Maspeth Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table

I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual after I started putting stuff outside that my family did not want anymore and we couldn't sell on the Marketplace. I noticed the items would disappear and my neighbors would bring items to replace them. My friend who helps shut ins in Glendale brings over whatever food she has left and leaves that on the table for people to take who visit my mutual aid table.

Thursday August 6th, I received 6 deliveries of donations (clothes, food, toys, housewares, books, DVDs). By Saturday August 8th the table is empty.

Items that are in high demand:

FOOD FOR PEOPLE OR PETS

CLOTHES

TOILETRIES

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

DIAPERS FOR BABIES & ADULTS

TOYS

BACK PACKS, LUNCH BOXES & POCKET BOOKS

Books really don't go on my table, so when I get a donation of them I wait a few days then I bring them down to the Little Free Library in PS 153's school yard.

Donations can be dropped off, and you can take what you need 24 hours a day & 7 days a week:

5938 60TH ROAD, MASPETH

Donations can be dropped off at certain businesses during business hours. Just label them Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table.

ASSEMBLYMAN STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE

COOK'S ARTS & CRAFTS SHOPPE, 80-09 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

SCHWILLE-D'ANGELO FUNERAL HOME, 66-32 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE

STATE SENATOR JOSEPH ADDABBO'S OFFICE, 66-85 73RD PLACE, MIDDLE VILLAGE

HARISCH STUDIOS, 57-44 MYRTLE AVE., 2ND FLOOR, RIDGEWOOD

For people who cannot donate in person I created an Amazon Wishlist:

https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JY7U8QQZ8BBU?REF\_=wl\_share

Thank you for all donations. And if you are near the Maspeth/Ridgewood border and are in need please check out table and take what you need. No questions asked. Please spread the word. Thanks.

Pool Hours

I went by the pool yesterday around 1pm but it was closed. A Parks worker that I found nearby told me they didn't think it would open for the rest of the day but had no more information than that (I assume there weren't enough life guards but I have no idea).

Is there a way to find out current information on the pool so that we don't have to wander over just to get our hopes dashed?

EDIT: confirmed that someone indeed fouled the pool on Thursday AM, and that the pool website is regularly updated with closures, I just checked too soon, before it was updated :)

Looking for recommendations for someone who does screenprinting? Trying to get a design from Illustrator onto a bandana. Happy to pay a business or an individual. Would be excellent to learn as well!

Looking for Vet Recommendations

Hi everyone,
Is there a vet in the area that you would recommend? We are mainly looking for affordable vaccines for two dogs.

Could also be in Greenwood, Bay Ridge or South Slope, etc areas!

Looking for morning walking buddies in Sunset Park 🌅

I’m looking for a few folks who might be interested in doing regular morning walks around Sunset Park. Nothing too intense—just a chance to get outside, get some steps in, and have some good conversation while we’re at it.

I’m thinking 40–60 minute walks in the morning, probably a few times a week, but I’m flexible on the exact time/days.

If you’re in the neighborhood and this sounds appealing, send me a DM. It’d be great to meet some neighbors and help keep each other motivated.

Avoid On The Rocks Wine and Liquor on 4th ave, owner kicked a dog

i live across the street, i come to this place often, there was a guy walking his dog, the dog pooped on the ground, the owner went to pick it up with his plastic bag but it was takign him a while to unravel the bag. he eventually picks it up as he throws it away the guy from this store kicked the dog so hard it squeeled. the owner of the dog screamed in spanish but he walked away after the on the rocks guy was yelling about how he would call ICE. i confronted the guy and he ran back into his store. i walked down to the precinct on 29th and filed an official report.

sorry to the guy whose dog got kicked. i hate this owner, this store, this whole establishment. my blood is boiling.

Looking for a private parking spot

I live near 52nd&4th. The parking lot nearby doesn’t have any spots available. Street parking is rough here and I leave my car elsewhere at the moment. I am starting a new job soon and will need it closer. Thanks!

2 weekly meal prep spots still available, local pickup

Hi everyone, I posted here about a month ago to share my private meal prep services and wanted to repost now that I have two weekly spots left and would love for them to be filled by locals. Please let me know if this post isn’t allowed.

I’m happy to customize meal plans on a case-by-case basis, adapting to different dietary needs or flavor preferences. My basic plan offers the following:

10 individual meals, $215 for plant-based proteins and $265 for meat-based proteins (cost includes groceries—I primarily shop at Whole Foods, Fei Long, and Balady)

3 portions of Lunch 1
3 portions of Dinner 1
2 portions of Lunch 2
2 portions of Dinner 2

I have an inventory of lunch and dinner options that I typically rotate through, but can accept substitutions and requests as needed. Most of my meals can be characterized as nutritious and comforting, and I’m happy to lean more on the healthy side or more on the comforting side should you prefer (ask me to deep fry something!). I cook with a lot of Chinese, Japanese, American, Mexican, and Italian flavors.

I’m also happy to change the number or composition of meals, for example can add breakfast or can do more portions of the same meals. Special protein requests, macro counting, written recipes, and any other dietary restrictions that necessitate costlier groceries may come with an additional fee.

Some of my most loved/requested dishes include:

•#1 Fave: Rice bowl with seasonal veggies, homemade pickles, and sauce (Ex: salmon, pork belly, or tofu as protein, spicy mayo or teriyaki as sauce)
•BBQ with potato salad (Ex: pork ribs or tofu cutlet) •White lasagna with seasonal green veggies (Ex: Swiss chard, leeks, zucchini)
•Japanese curry with potatoes, carrots, rice, and protein (Ex: pork, tofu, chicken)
•Classic beef chili with jalapeno cheddar cornbread •Peanut lime tofu satay with carrot cucumber salad •Hot honey chicken thigh salad with peaches, avocados, and corn
•Salmon curry with veggies (Ex: cauliflower, bell pepper, green beans)
•Summer spring rolls with seasonal veggies (Ex: pork or tofu with carrots, cucumber, cilantro, etc.)

The $215/$265 price is for pickup at my home in Sunset Park. I can deliver for an extra fee depending on location, but at least $20. I can also cook in your home kitchen and can discuss pricing for that depending on your needs.

DM me here or email me at sarah16campbell@gmail.com for a consult!
