The right ways to shoot and grade in DaVinci? (FP newbee) (Workflow hunt)

Hallo. I've purchased a Sigma FP, with the 45mm contemporary lens for 1000€, I thought it was a great deal. And now that I possess it, why not to get to shoot and grade some.

As an EOS M user, it's a bit of an upgrade for me, yet the cDNG quirks are a tan bit different here then on the M.

Hence is why I'd want to ask you, to turn this into a knowledge hub, perhaps someone got some pretty decent techniques to widen the Dynamic range of the shot content, deal with the overcast weather, deal with the highlight roloff, with that weird baked in tint and white balance shift when imprinting into DaVinci. Or the most importantly, the color accurate method.

Also would like to ask which Sigma color profiles you use when shooting, as they are also baked in to the footage, unlike the EOS M, which bypasses all the pic profiles.

The more complete guides would be well appreciated.

I thank you all in advance, hope this community keep on growing. 🫰

August 12 eclipse captured by Sigma FP

The FP is great astro cam !! Awesome sensor, especially at low light behind its IR filter.

Sun captured in the hydrogen-alpha spectrum with a 40mm lunt telescope.

Which solar front filter for Sigma 20mm f/1.4 dg hsm art EF mount ?

So far I used this lens on my EOS cameras with the simple Canon EF to RF mount adapter for nightly astrophotography and daily urban architecture. The eclipse gave me ideas I'd like to test with the sun, so I need a solar filter.

There are Canon versions of that mount adapter allowing drop-in filters but only CPL and small stops ND. Breakthrough Photography has Canon compatible drop-in filters but doesn't provide solar filters -- as far as I saw the best they have is a variable drop-in ND filter up to 16 stops which doesn't cut IR or UV enough so it's a no.

Up to recently I though that front filters didn't go on this bubbly lenses but I came across this YouTube lens review (for the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 sony mount though but still) where at approximately 7min34s the guys starts putting a front filter mount on the lens.

The guy doesn't mention the filter on the gear he lists in the details of the video, but it looks like the NiSi S6 ALPHA 150mm Filter Holder that has even a version dedicated for my 20mm lens. But NiSi doesn't provide a 150mm solar filter though. I looked for analogue filter mounts from others brands, found nothing.

What would be my options?

Sigma FP ND filter

Just got a brand new FP strictly for video, and wondering if there is anyway to reconcile an ND filter that is at least 58 mm on a step-up ring with the original lens hood in place, which I love. Would appreciate your insights and would love hear what your ND set-ups are.

Edit: I have only two lenses so far: Sigma 45 mm (which takes 55-mm filters) and Canon EOS 50mm 1.4 (58 mm ND filters). Just bought a 67mm 1-5 ND with a 55-67 brass step-up ring.
