Is this still a silkie?
Our "silkie" has some feathers and some fluff.. is it still considered a silkie?

Collected our new babies yesterday!
(2 mottled and a ginger)
We have flora, yolky and our grey mottled will be named by a competition we’re holding for the kids in our family.
So happy 🥰
my 4 silkies turned 8 weeks today and i’m wondering about their gender. ik with silkies it’s hard to tell unless they’re laying but if you had to guess what do you think? i’m pretty sure salt is a rooster but now im thinking spice might be too, he has a wide stance is the fluffiest. pepper is the biggest
Hi! I have three silkies 12 weeks old & grown from eggs from a farm that had silkie rooster but a mix of other chicken breeds together.
I’m wondering if you can tell their gender yet, but also if the 2 with pink crow are mixed breed and the one with black is pure? Also the black crow is lumpy could it be a boy or too soon to tell? Thanks
Hello! I need some serious input and help. I am trying to figure out what to get as far as a coop and a run and I’m stressing out, probably way more than I should. First off, I will say that yes I’m buying prefab as an interim until we can get a custom coop or a better setup. However, even though it’s interim (maybe 6mo-1year?) I want to still give my babies the best possible.
My questions are for those that have silkies already- how do they handle ramps? I have heard that they don’t like steep ramps because of their lack of flying ability, but how steep are we talking? Every coop/run I look at has a ramp and I’m worried I buy one and they won’t use it.
Also, what do you do for covering? I’m in the South and we have a lot of random storms, and as far as I’m aware, a wet silkie is a dead silkie. So when possible I plan on keeping them safe in the coop, but I would like to cover the run and have proper drainage.
Any advice is more than welcome, I am a notorious over thinker, but I’m already head over heels in love with my babies and want to do right by them.
**side note- I know I will more than likely need to swap out any mesh or chicken wire they have on the coop/run with hardware cloth, and I know to protect from critters digging under the edge with concrete, more cloth, etc.
She's 6 and a halve weeks so I know its pretty young and hard to tell. We have 4 silkie chick's and she's the most dominant one so I wondered what she is and if anyone could take a look
I have four other silkies and none make this noise like what is this? i have already suspected this one is a rooster because his comb has been RED since 3 weeks old but he recently started making these noises. he’s about 7 weeks old
Here’s a top view of one of my chicks and I am pretty sure she’s going to be a frizzle, and maybe her sibling?
The one with the more flared out wings is Mori, and then Nix comes up next to her. Oh and adding the picture of the other two in the corner with Hecate and Maeve (the one who is giving serious side-eye 🤣).
Does anyone know what colors these would be? The buffs are obvious but wasn't sure if they were all just "buff" thanks in advance!
I’m near KC MO. Are there any reputable silkie hatcheries you recommend?
How do I determine if they are good quality or not? I’ve read buying them from retail ends up with less fluff etc.
Thank you!
