Total Spent: $761.27
Total Giveaway Funds (10%): $76.13
Total Charity Funds (10%): $76.13
Will be back tomorrow for Day 93 in hoping to get an autographed card!
New to this hobby and pulled this with my first ever NFL box!
Don’t mind me. Just doing my part to create some semblance of scarcity for this shit.
These have come in over the past few weeks. I have an embarrassing amount more coming in the mail so more updates to come.

Thank you to everyone who posted suggestions on new cards to purchase for this strange collection, I’ve purchased almost all of them. Keep the suggestions coming.
And yes, the box behind the cards is in fact the Space Jam/Pizza Hut/March Madness collab box. Big flex.
1st pic - all together
2nd pic - Michael Olowokandi Upper Deck Century Legends “Phenom” /100
3rd pic - Oscar Azocar - bat hug
4th pic - Ja Morant “Bank Shot” /49. A bit of a stretch but it’s funny to me
5th pic - Steve Lake bird card
6th pic - Bo Jackson - had to add to my collection
7th pic - Vonteego Cummings rookie /200. Personally my favorite card because I named my dog Vonteego Cummings.
**will post Vonteego Cummings dog tax if requested
Also, if it happens to be authentic, what would be the best way to get it graded or verified?
Been meaning to get this one out there, but now finally getting to it….
I have been in this hobby for 46 years!
Of late, like many of you, I have been trying to find the path to existing in this hobby without leveraging myself financially to a point of ruin.
I am buying singles in various marketplaces, buying sealed retail product, and buying the occasional repack from one of the large online repackers (arena, courtyard, etc…)
The gamble with hobby wax is just not worth it to me, as I have not bought a sealed hobby box in a year or two that I had to pay over $120 for…..and those have been far and few between.
I just bought into about 4-5 breaks recently for Bowman, prior to that, I had not done a break in 2 years. Based on the return of my ~$700 , I won’t be walking down that path again for a while…..even if I had hit something, it would have needed to be a whopper to get my money back. The collectibility of what I netted was awful likewise. I know my way around breaks, but if you did them 7-8 years ago, the stink of the current practice really grates on you vs. the cost and return from back then. Won’t be going back.
So I bought a slew of cards on eBay for about $100 that I probably would have had to fork over a thousand to obtain in retail and other outlets…. Singels are still the best return on value and always probably will be.
For thrills I do a repack here and there. You lose most of the time, but outlets like courtyard have at least put cards worth something in the packs….better than a break or sealed hobby in my opinion.
I visited a show recently….it was full of people trying to dump singles to the “buying cards” tables. You know the guys I am talking about….they sit with a wad of cash and are there to take advantage of the desperate people.
I saw some things and my biggest concern is the sheer amount of people in this hobby, leveraged to the hilt and just trying to get 50% of market back in a card so they can buy more wax or enter more breaks.
I sat next to a table that way buying listening to the negotiations…..it was heartbreaking. Like watching drug addicts try to find money for more drugs.
People, if you are poor, stay out of this hobby.
Interesting post by PSA yesterday. Crazy that people are paying the money they are for ~20% chance at a gem. It’d be cool to see these statistics from every set that drops to be honest.
When people were excited about panini losing the license and had faith topps holding all licenses would be just fine for the hobby...the new topps chrome just made me wanna find this comment to see how long it took before seemed like everyone has turned on topps lol
Pulled the redemption card for this last summer. To be honest, with Brooks leaving LIV in the winter, and with LIV seemingly winding down, I was almost certain this wasn’t going to be fulfilled. Sometimes patience is a virtue I suppose!
Can get this out and on its way tomorrow.
friggin’ hangry…on a messed up work call…reach over for an energy bar whilst running excel formulas.
and this is how i open it.
i think i might need sports cards anonymous or something.
My PC is coming along very nicely. Got 4 of my grails for way less than what it would’ve cost for the packs. Took me way too long to stop buying packs and start buying cards I genuinely want. I still love ripping the occasional pack but being able to get the exact card you want for a fraction of the price of hobby boxes is way more satisfying.
Hopefully a breakout year 2, and more to come!
Which of these two dirk cards do you think is the better looking card? I love the gold in the masters, but the “oil” finish on the midnight is pretty cool too. Thoughts? Masters or Midnight?
It seems like the semi rigid case is too tight for the thickness of the card, but I could be wrong.
135 point thickness.
