Kraken Slayer Top

I know it's been discussed here a lot already, but I want to get some specific advice on this.

I always play her top, and I know it's not the intended way of playing her, but I know several people here play her top as well. In pretty much all of my games, I go Trinity > Shojin, because it just seems to be the most rounded up option based on what I tried so far and seen here.

However last night I had a game against a Gwen where I got quite ahead but of course being Gwen still had some close fights. So I figured, I'm most of the time sidelaning against this Gwen, and Shojin isn't particularly the best item against her, so after Trinity I went Kraken Slayer, as I see it's one of her most popular items. Probably not as good with trinity as it could be with Dusk&Dawn, but I don't like it due to the lack of AD, specially for the early slots.

In any case, I noticed that at the end of the day I wasn't doing good damage with it anyways. It felt good when hitting camps or minions, reason for why it's bought in jg I'd assume, but the thing is that having low AH, as well with the lack of HP, I feel like I was just getting less Q casts (with the regular Trinity > Shojin build, you can often get two dragon Q rotations against bruisers). So I was doing way less damage than with Shojin, and all while being squishier regardless. Stacking attack speed also doesn't feel that much worth it. After the AS from Trinity, Kraken's slayer didn't feel like it did a lot of difference. MS felt good though.

This to say, I often find myself in situations where I'd like a good "dps" or dueling item for the second (or even first) slot in top, for matchups that I know I'm gonna have all ins (in this situation because it was a Gwen with ghost), but I don't feel like the stat profile of Kraken Slayer is all that good as a toplaner. I have my eyes on Bork first item against champions that build some health, and the lifesteal seems good for the laning phase itself, but I haven't been brave enough to try it out and risk inting my teammeates yet lol.

I've also seen Hullbreaker as a third option if I went attack speed items like this same game with Trinity - Kraken, but the times I bought it in games where I was spliting I was unable to infer if it was better than just the regular Shojin > situational build I go for, specially because with that one you have strong teamfighting as well.

So, any Shyvana top player that can give me a heads up on what's good on her top, it'll be appreciated.

TL;DR: What are good builds for Shyvana top aside from Trinity > Shojin?

I'm getting more success in AP build rather than AD

Let's discuss this. I'm not Shyvana main but i often pick her as a counterpick. Back then, i go kraken -> shojin -> death dance. But lately i'm going D&D -> Shojin -> Liandrys and i feel i dealt more damage. I'm able to deal 50-60k damage per game. The rest of the build is Riftmaker into death dance or situational. Rune PTA
Thoughts?

Shyvana dream changes

This is completely wishful thinking and probably isn't even necessary for the champion.

I wish her armor per stack increased on ult level up. 6/11/16. -> .35/.4/.45

I wish she could get stacks in lane cause I'd love to play her top lane. Maybe add a hidden bucket that allows the storage of a stack if you aren't getting stacks often. I'm getting this idea from how kayn form passive works.

(If you don't know, if Kayn doesn't get orbs for a while he has an invisible bucket that gives him additional orbs the next time he damages a champion)

So similarly if Shyvana doesn't get a stack in a long period of time. Like the time it takes for canyon minions to spawn again. She gets additional stacks. This would also help if you're getting heavily invaded as jungle Shyvana.

Lastly I wish you got faster ult charge when damaging dragons. I feel like this fits thematically.

Shyvana before she heads out to battle for some reason:

How else are we going to know she is a woman without perfect eyeliner and lipstick???

Shyvana got hit with a ugly brick, she look like a direct rip from dragon age gay dragon, and her kit is awful? old mfs damage spread?

Who's at riot actively trying to ruin the game? i get so curios, how did a champion older than mf, get all of mfs old problems? what happened in that drug den, at riot games where you decided to take a champion remake them into a old champion and update the skin to look so bad.

When to pick shyvanna?

I have a pool of 3 champions I play heavily in jg, being Yi, Jax, and nocturn. Im just trying to find when I should use shyv.

For squishy low cc comps I pick yi, for a team of people who have a bunch of dash or warwick, yi ,veigo etc, I pick Jax cuz of E stun and auto dodge, and nocturne into assassins cuz I find him personally easier to deal with them as nocturne.

