Cat for Adoption

Hi all, reposting because I haven’t had any luck finding a forever home for a stray cat I found. She’s a wonderful cat, and I’m still hoping to find the right person or family to give her the loving home she deserves.

About a month ago, I found a very friendly stray cat and took her in. My original plan was to adopt her, but unfortunately things haven’t worked out with my resident cat despite several weeks of careful introductions.

I’ve followed the recommended introduction process (scent swapping, controlled visual interactions, treats, etc.), but she remains reactive toward my cat and would likely do best as the only cat in the home.

That said, she is absolutely wonderful with people. She’s affectionate, loves attention and cuddles, uses the litter box consistently, eats well, plays regularly, and has adjusted comfortably to indoor life.

A little about her:
Female
Approximately 6–8 years old
Spayed
No microchip found
Full veterinary exam completed, including bloodwork and stool testing (all normal)
Medical records available upon request
Very friendly

This has been a difficult decision because she’s genuinely a sweet cat and I was hoping to keep her. I’ve already asked friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors, but haven’t been able to find a home for her.

If you’re looking for a friendly companion cat and think you might be a good fit, please send me a DM.

Please also watch a video of her getting brushed, which she loves!

Any gay people looking for friends?

I know this has been posted before and I'm following all the recommended pages (GayRidge, Queer Flatbush, etc.) but looking for something more informal and easier to schedule. Specifically would be great to hang out with other lesbians in their late 20s/early 30s. Pls give me a reason to never go to Bushwick again I kind of hate it there.

Are there any resources, places I can call, if I believe a store in the area is starving and mistreating their store cat?

I went in and this cat was skeletal. I don’t think they are feeding it. Probably starving it so it would eat mice. Also, I just went in to snap a few pictures and the cat must have been in the back or the basement. It was super hot in there also. Absolutely no AC, 100+ degrees.

This place isn’t on google, doesn’t have a name, and I’m pretty sure it’s one of those unregulated dollar stores that sells goods that fell off an Amazon truck or warehouse. On 4th avenue, there’s tons of junk in bins for sale.It just popped up in the last year.

What can i do? 4th avenue between 24 and 25th.

Happy Independence Day from the newest condo in Sunset Park

Just planted the Old Glory this week, I think. Probably the highest flag in Sunset.

Also, has anyone tried the Dim Sum at Grand Royal Palace yet? I’m thinking about checking it out.

Best Bar for Mexico vs England World Cup

Could use some insight as far as the best bars I can catch the Mexico vs England match tomorrow night. Somewhere with all the good vibes and decent prices. Bar/Restaurant mix can also work.

I’ve already seen a couple of the more obvious places that pop up on search but any fellow locals that can drop a couple of spots here for me to check out would be appreciated.

More moped balaclava guys in black incidents

So these guys have been going down to Bush Terminal and constantly popping wheelies and doing dangerous stunts on the jetty, especially drag racing and also in the parking lot and are a nuisance.

Then one of them dies a couple of days ago: https://www.nydailynews.com/2026/07/01/teen-riding-on-back-of-moped-dies-in-crash-on-brooklyn-jetty/

"The latest victim was on a ZNEN moped when the 17-year-old boy operating it lost control on a jetty in Bush Terminal Park near First Ave. and 47th St. in Sunset Park about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday"

Then there was another shooting by these guys on 3rd avenue and 51st Street last month:

This is in addition to the knife robbery nearby CityMD:

https://www.bkreader.com/in-other-brooklyn-news/man-robbed-at-knifepoint-near-sunset-park-urgent-care-two-men-on-the-run-12379618

Then they've been going to nearby neighborhoods like Dyker Heights and fighting and another person lost his life:

https://nypost.com/2026/06/28/us-news/fatally-stabbed-nyc-man-idd-as-manuel-estanislao-chox-choc/

"A 30-year-old was stabbed in the gut and a 21-year-old was stabbed in the chest during a battle inside Dyker Beach Park in Dyker Heights just before 2 p.m., according to police.

The fight was between warring Mexican gangs, police sources said.

The young man fatally stabbed in a gang-related attack near million-dollar Brooklyn homes Saturday was a “quiet kid’’ watching a local soccer game when violent menaces on mopeds rolled up, witnesses said.

Police on Sunday identified the fatal Dyker Heights victim as Manuel Estanislao Chox Choc, 21, from neighboring Bath Beach — and took a 16-year-old with suspected ties to a notorious Mexican gang into custody for his murder.

Law-enforcement sources said they believe that the stabbing was carried out by members of the Los Niños Malos gang, a Mexican street gang whose name means “Bad Boys” in Spanish.

The gang is well-known for terrorizing Brooklyn, having strongholds in Sunset Park and Bed-Stuy, sources said.

Moped-riding scofflaws have been a consistent problem in the area, terrorizing Dyker Beach Park, residents told The Post.

“These idiots always come through here in their mopeds,” Moeller said. “The guy in the Parks Department chased them out of here the other day.”

Miguel Cocom, 31, said he’s had some close encounters with the thugs while spending time in the park.

“They come around here wearing ski masks,” Cocom said. “There’s always a group of about five in mopeds. They drive reckless.”"

Friday 6pm watch party at Industry City - Argentina vs Cape Verde

Anyone’s going to the watch party organized by House of Goal on Friday evening? If so, do you have a group and can adopt me? Or are you looking for someone to go together? Lol (note you need to sign up for free tix on their website)

I’m not a big soccer fan but been following World Cup matches and I’m quite curious about House of Goal setup at Industry City. I’m also excited to see Messi score a goal against the remarkable 40 yr old goalkeeper of Cape Verde. Unfortunately I just don’t have a lot of friends who’s into soccer in the area. So would love to find someone to check it out together.

The Cheapest Rent in Sunset Park

Can't beat free.

It’s a shame to see the state of the Great Elm in the center of the park. After they removed the major horizontal branches a few years ago, a massive hollow has formed on the underside, it’s big enough to fit a cat inside. Given the condition, it looks like it might be suffering from Dutch Elm disease. It feels like we may only have it for another decade or so, so definitely make sure to appreciate this tree while you still can.

You don't need a TV to know when Mexico scores

Seriously, Like I'm just trying to enjoy my book and it's pandemonium in the streets. Pretty charming.
