Talk Me Into Choosing Skylight?

I've been comparing digital calendars for weeks, trying to choose one over the others. I have it narrowed down to Cozyla, Apolosign and Skylight. My main focus is the chore rewards for kids. The rest is a bonus for me as my family doesn't adhere to a strict schedule.

Is Skylight limited compared to other digital calendars? Is the cost of the subscription worth it?

We are a neurospicy family so really trying to get important things front and center.

Why do you like Skylight and how does it make your life easier, if at all?

Is the Skylight Calendar worth it for our situation?

My wife is a very high-achieving person professionally, but she struggles with simple day-to-day tasks and household chores due to worsening ADHD. We’re considering mounting the Skylight Calendar Max in a high-traffic area so it’s always visible and easy to interact with.

The goal would be to:
- Visualize upcoming events and schedules
- Keep a daily/weekly/monthly chore list
- Reduce the mental load of remembering tasks
- Create more structure and consistency at home

For those who use it, has it actually become integrated into your daily life, or does it eventually become “background wallpaper” that gets ignored? Has it genuinely helped simplify routines and task management for ADHD households?

Would love honest feedback before pulling the trigger.

Calendar 2 vs 1

I was going to purchase the skylight from Sam’s Club. I like that it came with 3 years of plus. I saw there was a skylight two that just came out, liking the one from hearth and hand collection at target. What’s is everyone’s thoughts on calendar 1 vs 2?

Profiles & Labels

🏷️ NEW FEATURE ALERT!

Profiles & Labels just got an upgrade, live for everyone TODAY — We think your calendar is going to feel a whole lot more organized. 🎉

Ever used a Skylight Profile for something that isn't really a person — like "Soccer," "Work," or "Family Dinner"? Now you can convert those into Labels, keeping your calendar organized around both the people in your life and the things happening in it.

Or, are you someone who synced an calendar and saw a bunch of new labels show up? NOW, easily clean up those labels and keep your filters and calendar tidy.

  • 👤 Profiles stay for the people (or pets 🐾) in your household
  • 🔄 Convert any Profile into a Label (or Label into a Profile) without losing your events
  • 🏷️ Labels are now their own dedicated section — for life's categories and themes
  • ✨ Add emoji to your Labels from a curated library to make them easy to spot
  • 🔀 Merge Labels with Labels to clean up duplicates or old Profiles (after you've converted the profile to a label)

Tip: Convert unwanted Profiles to Labels, then, add a new "Archive" label and merge anything you're not using into it to tidy up!

Skylight or a different calendar?

hi!
I’m looking to possibly buy a skylight calendar or a similar calendar of the sort but was hoping for honest opinions and feedback. Would you recommend the skylight calendar or is there a different calendar you’d recommend more?

For context I’m a senior in college and am looking to get a calendar to display my whole week with all my appointments and possibly use any features that are also part of it (like the grocery shopping list)

thanks!

Show task every day until due day

Not sure if this has been suggested yet but I often have tasks that need to be done by a certain day, but I can do them any day before that - I'd like a way to toggle tasks so they remain visible until the day they are due with a countdown as opposed to only being visible the day it's due.

Detailed Training on Skylight Calendar

I would love to find an in depth training on the Skylight Calendar - how best to use, set-up, etc. I've looked on Skillshare and Udemy but there's nothing there. The videos I've found on YouTube have either been short videos on features directly from Skylight which are great but do not provide enough detail on the full suite of capabilities of the calendar; or I've found review videos from influencers comparing multiple calendars or just reviewing Skylight. Is there anything out there that I'm missing?

Apology

Earlier this morning, I posted a pretty heated rant about my experience trying to buy a Skylight Calendar Plus subscription. I admitted in that post that the whole thing was my own fault, but honestly, airing it out so publicly wasn’t really fair of me.

That said, I wanted to come back and give a proper thank you to Mikel and the Skylight support team. They reached out directly and had my issue sorted within an hour. Not only that, they genuinely went out of their way to help me, which I really wasn’t expecting after how rude I’d been in my original post.

