how are you guys managing to stay consistent??

the complete silence from SSC about cgl and phase exam dates is killing my study rhythm.

without a concrete deadline it's so hard to stay disciplined. and without a timeline it's tough to create schedules and revision plans and it feels like i'm just wasting my time.

if anyone knows how to tackle this please give some tips.

Frustration that comes along with joblessness

26 M

I don't think people talk enough about the weird kind of helplessness that comes with unemployment , preparing for competitive exams and still being dependent on your parents for food and shelter, if not money.

I teach, I make my own money, I earn enough to take care of my day to day expenses. If I want to buy something for myself, go out for a meal, pay for my basic needs, etc., I can manage it.

But somehow, that's not the same as being independent.

How many of you feel suffocated at home?

I am technically an adult. I can earn some money. I can take care of certain things yourself.

But my life is still on hold.

I wake up, study teach, come back home, study again, eat, sleep, repeat.

And because I am preparing for an exam there's always this feeling that I can't really start living until I clear it.

I want to go out, but there's a mock test tomorrow. I want to travel, but I need permission. I want to stay out late with friends sometimes, but I know I will not be allowed to. If I try to become rebellious, the environment at home will become toxic. And sometimes, it's not about going out somewhere.

It's about the little things in life.

I can't always wake up when I want to. there's always an exception of when I should wake up, when I should sleep, what I should be doing with my time. If I make plan with my friends, I have to explain where I'm going, who I'm going with, and when I will be back. If I come home late, there's always an interrogation. If I want to go somewhere randomly, there's a discussion.

If I want to spend a day doing absolutely nothing, there’s still an opinion about how I’m wasting my time. And because I’m preparing for an exam, every decision somehow gets connected to my preparation.

"Padhai ka kya hoga?"

I understand it. I really do.

They’re my parents. They worry about me. They’ve supported me, and I’m grateful for that. But sometimes I just want to be able to make decisions about my own life without having to explain every little thing.

I’m 26. I want to date. I want to go on long drives at night. I want to travel with friends. I want to have someone to take out for dinner. I want to own a car and just drive somewhere without having to plan my entire day around whether I’ll be allowed to go. I want to move out eventually and have my own space, my own routine and my own rules. I want to be able to make a few stupid decisions too. I want to learn from my own mistakes instead of having someone constantly trying to protect me from making them.

And I think this is where being an aspirant at this age becomes particularly difficult. You’re old enough to want all of these things, but not necessarily independent enough to have them.

You keep telling yourself: "Bas job lag jaaye."

Then I'll move out. Then I'll travel. Then I'll date. Then I'll buy a car. Then I'll actually start living.

And that's the part that scares me sometimes. How much of my 20s am I spending waiting for my life to begin?

I don't want to blame my parents for everything. I don't think they're trying to ruin my life. But I also don't want to pretend that the lack of freedom doesn't affect me. I can earn enough to take care of myself to an extent. But I still don't have complete control over my own life.

And maybe that's what independence actually means to me now. Not just earning money.

Being able to decide when I wake up. Where I go. Who I meet. When I come home. What I do with my time. Who I date. Where I live. What kind of life I build.

I think that's why clearing CGL has become much more than just getting a government job for me.

It means finally having the freedom to build my own life.

So I'm genuinely curious, especially those of you who are 25–27 and still preparing: Do you guys feel this too? Do you also sometimes feel suffocated living under your parents' rules at this age? Do you ever feel like you're technically an adult, but at home you're still treated like a teenager? Or is it just me? Because some days, honestly, it feels like I'm not just preparing for an exam.

I'm preparing for my life to finally begin.

2025 pyq or 2024 pyq

I am getting 90+ percentile in almost all of 2025 pyq of CGL and chsl (even 95+ in some cases) but now when I tried for 2024 pyqs it fluctuates between 70-90. Should I even attempt 2024, 2023 pyqs or leave then, and will attempting chsl pyqs help since I have now completed all of 2025 CGL pyqs (sectional maths mock)

Are plastic earrings allowed?

I got three piercings done on my ears about a month ago. I'm going to appear for the Steno exam next month. Ideally, I'm not supposed to take them off before 6 months, but since no metal is allowed I'm thinking of wearing plastic retainers like the ones in the image. Will that be allowed? Has anyone ever faced anything similar?

A meme (rhymes with "team") is a concept, behavior, or idea that spreads rapidly from person to person within a culture.

Today, the term almost exclusively refers to internet memes: pieces of media—usually funny or relatable images, videos, or text formats—that are copied, slightly altered, and shared rapidly across the internet.

The Origin of the Word

The word wasn't actually invented by the internet. It was coined in 1976 by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins in his book The Selfish Gene.

Dawkins wanted a word to describe how cultural information spreads, evolves, and mutates over time, much like biological genes do. He took the Greek word mimema (meaning "that which is imitated") and shortened it to "meme" so that it would sound similar to "gene."

Common Types of Internet Memes

Image Macros: A picture with text superimposed over it to establish a relatable situation or joke (like the "Success Kid" example above).

Reaction Images/GIFs: Media used specifically to represent a feeling, facial expression, or response in a digital conversation.

Exploitables: A blank template image where one specific element is easily replaced by users to create a brand new joke.

Copypasta: Blocks of text, often ridiculous or overly dramatic, that get copied and pasted repeatedly across forums and comment sections.

Audio and Video Trends: Viral dances, recognizable soundbites, or recurring video formats, which have become the dominant meme format on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

2025.. 5 Exams, 4 rejections, countless heartbreaks but ending the exam cycle with a Govt. Job. Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Started Preparing from December 2024.. Engineering background so a bit strong in Maths and reasoning. G.S was the sole enemy that always pricked.

  1. CGL 2025-

Tier 1- 153.5 ... Tier-2 - 332, computer-8 ( Not qualified )

  1. IB ACIO-

Tier 1- 72.5.. Tier 2 qualified.. Interview ( Not Qualified )

  1. Selection post 2024-

Graduation - 138, 6 posts allocated ( No final selection)

H.S - 162 ( No post allocated )

  1. IB Sa/E-

Tier 1 - 67.. Tier 2 qualified.. Interview ( Not qualified)

  1. CHSL 2025-

Tier 1- 148.. Tier 2- 306

Rank- 580, Ministry of Civil Aviation...

I was so disappointed and shattered, when I got rejected in IB, both ACIO and SAE.

But finally there's something to smile. Something yo cheer for in this so mundane life.

GodSpeed to CGL 2026 now, ehh!!
