Hello Statesboro Redditors

Morning, Statesboro! My name is Jace Blair, and I'm a local life insurance broker right here in town. I know insurance can be confusing and feel like just another bill, but my mission is to make sure your policy is affordable, actually benefits your family, and makes financial sense for your situation—not a one-size-fits-all plan.

I'm licensed all over Georgia, but I love getting to work with folks in my own community. If you've got questions about coverage, want to see if you're overpaying, or just don't know where to start, feel free to shoot me a DM. Or if you'd rather chat face-to-face (or over the phone), click the link in my bio and grab a time on my calendar. No pressure, just honest advice. Hope everyone has a great week

Has anyone else noticed people forgot how to cross a street or the area between stores and the parking lot?

I remember being taught to look both ways, make eye contact with drivers, and give a quick wave of acknowledgment to show basic courtesy when crossing the street. Lately, however, it feels like crosswalks—particularly the ones between the malls, walmart or grocery stores. The area between entrances and parking lots.. People step out without looking, stroll at an intentionally slow pace, and completely ignore the line of vehicles waiting on them, its not those distracted by phones either. Its the "Ive got a point to make" rude pos that are doing it.. They dont even cross in a straight line. Instead of crossing directly to the sidewalk and walking to the entrance from there, people will walk diagonally through the entire driving lane to get to the doors, stretching out the time cars are forced to wait. Yes they have the right of way, but it feels like people are now treating these areas as a catwalk for a performative lack of urgency rather than a safety measure.Whatever happened to having a little situational awareness and giving a polite, quick hustle across the lane out of mutual respect for everyone's time? Is this simply a lack of modern parenting and a breakdown in teaching basic street safety? Is it a general lack of respect for drivers, or are people intentionally trying to make a point?

Tormenta FC

Is Tormenta still around? I know there was something between management and the players, but is the team still around? I don't remember hearing anything about them last season or anything about the upcoming season.

Finally got a job!

Finally got a job everyone, just wanted to share. I was struggling to find a job, but I have a job and I asked the girl of my dreams out and she said yes. It's the first time a girl has said she liked me back and I kind of made a few slip ups but I don't even know what to think right now, I know nothing about dating lol. I have no clue what she was thinking. Now I have a job so I can finally stop struggling so much. And that was the whole plan really, I went job hunting a week ago because I realized I liked this girl alot but didn't have the money to date her, and I went for it.

Job accommodation

What's a job I can get where I don't have to speak? I have severe anxiety and I go mute in the workplace. This made me struggle at the few jobs I've had. I've only worked at restaurants. I have been diagnosed with social anxiety and I know I have selective mutism(it is not voluntary btw) as well but haven't been diagnosed yet so don't have medical documents to show that. I also think I might have autism and want to get tested. But all of that costs money so what am I supposed to do in the mean time to make money? What job can I get that will accommodate me without medical records? Right now I rely on delivery gig apps but I don't have a good car so it's not working. I haven't even paid rent this month and need health insurance so I'm desperate but don't know where to look.

Leaving the restaurant industry here

Just been thinking, just because I'm not a good fit for a job does not mean I have no worth as a human being but ofcoarse it's easy to forget that when life is behind paywalls. I'm waiting to hear back from a restaurant for a 3rd and final interview(for food prep, part-time); honestly, if I don't get it, I'm good. I'm tired of trying to work in restaurants, i worked in them all my life but for some reason I have a hard time getting FOH positions, not sure if it's cause I'm an older black male but whatever. I'll just go to my cultural niche and start looking at factories. I checked Uber to one and it was $12 to $15, so $30 a day to get there and back. And I'll just do that while studying the hell out of coding, getting my masters in a few months and never return deal with the service industry here again. I mean I get the message loud and clear, they just want me in the back, that's what I keep hearing, and that's fine for them but not for me.

update: well I got an update from the third interview, looks like I got the interview after all somehow. I was looking to the sky crying begging for an answer lol. It may not go well but all hope is not lost just need to pass this last one and I get the job!! I can maybe build a life, ask the woman I cared about and help my family, so I'm hopeful.
