Making friends

Hi, my family is from western NY, considering moving to the area. I’m worried about making friends though, I generally don’t have a hard time but are people pretty friendly to northern transplants there? I’m a nurse and my husband is in contracting, we have 4 kids ages 0-6.

Jacklyn Talucci is always stirring drama

she don’t ever have a clue what she’s talking about and now it looks like she don’t even pay the taxes she takes out of her employees checks! That is nothing more than stealing! Blames everyone else. Smh

Shed recommendations?

Hey, we're new to Summerville and we're looking into having a shed installed. Does anyone know of any local, budget friendly companies that installs the sheds as well.

Also any recommendations concerning the foundation of a shed; is it necessary, what kind of foundations works best, etc.

Thank you

Summerville Skatepark Meeting pics

The meeting had great turnout from local skaters in the area. I didn't have much to contribute, but this was the most positive meeting I've ever been to.

Some details I learned:

- it will have a graffiti wall to prevent vandalism to the park

- it may not have a deep bowl due to the water table being so low

- it'll be about 10,000 Sq ft

- pictures and renders are from other skateparks they have designed, the design has not been created yet

Anybody else's rent in town stay stable?

Hey all, this month the property managers at our apartment complex notified us of a rent increase... Of only 1 dollar!

Got me thinking, did anyone else have this happen to them, is rent stabilizing in your area?

Please help me find this dog’s owners (Miles Jamison Rd)

⚠️ Warning: Attached photo is a cropped image of a deceased dog. I did mark out the areas that were graphic. ⚠️

I apologize if this is not allowed in here, but I’m hoping someone recognizes this sweet boy or knows who his family is.

Yesterday morning before sunrise, I was driving on Miles Jamison Rd (coming from Ladson Rd & right after the roundabout) when I tragically hit this poor dog.. I am absolutely heartbroken and have been replaying it over and over in my head. There was a slight curve in the road, it was still dark out, and the fact that his fur is all black made him nearly impossible to see. An oncoming car slammed on their brakes trying to avoid him, which unfortunately startled him and caused him to run directly into my lane. I hit my brakes as hard as I could, but there wasn’t enough time, and with almost no shoulder on that stretch of road, I couldn’t safely swerve. He passed away instantly.

He appeared to be an all black, (I think unneutered) male, possibly a Shepherd/Pit mix or a Shepherd/Lab mix and was wearing a red harness but no tag/contact info.

I am so incredibly sorry to whoever loved this dog. I truly wish the outcome had been different.

After it happened, I called the Dorchester County non-emergency line and waited. When no one arrived, I called back and was told the South Carolina Highway Patrol was responding. After waiting even longer, I contacted Animal Control, who transferred me back to Highway Patrol and told me the same thing.. that an officer was on the way. I waited for over an hour, as long as I possibly could (I know they may have more “pressing matters” going on but I couldn’t just leave the poor baby there alone) but eventually had to leave because my son is having surgery early this afternoon.

Thankfully, an incredibly kind woman stopped to help me move him safely out of the roadway while I waited and after she left her boyfriend also came and helped knock on several nearby doors to see if anyone recognized him. After no luck with asking around, he said he was going to take the dog to either a local veterinarian or the shelter so they could check for a microchip and hopefully reunite him with his family.

If this was your dog or you recognize him, I am truly, deeply sorry. My heart breaks for his family. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions about what happened. ♥️😓

**UPDATE: Unfortunately this poor pup was NOT microchipped.. BluePearl Pet Hospital has been kind enough to offer to keep him for a few days while we try to find his owners. If you think you may recognize this sweet boy but need to see the unedited photo to be sure then please feel free to send me a message and I can send you the photo as well as give you the exact address that it happened in front of.nnn

Nexton parkway is literally just that

What a master class in what not to do. I drive all over the area, palmetto commerce…smart! 52 on the other side of the lakes two lanes both way and a middle turning lane…smart! Two massive residential and commercial communities nexton and cane bay with more to come…single lane rd each way with no turning lanes. I can never wrap my head around the thought process there.

Best 55+ Communities

We're looking at Summerville SC as a possible relocation spot for retirement, because it's close to Charleston, one of our favorite locations to visit. We're in our late 50s. I retired early, but wifey still works remotely. We prefer an active community without kids. What are some of the best 55+ retirement communities in the Summerville area? We've heard of Del Webb and Cresswind. Are there other good ones to consider? TYIA

Orca's baby line up (TUXIES)

Hi

I live in summerville off of royal rd.

A Trojan cat (Orca ) showed up at my back door one week prior to my hip replacement. I am now a believer in the power of healing by having cats around. Off all walking aides in exactly two weeks after total hip replacement thanks to them..

We worked it out. Kitties are little over four weeks old. Just started them on grule ( and my finger)

They love it. Be off queens milk in no time.

No one goes outside. Orca was a little confused at first but she's litter trained herself.

All of them will be available. We plan on moving so they can't take them. I will have thier vaccinations done and stay with mom for four more weeks.

Let me know. Orca is a great gentle cat. Never bites or claws. Follows me around like a puppy and comes when called.

All dressed and ready for a tea party.

Thanks

SAHM looking for friends!

My husband and I just moved here and I’m looking for some fellow SAHM or any ladies who are down to do hangouts at parks/coffee shops, walking and more. I’m 30, my son is 2.5 and I’m blessed to be able to stay at home but I’d love to make some friends! Some things about me: I’m always down for a sweet drink/treat, I like to thrift and antique, I’m into photography so I’m the friend that will always send you photos of you and your kiddos😂
I’m ALWAYS down for beach trips and I’ve recently started my fitness journey. I joined a group on Instagram for a moms page but a lot of their things are a pretty far drive. I don’t have a Facebook so I’m not able to join other groups. If there’s any groups on here, feel free to add them so I can join 🫶🏻

Trash pickup

Hi, we moved into Nexton Midtown last week. We have signed up for Carolina Waste and were wondering if there are other options for this neighborhood we could switch to. Thanks!
