HUGE ISSUE 180 de Salaberry!

I’m pretty sure that’s the ONLY bus affected by the network redesign in that way! It usually went on Acadie, until it turned on Henri-Bourassa. Now, it was supposed to go on Acadie and turn on Sauvé, because of the redesign. Since this morning, 3/4 bus drivers have been ignoring that new map, and even some of the new 180 stops got put tape on the “180” square on the sign, by an anonymous person! WHAT IS GOING ON, STM?! If someone can help me, it’d be great.

No parking at the Fairview REM Station

The lack of dedicated parking at the Fairview–Pointe-Claire REM station honestly makes no sense to me.

It’s been repeated over and over that there will be no REM parking at what will likely become the busiest station on the West Island branch. Meanwhile, there’s a huge amount of parking right beside the station at Fairview Mall.

From what’s being reported, the mall owner refused to come to an agreement to dedicate or sell some parking spaces for REM users. That’s frustrating because much of the West Island still heavily relies on cars. The REM is supposed to reduce traffic and encourage transit use, but how are most people realistically expected to get to the station?

What makes it even stranger is that a recent CTV article stated:

> “Parking will be made available to REM users on an exceptional basis for the occasion”

Meaning parking will exist for the opening weekend only.

So clearly, parking is possible when they want it to be.

What do people think about the long-term viability of this? Are commuters expected to rely on drop-offs, already crowded buses, or long walks?

And realistically, will Fairview security start ticketing or towing people who park at the mall to use the REM? Because it’s hard to imagine daily commuters won’t end up using those spaces anyway.

STM Drivers Are Rude

The Chrono app was glitching today, and my card wouldn’t reload at first. I kept trying while the driver stared at me impatiently, like “are you going to tap or not?” After about 30 seconds, I realized it was just the app acting up, but my card had actually reloaded. I tapped and went to sit down.

A few stops later, a Black man got on and his card wasn’t working either. He looked confused, and the driver gave him a disgusted look but didn’t say anything, so the man assumed he was allowed to ride until the metro stop. A couple stops later, police got on the bus, the driver pointed him out, and they removed him.

Then later on, a teenager was standing near the door, and instead of politely asking him to step behind the yellow line, the driver aggressively slammed the glass open, nearly hitting him in the face.