For shyv when I try her she seems strong against most matchup but im struggling to place her as a "this is a def a shyv pick". Any advice will be appreciated.

Turning League Champs into E7 Heroes: Shyvana (Day 5)

Hey everyone, as an avid enjoyer of both League and Epic Seven, I’ve asked myself what if League had a collab with Epic Seven? I’ve been writing down my ideas for a *LONG* time, so I have decided to start a series where I finally post my theorycrafts. I don’t have exact stats and numbers figured out, so take them with a grain of salt and assume they’re basically relative to a full build version of the champ with most popular items.

For Day 5, I had to go for my favorite jungler as a dragon-lover: Shyvana! This one is a bit of a special case, as I actually have two versions cooked up. The first version is the one I made years ago pre-rework, and I made another separate one for the rework. Also, I don’t have an Artifact for this one. I’m totally down to hear if any of you have any ideas on to make one of Shyv’s most popular items into an Artifact.

**Hero Info**
> Class: Mage
> Element: Fire
> Constellation: Scorpio

- S1: Twin Bite
> Acquire 20 Fighting Spirit
> Shyvana bites the enemy with twin gauntlets, detonating Burns and increasing Combat Readiness by 10%.
> Dragon Form: Attacks all enemies.

- S2: Burnout
> Acquire 40 Fighting Spirit
> Shyvana shrouds herself in fire, increasing speed for 2 turns before launching a fireball, dealing damage and inflicting Burn for two turns on two targets. Increases Combat Readiness by 25%.
> Dragon Form: Attacks all enemies and applies two burns each instead.
> Cooldown: 2 turns

- S3: Dragon’s Descent
> Requires 100 Fighting Spirit
> Shyvana transforms into a dragon while descending on the enemies, dispelling all debuffs before dealing damage to all enemies, decreasing enemy combat readiness by 50% and increases own combat readiness by 50%. Grants the unique effect Dragon Form for 5 turns
> Dragon Form: Increases all stats by 50%. All Combat Readiness gains are doubled. Cannot gain Fighting Spirit

———————————————————————————

**REWORK**

**Hero Info**
> Class: Warrior
> Element: Fire
> Constellation: Scorpio

- S1: Emberstrike
> Acquire 20 Fighting Spirit
> When used on the caster’s turn, this skill alternates between three different attacks if used consecutively. All three attacks inflict Burn for 1 turn then immediately detonate all Burn effects, and increases Combat Readiness of the caster by 20%. Damage dealt increases with the caster’s max health. Counter and Dual Attacks use the first attack version and does not gain Fighting Spirit.
> First: Attacks single target.
> Second: Attacks two enemies.
> Third: Attacks all enemies.
> Dragon Form: First two attacks target all enemies. Third attack instead only hits a single enemy and cannot trigger a critical hit, but penetrates defense and ignores effect resistance.

- S2: Inferno Aegis
> Acquire 40 Fighting Spirit
> Shyvana cloaks herself in a flaming aegis, gaining a Barrier and increased speed for two turns and increasing Combat Readiness by 30%, before throwing a fireball at an enemy, inflicting two Burn effects for 2 turns and decreasing Combat Readiness by 30%. Barrier strength increases with the caster’s attack and max health.
> Dragon Form: Attacks all enemies.
> Cooldown: 3 turns

- S3: Dragon’s Descent
> Consume 100 Fighting Spirit
> Shyvana turns into a dragon and descends on all foes, dispelling all buffs before inflicting Fear for 1 turn and decreasing Combat Readiness by 50%. Ignores effect resistance. Grants Unique effect Dragon Form to the caster for 5 turns. Gain an extra turn.
> Dragon Form: Increases all stats and Combat Readiness gains by 50%. Cannot gain Fighting Spirit. Changes skills.

How int is this build?

I’m a Bronze player (will probably manage to silver) I’ve taken up shyv recently and have been messing around playing her top or mid having decent success. I take grasp as my rune red tree secondary with ult haste and extra damage on slowed targets, my build is trinity -> heartsteel -> Riftmaker -> bloodmail -> anti heal/hexplate/DD depending on the game.

