Cheat sheet on pla and petg?

Sunlu makes so many different PLA formations, but where is a “what is this formulation best at?” lookup index?

PLA, PLA+, PLA+2.0,
HSPLA, HSPLA+, HSPLA+2.0,
PLA Meta, APLA

PLA Matte, HS Matte PLA

PETG, PETG 2.0

Aside from price, what other differences?

PLA+2.0 vs HSPLA+2.0: better Z layer adhesion vs higher max flow rate?

PLA+ vs PLA+2.0: 2.0 is “better” but we keep 1.0 around because the printing profiles would otherwise need to be updated?

PLA+2.0 vs PLA Meta?

Too many SKUs

Can i use sunlu pla+ 2.0 on my generic 3d pen?

Hello people!! i'm new to 3d pen and i bought this generic classic blue 3d pen! i worked a bit with the pla that where already inside the box and it was working perfectly!! my only issue was that the stuff i made were very sensitive and they were very easy to break (my designs have very long spikes) soo i thought i could use a tougher pla!! probably a pla+ or a pla though.. i ended up buying the Sunlu pla+ 2.0 which as i saw is working on a temperature of 205-210 .. my 3d pen has a maximum of 210 on pla mode and the abs max 230.. i tried it and it doesn't work, i tried everything i could imagine is gonna be helpful :( its not getting out from the tip.. feels like it cannot melt it properly.. im thinking of buying another one probably more professional.. is it maybe broken? have you any experience with working with different kind of filaments than the classic pla? :)) thank youu

Does anyone know why my filament is breaking?

When I leave the spool on the machine after a print and I come back later my filament is always broken, it usually snaps in a similar location or in two like this. This sometimes happens after only leaving it for less than a day, in a few hours it just breaks without the machine (ender 5) even running. This filament is sunlu but it happens with other ones too. Any ideas?

Switched brand of Polypropylene filament (Yousa -> Sunlu) and went from can’t remove to can’t stick.

Setup:

·       Bambu X1C and X2D

·       Engineering plate + Magigoo PP (letting tack before printing)

·       Custom brims with large radius anchor pads modelled into the part

My boss wanted some fixtures made out of PP, he was using the sticky tape method to not much success. He asked me to have a crack at it, I’m a manufacturing engineer but I’ve never messed around with 3D printing before. I put together the setup above and was having pretty good success, adhesion was strong enough that it would sooner tear the brim than pull the brim off the build plate.

Quality between Yousa rolls was all over the place, so when we ran out, we decided to get some Sunlu PP. However, with the same setup it doesn’t seem I have the same chemical bond with my PP goo that I did before. You can just slide the part off plate.

What I’ve noticed / tried

·        Sunlu recommended bed temp is 50-60 vs Yousa at 80-90, which makes me think it’s a different formulation.

·        I’ve tried recommended and 80c build plate with the same result.

·        I slowed right down to 30-60mm/s with the same result.

·        Interestingly the Sunlu definitely curls in a less severe way than the Yousa but adhesion is so much worse it’s irrelevant.

Questions

·        Does anyone know anything about the blend of these filaments? Perhaps one is homopolymer, the other co and this has some effect?

·        Does magigoo pp not play well with certain pp formulations?

·        Does anyone have experience / advice for working with Sunlu PP?

Is this how you're supposed to do it?

When using the sunlu s4 to dry filament are you supposed to open these and if so how many do you open?
