We’re not an ATM

Anyone else tired of contractors coming in to buy less than $10 worth of shit and paying with a $100 bill? Bonus points if the contractor sifted through multiple smaller bills to find the $100 bill

Can Painters Edge Plus be replacement for Painters Edge for touch ups?

Hi all!
First of all, apologize for me being noob in painting and asking stupid questions (but I try to learn).

Preface:

I have interior painted with Painter Edge acrylic latex in extra white (SW 7647 Crushed Ice if that matters) in flat finish (fine-to-medium orange peel texture underneath).

I need to perform few touch-ups (kids messed up with walls in last few years so need to touch up few places), and not ready for a full repaint ordeal in nearest 5 years.

So I realized that Painters Edge acrylic latex (https://www.sherwin-williams.com/painting-contractors/products/painters-edge-interior-latex, code: PE3000451) is likely discontinued.

Question:

Can Painters Edge Plus (https://www.sherwin-williams.com/painting-contractors/products/painters-edge-plus-interior-latex, code: PE4500051) be a replacement for the Painters Edge?
Will there be a naked eye observable difference i color/etc?
If yes, how strong?

Thank you for help and sorry again for stupid questions.

When am I ready for a store?

Almost 3 years with SW and I’ve been ASM at a small, (relatively) easy store for about a year. I’m debating whether to apply for SM at a similar store. I worry because I struggle with confidence and getting overwhelmed, so I’ve come to rely on someone else being in charge. I don’t want to crash and burn, and I REALLY don’t want to make the crew miserable while I adjust to the job. To the SM’s on here, how did you know when you were ready for the jump? Are there things you made sure to know or prepare for? And how do you deal with suddenly being accountable for everything?

Guy called 6 times in a row after we closed yesterday

You'd think after the third call he'd think to himself "hey maybe they're closed for the holiday weekend"

All we want is less than 10 days over load

Dear Corp,

Excluding those individuals at the end of their rope with the company.

Is it too much to ask for no more than 2 weeks a year, where one is not doing the work of 2 or more?

VP's need to get their underlings moved around to the stores that need.

This is a weekly task that can not be put off.

Anyone who does the fitness reimbursement through Personify, does my wife need to make a separate account to get her reimbursement?

One of my upper managers mentioned the reimbursement program and I filed for the quarter, but I don’t see a way to do it for my wife it only let me put in one claim for $100. Does she need to make an account? How does she get the money? If anyone’s done this before I’d appreciate the advice on how to do it.

Best way to quit for maximum benefit

Some won’t qualify for some of this but here is how to maximize your money.

  1. Take all your Flex Time first, they don’t pay you for unused flex.
  2. Put in your 2 week notice
  3. Start your own paint biz or go to a competitor .
  4. Step 3 will get you walked out but you will still get 2 weeks of pay
  5. Quit after Feb 28th , if you are participating in the 401k program they give you a % of the previous years salary on that day.
  6. when you decide to quit set your 401k to zero. That way you will get maximum payout for your vacation and last paycheck.
  7. If you get a bonus, never quit before the end of a quarter. You only have to work 1 day into the next quarter to get paid out any bonus due to you. That goes for the end of the year. Let’s say you want to quit in 2027. After Jan 2 you start taking flex. Then put in 2 weeks you would still get paid 4th qtr bonus. But, in this case you should try and make it to March 1st for the 401k extra money

like I said some don’t have all these things but those that do can maximize there last few checks. This should work in just about every district.

Today's rant: Happy 4th

Happy Fourth of July my fellow paint monkeys, let's share the dumbest customers we've had so far! I'll go first.

Customer walks in, looks at me, and asks if we're open.

I looked at him, looked around the store, and said no, jokingly.

He said 'oh okay' and left.

Did people start drinking early or something this year?

Good bye and good riddance but good luck

After a long tenure, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave SW. I’m deeply grateful to those who believed in my potential and gave me opportunities to grow here. To everyone still on the paint grind, I wish you nothing but the best through the upcoming changes. The company and upper management does not appreciate your loyalty and extra effort. Stop going the extra mile. It just becomes the new expectation, and they will never compensate you for it. Take care of yourselves and God speed!
