Rebel 300 available in Singapore?

I am a newbie 2b license holder and really like the cruiser look. I would love to buy one right now but the 2b options is either the 15+ year old Honda Phantom or the chinese Benda or Qji moto which I heard is difficult to find mechanics for. I might wait until I get my 2A to get the rebel 300 but I do not see any listings for it on SGbikemart or carousel. Is it possible to get one in Singapore?

Thinking of getting a BMW G 310 R next year – any owners here?

I'm currently not owning any bike, but I'm planning to take my 2A next year and am considering getting a BMW G310R after that.

Anyone here currently riding one? How's the reliability, maintenance cost, fuel consumption and overall experience in Singapore?

Would appreciate any advice or things I should know and if anyone has any opinions on it, thanks

How long and how much does it take to get Class 2B at CDC Ubi?

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of getting my Class 2B licence at CDC Ubi and would like to hear from people who went through the process recently.

I’m planning to start a degree soon and am considering getting a bike mainly as a form of transportation, so I’m trying to figure out whether it’s financially and practically worth it.

I’m also 156cm, so I’m wondering if being a shorter rider will affect the learning process or what bikes I can comfortably ride. Any advice from shorter riders would be appreciated!

Would appreciate if anyone could share:

Roughly how long it took you to get your Class 2B from starting lessons to passing?

Approximately how much did you spend in total at CDC, including lessons, tests, etc.?

How many months did the whole process take?

How much did your first bike cost?

Roughly how much do you spend on your bike every month, including instalment (if any), petrol, parking, insurance, road tax and maintenance?

Any other costs I should budget for as a new rider?

I’m mainly trying to compare the overall cost of owning a bike versus relying on public transport while studying.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Recommendations for Workshop

I'm hoping to find a place in the NORTH that really knows their stuff and won't try to upsell unnecessary work.

I have been to a few where I have a recurring issue and they keep fixing one part but next few days the issue reappear and they say it's another part that has a problem and the cycle continues.

Who do you take your bike to, and why do you recommend them? Any places I should avoid?

Thanks in advance!

Can you pass Class 2 if you only ride during school lessons?

For those who went from 2B → 2A → Class 2, did anyone here only ride bikes during riding school lessons and never actually ride outside after passing TP?

If so, was it still possible to pass the next licence levels with just the school lessons, or did you find the lack of riding experience made it much harder?

Curious to hear from anyone who has done this. Any tips?

LTA on changing motorbike rims, education & recommendations for rims.

hi, i own a 1st hand y16zr abs as p-plate rider so it is completely stock. In the future i want to change the rims of my bike. I plan on changing how my bike looks, but i want keep my bike legal as best i can.
This leads me to the problems im facing

The first is that i don’t the size of my rims because on doesn’t say on my actual rim itself. The answers online are kinda mixed up. some times it would say 1.85 x 17 front and 2.50 x 17 rear, and sometimes it would say 3.50 x 17 rear. Im not sure where to find the rim sizes on the owner’s manual. If someone knows the answer, please educate me. Im not sure if the difference in answers is because they are confusing it with the non abs y16, y15 or other kapcai bikes. For now im going to take it as the rear rim is size 3.50 x 17 which leads to my second problem.

The second problem is that It’s already quite hard to find aftermarket rims that is size 1.85 x 17 front and 2.50 x 17 rear because most of it is smaller than that. Im guessing it is because they are from malaysia. But finding one that is size 3.50 x 17 for the rear is near impossible. I manage to find ones that are size 2.50 x 17 rear but like i said im assuming that my bike stock size is 3.50 x 17 rear. LTA says we need follow the manufacturer’s recommendations, so technically changing to 2.50 x 17 for the rear would be illegal but even though i said that i would want to keep my bike legal, im wondering if they would be very strict on rim width? I know that tire “sotong” or rim “sotong” is illegal which i will never do cause it’s the worth sacrificing my safety over, but i wonder if changing from 3.50 x 17 to 2.50 x 17 will be very strict because i have seen many other bikes that has smaller width size compared to the stock size.

If anyone knows the answer to the strictness of the rims, how to find out the my rim size and if there are places you would recommend to find rims for my bike?

SYM Husky / Zontes / Mutt 125 — parts & servicing availability in JB (especially Susur 4)

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy one of these bikes mainly because of the bigger fuel tanks / longer range:

SYM Husky

Zontes ZT155G / G200 / GK200

Mutt GT-SR 125

Before buying, my main concern is parts availability and servicing in JB.

Does anyone here own any of these models and regularly service them in JB, especially around Jalan Tun Abdul Razak (Susur 4) where many SG riders usually go?

I'm wondering whether workshops there can easily source:

Regular servicing/consumable parts

Brake pads, chains & sprockets, clutch parts etc.

Model-specific engine/electrical parts

Body parts and other replacement parts

Or are these bikes generally harder to maintain in JB compared to the usual Yamaha/Honda bikes?

Would appreciate recommendations for specific Susur 4 workshops that have experience with SYM, Zontes or Mutt as well.

Thanks bros! 🙏

Are motorbike tyres cheaper in Malaysia?

I had a check on my rear tyre after about 15k kms & right side looks worn. A quick check in ChatGPT advised that it's normal for Right side of rear tyre wearing faster than Left because our roads are pivoted to the left (for rain water) for Right hand drive countries.

ChatGPT also advised normal durability of motorbike tyre is around 15-20k mileage. I check general tyre prices & seems that tyres are cheaper in Malaysia compared to SG.

Any tyre shops in JB to recommend ?

1290 Super Adventure T squeaky rear

Hi all, I noticed that the rear of my 1290 Super Adventure T (2015) squeaks when the rear suspension is engaged. I checked around online, it seems it could either be a suspension or swingarm bush issue.

I'm planning to bring this in for a mechanic to check it this week, but just wanted to check how expensive of a fix this would be? To be honest this is the first time I'm getting a squeaky suspension on any of my bikes.

Thanks guys.
