Spicy pillow or just paranoia?

I got this switch around Christmas 2017 and recently ended up dusting it off after about a year or so not playing it due to the release of the tomodachi life game. I however, have had spouts of paranoia in the past and recently i've been extremely worried about the thought of expanded batteries. I have done a table test and it seemed to be flat, but my mind isn't 100% convinced that its safe.

Found this in a portable (solar) battery

Me and my brother placed it in a saltwater filled bucket in a fire pit. Was that a smart decision?

Whoops.

During the month of July in 2019 I put this in the middle of a giant box full of stuffed animals in the back of a U-Haul and when I pulled it out later in the day, it was puffed up like this and popped the whole screen apart. Im incredibly blessed by the Lord because ive had this in a box for years thinking I could save the files on it and I just now found out it is still a danger. 😂😂 (Note, im taking it to a place that will safely dispose of it asap.)

Update! Gave it to the hazardous waste facility and he said "Oh no" and "Thats explosive" and took it immediately. Kinda miss it. 😔

My 10 year old Legion Laptop finally bit the dust - went to harvest SDD and found this

My laptop let out the magic smoke today and I wanted to remove battery and harvest my hard drive. I unscrewed the back cover and new I was in for a spicy surprise when the cover popped up when the screws loosened. Time to take a trip to the hasmat drip off, and if course the laptop was just charged up.

Bought this thing from someone about 6 years ago, I believe it was made in 2016. Might be able to scrap for parts and remove the i7 and 2060 from it. Wouldn't power back in via AC so I think the motherboard popped a cap somewhere (could smell the magic smoke) RIP Legion, you were a good PC o7

Is this pillow spicy?

I just can’t decide whether the battery in my Odin 2 mini is spicy and should be replaced. I’ve been periodically checking it since seeing some posts here on Reddit. It looks a bit bloated to me but I feel like it always has. Some of the pictures make it look a bit worse than it does in real life I think. No issues with the screen coming undone like I’ve seem in some of the posts I’ve mentioned, yet.

What do y’all think?

Spicy pillow in national park

I have an older phone than you as an MP3 player, so I went to transfer the file off of it and thought the screen felt a bit weird you realize the screen is bulging and popped the battery out , this isn’t the part I’m annoyed about I am annoyed that there is no accessible facility to dispose of the battery ( I work in a national park and don’t have a car)

They don’t plan to replace it until it actually breaks

Swollen battery??

Ok so i have an Aukey 20000mah powerbank from at least 8 years and in the last 2 years i saw it having a little bulge, today i finally open it and it seems all fine, the batteries are pretty much flat at the touch. Can it be that right now they are discharged? Or is there anything else?

⚠️ A hard lesson in tech: Why you shouldn't leave wireless keyboards plugged in 24/7!

Since day one, I’ve used my wireless keyboard plugged in to avoid any input lag. Recently, I noticed a weird bump on the top casing and immediately realized the battery was swelling.
After taking it apart, I confirmed the battery was bloated. I tried removing it entirely, but the keyboard didn't work because the PCB circuit relies on the battery to draw power. So I have to wait until I get a new replacement battery.
Moral of the story: If you buy a wireless keyboard, stick to using it wirelessly!

Edit: For the people asking me why I bought the wireless version and “paid extra” — it was on sale for €100 instead of the usual €200-250. At that time the wireless version was actually €300, so I got it at a really good price and bought it. I mostly used it wired though because of the input delay, and only switched to wireless on rare occasions.

Guys my deck did the deed and cooked itself in its confusion

As the title says, it turned on inside the case and cooked the battery so much it is buldging out. What are best nest steps? Immediate removal of the bat?

edit:

some cool facts:

- yes it was sleep mode

- no, there is no windows on it, it is as vanilla and OG as it can be

- yes it is secured now and under observation

- yes, Valve already got the ticket.

Advice on swollen apple battery I removed

I wanted to a Do not do this flair because I'm dumb but I have an explanation. My phone started swelling around the same time my grandmother was passing away(this is important) so I took it to the apple store where they told me to charge it and back everything up but gave me no advice further than that other than if I wait too long it could destroy the hard drive. I did exactly that but then it didn't transfer everything specifically some important files and voicemails my grandma left. I panicked, removed the swollen battery to protect the phone and when I took the battery to apple they wouldn't take it. My local hazardous waste is only open Fridays and Saturdays for a few hours! So I'm just sitting on this spicy pillow and pissed at apple for being shitty. Is it a bad idea to remove the hard drive and try and put the swollen battery back and take the phone to apple for recycling? I hate apple and will never buy another product because of this experience.
