Charleston rideshare rentals /vector mobility

DO NOT rent from Vector Mobility / Charleston Rideshare Rentals. I'm the driver that was there since the very beginning.
Started September renting their 2015 Honda Civic for Uber/Lyft. They make you sign before you even see the car. Website shows clean cars — that's bait. Day one: dents, scratches, cracks everywhere, 161k miles, back right window wouldn't roll down. Took over a month to "fix."
Before someone says why not use a major rental company — Last year I had a Mach E from Avis, recall hit, needed a car ASAP for my kids and to work. Went to Revit after that but Revit didn't work out for long, then Vector was literally the only close option. Avis in Savannah is a mission from Charleston. That's how they trap you.
Once you're paying $400 a week it's damn near impossible to save to get out. I finally did.
Car had a lot of mechanical issues that kept getting overlooked or ignored at the shops he would send me to. When I went to an honest shop he tried to stop me from getting an inspection. They found struts and shocks shot, timing cover leak, spark plugs bad — he brushed it off as "normal wear and tear" and said they won't fix anything until it completely breaks. That's putting drivers at risk while they sit back and collect $400 a week. Towards the end the AC was failing, every shop he sent me to always found nothing wrong, but the honest shop I went to instantly found the problem.
Rattling for months, non-stop flats, got pulled for headlights, got pulled for taillight and got blamed, battery died, jerking never fixed. They buy high-mileage cars, rent to rideshare drivers, then blame you when shit breaks.
Every time I reported something they gaslit me, especially tires. Said it was my fault.
They advertise 24/7 customer service — lie. I got screenshots of nothing but "we're off for the day" when I had a flat, when cops pulled me, when the car died. But that rent text? Comes every week on time. They prioritize that $400 payment over your safety every single time. With them Maintenance can wait, but that money can't.
Their shop said my battery was "good." Died next day with my kids in the car on the way to school. I paid $184 myself.
Riders reported me on Uber for vehicle damage, one-starred me. Coulda got deactivated because of their car.
My lady rented a car from them for 2.5 weeks and had a lot of problems and had to claw her money back on Venmo from them.
Filed a complaint with ORS because I don't even think they're approved to rent to Uber/Lyft drivers in SC with these cars.
I got every text, every receipt, the contract, the inspection, all the "off for the day" screenshots.
If you still gonna rent here: see the car BEFORE you sign, get your own inspection, screenshot everything day one.
Learn from me. Go to Savannah Avis if you have to. Don't get trapped paying $1,600 a month for a car that'll get you pulled over and possibly deactivated.

Petition to help disabled vets (sales tax exemption)

South Carolina veterans and supporters — I’ve started a petition to ask the South Carolina General Assembly to exempt veterans rated 100% Permanent & Total (P&T) by the VA from paying state sales tax on qualifying purchases (exclude alcohol, tobacco and vehicles like other states).

Two states, including Oklahoma, already provide this type of relief. Oklahoma exempts eligible disabled veterans from sales tax on up to $25,000 in purchases each year, providing meaningful financial support to those who have sustained life-changing service-connected disabilities.

South Carolina already offers property tax and vehicle tax exemptions for 100% disabled veterans. A sales tax exemption would be a logical next step to honor those who sacrificed so much for our country.

This proposal would help veterans living on fixed incomes while recognizing the ongoing costs associated with severe service-connected disabilities.

Please consider signing and sharing the petition:

https://c.org/d28FbwVqPj

If you are a veteran, family member, or supporter in South Carolina, your signature and share can help build momentum and encourage lawmakers to sponsor this legislation.

Thank you for your support.

Water in Summerville cloudy white substance

Has anyone in the Summerville Dorchester area had their tap water tested recently? When I fill buckets from the outside hose to water my plants the water looks milky white no matter what bucket or container I use. It does clear up somewhat after sitting ... but it seems more dramatic than normal air bubbles to me. I’ve filled buckets from hoses my whole life and don’t remember seeing water look like this. We’re on Dorchester County Water Authority, not Summerville CPW. If anyone has done independent testing ... especially more extensive testing I’d be interested in what you found and who you used. Many Thanks.

Evening Writing Spaces

Hey all! I’m trying to find some good sit down places for a small group of writers to get together in the evening every week. Somewhere that isn’t Starbucks that is, haha.

I’m wanting to start a weekly meet up of writers that would give people the space to be around likeminded people and have the support they deserve in their journey.

It wouldn’t be anything too serious. Nobody is required to come every week to be apart. Just whoever can when they can.

My only issue is finding spots that are open in the evening with space to write. Coffee shops are always preferred, but almost all close by 2PM.

Thank you guys for your help!

What’s the honest opinion?

