What car to upgrade to from the 350z?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice. I've tried a bunch of different cars, but I don't want a dedicated drift car. I just want something that was as easy to slide around and predictable as my old 350z w/ coilovers was, but it will mostly be a second fun street car. I have a Lexus RCF with the TVD and I find it super predictable and easy as well, but its a bit too expensive and nice for me to start wearing out driving like that.

What are some good options that have a better interior than the 350z? I had a G37 IPL and I found it not as easy to slide. It was more grippy and snappy when it lost grip even compared to the RCF. I also found the GT86 harder to initiate and hold a slide than the 350z due to lack of torque.

Can you get a 370z to slide as easy as the 350z? With skinnier wheels maybe?

The new Nissan Z? The mk5 Supra? Q60 Red Sport with an aftermarket LSD? Corvette C5/C6?

Mustang GT? Camaro SS?

Americans. Outside of American v-8 - what is your favorite sounding engines?

The small block sounds good but it’s in everything. The Z06 is magical, but what about everything else that doesn’t have a v-8? How important is the sound in purchasing a fast fun car? It can enhance or take away - but how much does it matter? Porsche newer 4turbo S or older flat 6S? The turbo is faster - but? Just as an example.

MX-5 NC vs MR2 Daily as 22 Y Old?

Recently been looking to sell my Mazda 2 Sport (which I have loved!) in favour of something with a little more driving spice (without breaking bank) which has of course led me to MX-5’s and MR2’s. I am now stuck between them.

My budget/situation:

  • £7K budget (incl likely £2k PX for my Mazda2)
  • Used as daily (no kids, one girlfriend, still living at home)
  • commute to work 4/5 days a week for 20 mins on motorway
  • most of my miles are driven for leisure, hence the Japanese roadsters
  • want something that is all about driver enjoyment, mostly for spirited driving on the many amazing back roads local to me. Still want something reliable too.
  • would love to be able to work on the car myself. If I got mx5 I was looking to add mods like coilovers along the way and do it myself. Not sure I’ll be doing much work on the MR2 if I got it

MR2 Options:

  • most seem to be around 5K >/=50K miles. this shocked me tbh - rw, mid engined sports car for under 5k?!
  • from what I know, better on rust than the mx5
  • worse daily, better drive which is my main use anyway.
  • boot space could be an issue if the Mrs wanted to go away in UK but we can always take her T Roc.
  • Hard to drift due to snap oversteer and I did want to learn to do this (in the right setting ofc - not Tesco dont worry guys!

MX-5 Options

  • £5-7k depending on spec under 70k. Ideally looking for PRHT, speaker upgrade, and 168bhp.
  • I hear rust is worse on the 5, which is why my budget goes a bit higher than mr2
  • basically any NC, least rust issues without being an ND (not a fan from drivers enjoyment perspective). Also more practical daily than MR2 as it has a decent boot for what it is.

Honestly I’m really stuck. I’m young, no family to cart around and live at home with very low expenses and decent wage. Will the MR2 be too much? Also trying to find some examples to test drive in next few months. I’m in 0 real rush to buy yet and might even wait til winter when avg prices can drop for this type of car.

any advice or experience shared would be useful for this 22 y old petrolhead! thanks all :)

Cool car owners - do you also own the die-cast of your car? How much not-for-your-car stuff of your car do you have?

I finally got a car cool enough to have a die-cast model made of it. Bought the cheap toy, now I want the $200 one for my office matches interior and exterior color! Nerdy but I love it. Don’t know if I can get a hat or shirt, don’t wanna be that guy.

Porsche 930 Turbo „Every Boy‘s Dream?“

Hey guys,

A close friend lent me his flawless uni-black 930 Turbo for a sunset mountain drive, and it felt like stepping right into a childhood dream.

We captured the raw sound, the incredible turbo whistle, and the overall aesthetic of this absolute legend.

Daily driver sports car buyers. Does precise handling matter THAT much? Should you have gotten a GT?

Unless you’re going to track your car, shouldn’t the daily matter more than .1 off a theoretical lap time? Does saving 50# of sound deadening for lightness make the commute a headache? Especially now and on public roads? How fast is fast enough before you go more for comfort?
I’m not saying buy a sedan. I’m saying sl550 -v- club spec Miata. Where is the magic middle in that spectrum? You can still track an SL 550 and you can road trip a Miata.

I need help finding a car..

So im in the process of saving for a car, and im looking for something less than 20k, rwd, a little flashy, lots of aftermarket support, reliable, and preferably more track oriented. Super specific i know. But ive already looked at 370z’s, corvette c5s, g37’s, ctsv 1’s, a lot of bmws, etc. i just feel like there is a few more options that would be fitting that i can’t put my finger on. If it changes anything, i have slight track experience, im comfortable working on cars and im located in the pnw with all sorts of crazy roads. Thank you for ur time.

2014 Audi S5 b8.5 vs 2014 Mercedes E400 W212

So im planning to let go my 2018 merc E350e cause im starting to get them airmatic nightmares plus I wanna feel a proper german engine which has less electrical disruption in the mechanism. My question now is which would be the best buy? I know power and reliability dont go along but i wish to know which comes to the nearest. Thank you.

2009 CLK550 or Jaguar XK

Which one would be better?

Reliability is a big factor, along with which one requires less maintainance.

Speed as well :)

I heard jag could be reliable, the merc probably is.

For the jag I would rather have 5.0 XK or 4.2 XKR

Help me weigh all options. Budget of under $20k

Driving a Porsche 964 RS to the Deadliest Trail in Switzerland at 3 AM

Good evening,

I shot a new video last Friday. I hope you like it. I’d appreciate a like on YouTube or a nice comment (if you like it).

Every 964 RS owner can count themselves lucky, because this Porsche simply has something magical about it. The smell, the driving experience, the sound, the look—everything is just magical.
