I usually get 25 -35 fps,with shadows and projectors,ambient occlusion on etc. Randomly yesterday I am getting 15-4 fps (even 15 feels SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN 15) !! Only once I turn off shadows does it jump to 50. Keep in mind with shadows on OR off,I get MAJOR gitteryness/lag/delay when camming around,along with a massive fps drop. What is going on friends 🥺

I just found a day ago that my favourite sim closed, heartbreakingly. Genuinely my favourite place (and people) in SL since joining. The place had something of a niche too, so there's now a gap for it. (Although said niche also contributed to it's downfall according to the owner and manager.) - And no, it isn't anything particular outlandish.

With that in mind and feeling a little 'lost' per se, I'm interested in filling that gap and creating my own sim - specifically a social hangout.

I'd love to hear any tips or advice when it comes to starting and running a sim. I'll be looking at the SL forum in tandem, but more info and learning never hurts.

For context, I still have some land allowance to claim, so I potentially won't have to pay for land/rental. I still consider myself fairly novice having only put 2-3 years of *solid* time into SL (joined 2022).

anyone knows where me and my sibling can get free stuff/freebies? we're under 30 days new and have been to places like Freebie Galaxy and Palommas Plaza but would like to find more places like that. or even places where its free to join the group and get the group gifts like NOVA hair. anything else thats free is appreciated too especially shoes because no shoes fit our avatars. thank you!

After hanging around the SL23B live music events, I had a thought...

What if Welcome Areas had live entertainment year-round?

One of the biggest questions new residents have is, "What do I do in Second Life?" Imagine if they logged in and were greeted by a DJ, people dancing, chatting, and a lively atmosphere instead of an empty welcome hub.

Have one Mole there to host/ moderate the area, or have one Mentor host with tip jars available, and Mentors available to answer questions, and help new residents with things like unpacking boxes, changing outfits, or attaching items. It would give newcomers a place where asking questions feels natural while also keeping trolls in check.

Established clubs are a great alternative, but many places are already close-knit communities, and tend to not be friendly to newcomers and deem them as trolls. A dedicated social space designed for newcomers could make a huge difference.

I know having someone there 24/7 isn't realistic, but it IS possible if LL would invest in more interactive and engaging spaces for newcomers who wouldn't bail the moment they get in. Ha

I honestly think the first 30 minutes in Second Life are the most important for a newcomer. If a new resident's first experience is having fun and meeting helpful people instead of wandering around wondering what to do, I bet we'd see better newcomer retention.

Is anyone else having this problem when trying to withdraw funds? I’m a merchant, and I’ve been dealing with this error for a week now. I’ve opened multiple support tickets, but I always get the same response telling me to create a "guest ticket" (something I’ve already done), which is surprising since I’m a premium member. LL’s support is getting worse by the day; they’re abandoning their users.

And I also saw that there isn't a withdrawal limit in Second Life, because I do have limits on withdrawing.

I been making music for a while and one of the most annoying parts has always been splitting tracks for jukebox scripts or music players especially after BeanOS shut down earlier this year.

So I built a replacement that runs entirely in your browser: sakurasounds.xo.je

Here is what it does.

- Splits any audio file into SL-ready OGG or WAV chunks using the exact same algorithm BeanOS used

- Works offline, no server, no upload so everything happens locally in your browser.

- Has a notecard builder that formats your UUIDs into the sl_uuids format jukebox scripts expects

It's completely free, no account needed, no ads. I built it because I needed it and figured others did too after BeanOS went offline.

I remember watching my grandmother play Second Life when I was in middle school (around 2016) and she used to let me walk her avatar around a location and it looked like princess peaches castle (actually it mightve been) and I remember a room being under the castle having a hypnotizing floor and my sister says there was also a bowser/lava area but I dont remember that part. words I would use to describe it would be kind a like a wonderland or a cartoon castle. anything else i can provide I will!
