dove fam in our planter box pt 1

just found this sub and a place to relate with others dealing with Dove Squatters!!

we especially loved when they got territorial while watering our plants :)

stay tuned for part 2,
a new fam just moved into another planter!

Behold. The dove with brain cell.

I got to slowly watch this absolute GENIUS build this nest in our covered ramp just outside the MRI trailer. It took a little over 3 weeks, but it’s glorious. This dove has taken all the brain cells.

This is what I get for vegging out on the couch too long

I was binging LOTR movie analysis/trivia YouTube videos for over an hour and this is what happened. If I’d decided to watch the whole extended release trilogy in one go, I’d have a whole clutch!

She's been struggling for a month to assemble this.

Every day when I get home from work I see new branches on the ground 😅

So a few days ago on Monday of this week the Mourning Doves nesting in an aloe plant at my home have left the nest after a successful brood. Should I clear the nesting site or not?

I would like for them to possibly come back. Or at the very least I would like other Mourning Doves to use it. It was quite the interesting experience getting to see this up close, and well I do miss having them around. Since I never quite experienced this before. And well I have been getting conflicting answers if I should do this or not.