It’s pretty rare to get that kind of quick and empathetic response from a company these days, especially when you haven’t exactly been kind to them online.

Thank you, Skylight. Seriously.

Anger About Skylight Subscription

Since this subreddit is for sharing “tips and tricks” and not customer service issues, consider this a “tip” on how not to make the same mistake that I just made.

We received a Skylight Calendar for Christmas this past year. After setting it up, I tried forwarding a photo to it via email, but received an automated email response that said: “You recently sent some love to a Skylight that is currently on the Skylight Basic plan…” and told me I needed to subscribe to Skylight Plus in order to use the photos feature. Since the cost was so high, I decided not to subscribe.

However, my daughter’s graduation party is this afternoon, so I decided to bite the bullet and pay for it so we could use the photos feature. I went back to the automated email from December, clicked on the Upgrade to Plus link, and paid for the subscription. I waited for the Calendar to update with the subscription, but that never happened.

I checked the app and discovered that the link that I received in the email from Skylight actually took me to the page to purchase Skylight Frame Plus, which is what I did. Now I have paid for an annual subscription to Frame Plus—which is for a device I do not have—and now I have to pay for ANOTHER subscription in order to use what SHOULD be (what most people on this subreddit seem to also agree) a basic function of a $300 device.

To backtrack what happened, I went back to the automated email, clicked on the link Skylight sent me, and it took me to a page that doesn’t even have an option to subscribe to Calendar Plus. Frame Plus is the only option.

I realize that I shouldn’t have been in such a hurry to load the photos that I didn’t pay more attention to what I was purchasing. I just (stupidly) assumed that the email Skylight send me from my Calendar would have taken me to a page that actually offered the Calendar Plus subscription.

I’m sure when I attempt to cancel the Skylight Frame subscription, I won’t get a refund. Needless to say, I’m very frustrated…and my daughter’s graduation party begins in 4 hours.

Moving items between lists

Is there a way to move items between lists? We split our groceries between several stores, each which I have made a separate list so we know where we want to buy things. I’d love to move items once added from a recipe to different lists based on where I plan to purchase.

I accidentally set a calendar date from June 1st 2026 - June 1st 3742

I am posting this in hopes it helps someone in the future because I spent all morning trying to figure out why both my phone and my wife's phone kept crashing any time we opened the Skylight calendar app. We could access all of the other tabs, but for some reason the calendar kept crashing. it got to the point we were thinking of finding a new app.

I'd restarted, reinstalled, restarted, on and on like you'd do if any app if giving you issues. Skylight's wimpy AI, and customer service who told me to restart and reinstall (after I told them I already did) had no help to offer me.

I logged in on my PC, and the calendar was slow to load, but whereas the iPhone's kept crashing, the PC's processing power worked through and loaded the calendar. I saw an event on June 1st was covering the full month of June so I opened the event and it turns out I had accidentally set a calendar date from June 1st 2026 - June 1st 3742. The Skylight app for iPhone was unable to deal with a 1,700 year event!

Removing the meal plan from the main calendar

Can you remove the meals from the calendar and only have them in the “meals” section?

I don’t want to clutter my daily calendar with the meals but do want to utilize the meal planning format.

Skylight Connectivity Issues and Lack of WPA3 Support

Here's a tip if you're not able to connect to WiFi: My wife was not able to get the new skylight calendar to connect to WiFi so I assisted with some troubleshooting. I found that it connected when I switched my Wifi security from WPA3 to WPA2. If the skylight is truly incompatible with WPA3 then that is a huge oversight, shortfall, whatever you want to call it because now I have to sacrifice better security on my entire network, for one single device that is not compatible with a security protocol that came out 8 years ago. Do better skylight, this should be one of your highest priorities.

Is there a way to prevent kids from adding stars within the app?

Everyone has the app so they can see tasks and add their events. There doesn't seem to be a 'parent' mode or anything even. I haven't had an issue with them adding stars, but I noticed they had the option to do so.