My idea behind the build was because I wanted to build hs to become big. so I’ve put riftmaker and overlord into the build and grasp to take advantage of the HP scaling so that it’s not exclusively W using an item. I go trinity first item because it’s good and lets me do damage and get ahead.

What adjustments could I make to the build improve the build while still keeping the core idea of being a big large dragon alive?

Shyv rework

Dunno about you guys, but I kinda miss the old Shyvana. Back then I dreamed about a rework but now that it is here and I played it for a good amount of time, I´m kinda dropping her. Like Aurelion Sol, she just feels stiv now. They took everything unique about her and made it mediocare. Also is it just me or does the passiv just feels worse than the old one? Like to stack the old one was hell cause you had to secure dragons but jesus at least I feld an impact. Sometimes I have 30+ resistances which is 5 more than the old one and I still feel less tanky.

This aside after this good amount of time, what is your opinion about the new Shy ?

Builds

Hey guys! I'm rather new to shyvana and would like to know about builds! Is it the best to stick with kraken slayer into dusk and dawn or are there situations where full ap or full ad is better? What are the general go to builds for her depending on situation?

Why is Titanic not good on Shyvana?

It sounds like it'd be good but there are barely any stats on it online. Played it myself rather successfully, but Im probably missing something. Why is Titanic bad?

Master 400 lp playing mostly Shyvana Top / AMA

Some of my recent games

The elo

I've been playing Shyvana for at least 10 years. I'm not really a one-trick, but she's definitely one of my most-played champions by a large margin.

Personally, I'm a supporter of the rework. While I do miss some aspects of old Shyvana, I think the new version has much more impact, especially in lane (I mainly play her top lane).

One thing I really like about current Shyvana is how flexible she is. I genuinely believe that maximizing the champion means adapting your setup constantly. I change my runes almost every game depending on the matchup and team compositions.

Difficult Matchups (Darius, Ambessa, certain ranged tops)

If my team has little AP:

  • Arcane Comet + Teleport or Exhaust
  • Liandry's → Riftmaker → Spear of Shojin / Cosmic Drive

If my team team has a lot of AP:

  • Arcane Comet / Grasp / Fleet Footwork + Teleport or Exhaust
  • Liandry's → Spear of Shojin → Experimental Hexplate or Riftmaker
  • And you take Bloodletter curse

Tank Matchups (Sion, Mundo, Nasus)

  • Lethal Tempo + Ignite
  • Blade of the Ruined King → Trinity Force → Death's Dance / Experimental Hexplate

Bruiser Matchups (Aatrox, Irelia, Mordekaiser)

  • Lethal Tempo + Ignite
  • Kraken Slayer → Trinity Force → Death's Dance / Experimental Hexplate

Melee Matchups (Akali, Gangplank, Yone)

  • Press the Attack + Ignite
  • Kraken Slayer → Trinity Force or Duskblade → Death's Dance / Experimental Hexplate

These are the builds I've had the most success with, but honestly there are so many viable adaptations depending on the game. Don't be afraid to experiment.

As for Grasp, I'm personally not a fan. I feel like you end up lacking damage, and even on AP builds, the extra HP doesn't compensate for the amount of lane pressure you sacrifice.

For difficult lanes (where I usually go AP Shyvana), I rush the 900g Liandry component and spam E to poke constantly. The goal is to stop the enemy top laner from feeling comfortable enough to all-in me. I'm completely fine sacrificing some CS early if it means maintaining lane pressure. In my experience, lane pressure is much more important than a few minions because falling too far behind early often leads to an immediate snowball against you.

Another thing that I think many people underestimate is Shyvana's level 1. Her Q is incredibly strong. I often sit in the middle top lane bush before minions arrive and try to catch my opponent off guard. Best case scenario, I force their Flash. Sometimes I'll even commit Ignite to chunk them as hard as possible. Starting the lane with a significant HP advantage makes the pre-6 phase much easier and gives me a much smoother path toward my first dragon form. I also perma push when I have HP advantage so the toplaner won't recall until I'm level 6.

Also pray that your team don't perma fight and respect when you don't have your ult.

If anyone has questions or wants advice (especially for top lane Shyvana, since I barely play her jungle anymore) feel free to ask. AMA.
