzoyl peroxide to spot treat. But now I’m consciously aware of my skin biome and the good bacteria that help crowd out the bad ones.

Are these burrows/track lines? Or just bed bugs/mosquito bites?

Can’t tell what’s biting me. No sign of bedbugs, and I also get large-ish, individual bites on legs that seem to point more towards a mosquito (example on last slide) along with patches of tiny raised bumps… Haven’t had previous experiences with eczema on legs before, stated a week ago. Itching bad during day sometimes but does get worse at night. Please help!