Hey, just want the real version of what it’s like to live here. We are considering it in the next year or two. I’ve spoke with some realtors and did some research and it seems to be a friendly charming town with good schools. Drawbacks seem to be traffic and HOA? Traffic would be the least of my worry as we are moving from Oahu, and it’s terrible here. I lived in Beaufort as a kid and absolutely loved it, so I’ve always dreamed of coming back to South Carolina.

Dog sitting/boarding

I've spent too much time reading horror stories over at the r/RoverPetSitting thread and now I'm afraid I'll never be able to leave my dogs alone. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to board or who to trust? Thank you in advance.

Orca the Kitty. Worth keeping

This cat showed up three weeks ago. Doesn't bite or scratch your skin. Comes when you call her. Orca. The peeefect cat except a few things ( maybe 5 ) she's pregnant.

We have a sunroom and all the animals we had have past away. So, might as well keep her comfortable and safe. She not even a year old herself. She must be seven weeks along now.

Looking for a cat or kittens. ?

Ill fix them all and let them hang out with mom for a few months after they are born.

ill do vaccinations also. Mom is not vaccinated and i don't think i can that now she's pregnant. (?)

Ill post here with progress even maybe a stream live birth on youtube. ( if appropriate )

Thx

Orca the cat. Birth box size?

Hi again ,

Never seen a cat give birth. Just dogs.

Is this box good enough size for her? She can turn around. She's getting bigger by the day. She spends 70% of her time now in my sunroom sprawled on the floor. She will go in the box if i ask her too .

Thx.

Help in Rehoming Our Dog

Hey everyone.

It is so incredibly hard to write this type of message again, but we’ve been trying to look for a new forever home for our sweet girl, Tonks. We’ve been trying to make things work at home, but Tonks and her sister (from the same litter), Luna, have developed a lot of conflict as they’ve grown up. The two of us had no idea that littermate syndrome was a thing. After working with trainers, we’ve realized the kindest thing we can do for Tonks is to find her a home where she can be the only dog and finally feel at ease.

We’ve tried posting on Facebook and local shelter pages with no luck. We actually thought we found her people recently. A couple took her for a few days and one of them fell in love, but unfortunately, the other wasn't quite on board, so she ended up coming back to us. It was a bit of a heartbreak for everyone, but it just means her perfect home is still out there.

Tonks is a 2-year-old Lab/Heeler/Boston mix and is honestly the best of all worlds. She loves being outside and playing fetch. Once she gets her zoomies out, she’s a great cuddler. She’s already crate trained, great with kids, and even good with cats. She just needs to be your one-and-only pup. She also comes with lifetime training that can transfer to you, but I haven’t inquired how that process goes. We love her so much and just want her to have the happy, stress-free life she deserves.

You can see her full profile and more photos here

Even if you aren't in a position to take her in, please consider sharing or telling a friend. It would truly mean the world to us and would get Tonks one step closer to the quiet, happy home she needs.

Edit:
Apparently there is a discrepancy with the breed. To the best of my knowledge she wasn’t ever addressed as being part pitbull. The rescue we adopted both of our dogs from told us that the mom was a Boston terrier/heeler mix and that the dad was a mixed Labrador.

Her sister Luna looks completely different from her. She doesn’t have the same labrador features as Tonks does. Luna takes more after the Heeler/Terrier mix

Hey pals, it's your friends from your local FREE admission non-profit art center at 135 West Richardson in downtown Summerville.

Apartments in Nexton area.

Hello All,

I recently accepted a job, and after doing thorough research and speaking with the hiring manager, Summerville has come to the top of my list as a sensible place to live. While looking around the area, I noticed a lot of newly built apartments and was wondering which ones have the best reputation so far. If there are any other areas you’d recommend, that would be awesome!

Biking in Summerville

Moved into the area last year, and I see a lot of potential for the Summerville area to support good biking infrastructure and community.

I currently ride a road bike for exercise, and take my Daughter to school / run errands in a cargo bike. The paths from our neighborhood to the schools, grocery, and a few restaurants are very usable.

On the other hand, I have found bike shop support, longer distance cycling infrastructure, etc to be a little lacking.

Are there any cycling communities active in the Summerville area organizing rides (road and casual), groups advocating for better infrastructure / mixed use planning, local events etc that I should be keyed in on?

Looking to move to the area

Coming from NJ originally, have been living in Jupiter past 5 years but pricing has gotten out of control. Burbs of Charleston look promising, ive locked in on Summerville as a top contender and will be visiting later this month. Would love to hear peoples feedback on the area, pros, cons.

Mt pleasant looks like that took off already, so this looked like a good compromise for affordability and qol.

Cheers!
