New user - no input signal from selected audio interface

Hi,

Just came across this awesome project. I installed v1.4 on Mac. And selected correct input about output usb audio interfaces. Tried Scarlet and my fm9. The out put works perfectly and I can audition many sounds etc. but the input signal is not coming through to sound shed. The audio interface is receiving the guitar input.

I Must be missing something small as it looks like input devices I tried are set up correctly in the sounded settings and the correct channels of the audio device are set.

I have not tried and older version.

Any suggestions?

Al

Release 1.4.0

Version 1.4.0 brings (experimental) MIDI parameter mapping and automation, a new Signal Analyzer utility, broader audio format support, and a big round of Jam and UI improvements.

I don't have a decent midi controller so midi mapping feedback is especially appreciated!

Highlights

  • MIDI parameter mapping and automation workflows, plus direct MIDI setlist bank selection.
  • macOS version is now signed & notarized which removes security warnings when installing.
  • New Signal Analyzer utility effect with LUFS loudness measurement and bark band perceptual analysis.
  • IR Cab, riff import, and demo audio now support AIFF/AIFC and MP3 in addition to WAV.
  • New folder browser with favorites, tagging, and filter-by-tag support for local resources.
  • Jam tab is now enabled on macOS and Linux with substantial layout and interaction improvements.

MIDI & Automation

  • Added MIDI parameter mapping and automation workflows.
  • Added direct MIDI setlist bank selection, plus bank up/down behavior fixes.
  • The UI now updates parameter values immediately when controls change via MIDI.

DSP & Audio

  • Revised NAM calibration support for chained NAMs.
  • Reviewed NAM calibration handling for stereo vs. mono signal paths and added a post high-pass DC blocker (5 Hz) to match the reference gateway.
  • Added low-latency mode for IR Cab and IR Reverb, with low latency now used by default for IR Reverb.
  • IR Reverb output balancing now uses L2-normalized gain for more consistent loudness.
  • Fixed EQ artifacting when adjusting EQ parameters.
  • Improved mono ping-pong delay behavior to preserve a correct mono main path.
  • Fixed blend effect behavior and improved live model blend preview.

Audio Import & Formats

  • IR Cab loading, riff import, and demo audio now support AIFF/AIFC and MP3 files in addition to WAV, via a new shared multi-format audio decoder.

Signal Analyzer

  • Added a new Signal Analyzer utility effect for real-time signal level diagnostics.
  • Added LUFS loudness measurements to the Signal Analyzer.
  • Added bark band perceptual analysis to the Signal Analyzer.
  • Signal Analyzer now supports mono/stereo input modes.

Presets, Library & Resources

  • Added a new folder browser with favorites and preview support for local resources.
  • Added tagging and filter-by-tag support to the resource and folder browser, plus general UI polish.
  • Added an architecture filter and improved navigation for NAM models in the resource browser.
  • Added prev/next selectors for stepping through resources without leaving the browser.
  • Added a calibration indicator to show when a NAM model includes calibration data.
  • Preset import now creates the destination folder when needed.
  • Fixed "Save New Preset" flow where a newly created preset could be empty.
  • Added library resource delete support.
  • Fixed Tone3000 BYOK loading/authorization flow and added favourites support in BYOK mode.
  • Improved startup and browsing performance by optimizing resource loading and deferring heavy tone/jam loads at startup.

Jam, UI & UX

  • Jam tab is now enabled with substantial layout and interaction improvements.
  • Fixed Jam video playback integration issues including CORS handling, scrolling, touch drag, and WebKit docking behavior.
  • Migrated UI icons to SVG assets for cleaner and more consistent cross-platform rendering.
  • Expanded and consolidated theme/layout work (including light/classic refinements) and improved general UI consistency.
  • Reworked UI assembly/components architecture for a more maintainable and flexible interface foundation.

Platform & Packaging

  • Windows installer now allows choosing a custom install location.
  • macOS installer package is now signed and notarized

Stability & Internal Improvements

  • Reduced unnecessary UI updates caused by DSP performance stats.
  • Fixed live DSP stats updates.

Can the included presets be deleted?

Hi I have been experimenting with this app for about a week now and was wondering how I can delete the included presets? They are crazy loud and when I accidentally switch to them my speakers and ears hurt haha. If so please let me know how and where I can get rid of all of them as I only want my own presets that I will build. In addition when I delete the folders the presets are in, and then relaunch soundshed the same folders are restored. I tried poking around in the Mac app contents but no luck. Also some extra bits of feedback (running on m4 mbp with Tahoe 26.5.1):

- pressing "CMD ," on Mac should open the settings (like it does with other apps and in the OS)

- I get asked for microphone permissions like 5 times everytime I open the app, why is that? I can share logs if you like to help diagnose.

- output volume visual indicator (like input has)

- I have an idea for a UI adjustment that allows cycling through nam captures of the same thing just at different settings. Let me know if you want me to submit that somehow and if so what design program you can use and I can make a mock.

- if the master output is turned off and you switch presets the master output is toggled back on automatically which shouldn't be the case.

Cheers

GUI Resize

In the .CLAP version the GUI shows up entirely too big in DAW and it’s not scalable.

Also, both vst3 and .clap doesn’t remember gui size when minimized.

Thanks

A Minor Bug with the “Scene” Feature

Many thanks for version 1.3, which has made quite a few improvements.

Soundshed Guitar is my absolute favorite when it comes to guitar amp sims. Not even Genome 2.0 has changed that (though it’s also very good—and I really enjoy using ToneX as well).

However, I’ve found another bug:

When you add a new “Scene” to a preset (the button on the right side next to the “Add FX” button).

This is a great feature that I really enjoy using.

For me, adding a scene works without any problems in most situations.

However, there’s one situation where adding a scene doesn’t work (for me), namely when the “Plugin Host” module is present in the signal chain AND a VST3 plugin is loaded.

It doesn’t matter which scene this module is in—the active one or another one. If there’s a Plugin Host in any scene with a selected VST3, you can’t add, remove, or rename any scenes.

When you try to add a scene, you see the new scene for 1 to 2 seconds, and then it disappears again—as if Soundshed Guitar adds the new scene and then immediately resets all scenes back to their previous settings.

Please make sure to keep the “Plugin Host” module in all future versions of Soundshed Guitar. Under no circumstances should you ever remove it. The Plugin Host is worth its weight in gold! It’s an invaluable feature.

question: why use html as a frontend?

just curious, it feels unintuitive to right click and not have options and just see "inspect element"

theres better UI libraries or something
