Getting your dog to take pills!? (The I’ve tried everything edition)

I have a St. Bernard who is terrified of the vet and also terrified of pills. He needs to take anti anxiety meds before each visit. Pill pockets don’t come close to working. Hiding pills in bread, lunch meat, cheese don’t work either. I’ve even tried crushing the pills, melting cheese, mixing it all together, and giving it to him like that. No. Ice cream is his top favorite food, so tonight I melted ice cream added the crushed pills, and refroze it. Did he eat it? No. Help!!! He has to take seven pills at a time, twice ahead of each visit so it’s no easy feat.

Shoving them down his throat is not an option because he clamps down immediately and runs away.

What haven’t I thought of?

Incontinence Issues at 13 Months

Adopted Barkley at 10 months old, he was neutered right before we got him. He did take awhile to heal from this as he was licking the wound consistently, but extra attention and a bit of gel applied daily got it healed.

He is now almost 13 months old and we have noticed some incontinence issues in the house. He is house trained, asks (whines, barks, etc) to get let out to go pee. Has never peed himself while sleeping (has gotten me up in the middle of the night a few times to get let out).

I’m not even sure I’d call them ‘accidents’ as I don’t think he even knows he pees a bit in the house. A couple times he peed a bit when excited (understandable) but others it was completely random.

I will be booking a vet appointment likely next week when the holidays are over.

Is this concerning? Curious to know thoughts .

Help!! How to get my St.Bernard stop pee in house

So I have a 7 month old St.Bernard. He’s peeing the moment I take him to the lift by sitting and it’s not stopping. So the moment I feed him I take him out immediately to walks. But sometimes the moment he is in-front of my lift door he pees and i am afraid it will become a habit. I stay in 3rd floor and in a gated community in India. Is there any product like a spray I can use in particular locations where I don’t want him to pee??

Had to say goodbye to Winnie today. 🌈

Winnie was 10 and had a great life. We are so thankful to have her that long. It’s really hard to see her go. We love you Winnie! 🌈

A St Bernard, named Lady, my family loved, and I wish I had known.

The pictures are from about 1939 or '40 to 1942, When I was a teen, one of the little boys in the pics, the boy with hands in pockets and fancy hat, my dad, got us Samson, a gorgeous GIANT of a boy, but sadly, he had cancer and didn't live long. I have pit/chow mix and a chow/corgi mix now and together they still aren't the size our Samson was. Lady was beloved and had mythical folkloric status in the family. Many good stories. She was family.
