Stuck on fry scream for months (metalcore/deathcore). Feeding audio to an AI for feedback because I'm lost. Anyone else been here?
I've been practicing fry vocals for a few months now, focusing on deathcore, early 2000s metalcore (SxE), and skramz. Honestly, I feel like I've hit a complete wall and haven't made any real progress.
I know the throat positions and physical feedback by heart, but a friend of mine recently told me my foundation sounds completely wrong. Since I don't have a vocal coach, I've actually resorted to sending my raw audio attempts (vowels, basic rumbles) to an AI to get technical feedback on my distortion and breath support. I know it sounds weird, but I couldn't think of any other way to get an objective analysis of my audio.
Has anyone ever been in a similar situation where they felt completely stuck? How did you break through? Any advice on how to transition a safe, compressed "buzz" into a proper scream with actual volume and body would be massive. Thanks!
