Hi! I'm looking for an illustrator to create custom homepage artwork for my website, starting with one hero image, with more matching pieces to follow if it's a great fit.
The vision: A digital oil painting type of a lush green hedge maze that feels like a liminal dreamscape aesthetic. (Think secret garden-meets-Alice in Wonderland). Earthy. Hand-painted look with soft oil-painting brushwork (I'm open to other styles, but this is kind of what I have in mind). The feeling is calm, magical, mysterious, and otherworldly, but never dark or spooky. Liminal and dreamscape are the two words that really come to mind here, but with a warm earthy twist. (Is that possible? Let's find out!)
Composition for this hero image: An eye-level view from within the maze, where you can see the maze pattern and green hedges around you, but with a hedge wall close in the foreground so it feels like you're standing in it. Important note: this is NOT a view of someone standing at the entrance looking at the maze from outside. It's more immersive like you're already inside with the maze visible around and beyond you, and open sky at the top where I'll place floating text. (This first image will lead into additional images that continue down the hedge, so the composition should feel like the beginning of a journey deeper in.) One important detail: the bottom of the image should be filled with the hedge (up close and textured), so that it can visually flow into the next image below it, I want the hedge to feel continuous as the page scrolls, like the bottom of this image and the top of the next are the same hedge.
Palette: muted, dusty, earthy tones, sage, moss, warm grey, deep teal, aged cream, with soft golden or dawn/dusk light that feels like it comes from within or beyond. Dreamy and slightly desaturated, but crisp and clear, not foggy or blurry.

I've been wanting to re-make everquest (father of MMORPGs, what WoW was based on) for my whole life. I've currently done it rudimentarily as seen here, all systems are in place. combat, xp, spells, looting & loot rolls, server client & database boot/handshakes, efficient load into memory, delta server snapshots, etc. It's built in a custom C++ engine.
What I cannot do is art. I am a gifted programmer, author, and musician but art just escapes me

I'm looking for an illustrator to do an entire children's book. This book is satirical in nature, reference any book by Mark Thunder for an idea on what a satirical children's book is. While the premise is intentionally absurd, I'm looking for someone who will treat the illustrations with the same care as a traditional children's book.
Style
The style of the book should be fantastical and bright. The story will revolve around a gnome at his cottage so a mash between the style of the covers of the Magora books and Berenstain Bears is what I'm envisioning. I'm not an artist though and of course will take into consideration your own style. This is just my vision.
Scope
The project will be for the entire book, which is right now:
Note that I'm not including type setting as I can do that myself and don't want to exclude any good artists if they have no interest. If you are also able to do the typesetting that would be wonderful and we can come to a separate payment agreement for that.
Content
I know this is Reddit, so I imagine I'll lose many of you here. The overall content of this book will be a pro 2A, lightly anti-government, "conservative good liberal bad" joke. If that's not your thing it's cool, this is meant to be in good fun. If you are uncomfortable with this content for any reason that's totally fine, this project might not be for you. I'm putting this here just so we don't waste anyone's time; mine or yours.
The protagonist is Tanner, a calm, stoic garden gnome living peacefully in his cottage. Much of the humor comes from his reactions to increasingly ridiculous situations, so expressive character acting is more important than elaborate scenery. Some scenic jokes will also be required however.
Budget
Given the scope of this project, I expect it to be in the ball park of $3000 - $4000 all said and done. This includes the full scope, minus typesetting, and 2 rounds of revisions per illustration phase (rough sketches and final color).
Timeline
Flexible. I'd rather find the right artist than rush the project. Also if you're in the middle of other projects I'm okay with you working on them at the same time as mine. We can discuss deliverables when we get there.
Hiring
What will happen is I'd like any one interested to share their work in the comments. From there I'll reach out if I see something I like and commission a character sheet for the main character as well as 1 sketch of a page from the story board. This commission will be paid at $100-$150 and will not come out of the budget. This is to ensure that even if you're not chosen you get paid for your time. I think that's fair.
The ideal artist isn't necessarily the most technically skilled. I'm looking for someone who enjoys visual comedy, expressive characters, and collaborative storytelling. If Tanner, or the content in general, makes you smile, we'll probably work well together.
Ownership
The final commissioned artwork will be work-for-hire, with all commercial publishing rights transferring to me upon final payment. You'll of course be welcome to display the work in your portfolio.
Final Words
I'm reaching out this way because I would like to support real artists in the community. Using AI for ideating is fine but I expect the submitted sketches and final products to be done entirely by human hands. You can work with other people, I don't care, so long as it's all original. No, I am not a scammer, and I apologize for trying to save as much money as I can.
Ideally I'm looking for an artist that has a soft, yet more stylized and "cartoonish" artstyle (more unconventional from the typical anime-esque commonly found), and is okay with creating hyper size content such as hyper breasts. I can provide the very few references I have for my oc, and also what I am looking for size and style wise. I am in big need of a ref sheet for them already. I hope that is a decent little headstart of a description for what I am looking for.
Also, while live 2D would be really nice, I'm okay with a flat semi-animated 2D (as long as it's not just wobbling that I could easily add), or even if possible, a low quality 3D model (as long as it's not too low quality of course lol. Last night, in a dream, a family member of mine saw a Garfield tshirt that had two pictures of Garfield on it. On one side, Garfield was wearing a party hat but had a sad expression: this side was captioned "me at the function". The other side had a happy Garfield and was captioned "me with yams". I did not get a detailed description, but in my head, Garfield is happily holding several sweet potatoes aloft - I live in the southern US and here "yams" always means "sweet potatoes". I would love to make this dream t-shirt a reality for this person's birthday so I'm looking for a graphic that could be printed on a t-shirt, only for the sake of this one person, not to be sold publicly (as if anybody but my weirdo would buy this t-shirt) . If the graphic could look kind of vintage somehow that would be even better, but not essential. T-shirt color I'd print this on would probably be light blue or green. Thanks!
