Is Supcom 2 a bad game, or just a mediocre sequel?

I'm as new as you can be to this frachise and I intend to start playing the games, but I'm not sure which one to pick first. I heard over social media that Supcom 2 was this sort of rts masterpiece and that it was ahead of it's time, and that alone mildly convinced me to play the game, but when I further looked into the rabbit hole I found out it wasn't as perfect as some people stated, and that actually it was pretty distant to the core and main features of the first game.

Some people downright say it's an abomination, others that it is simply a downgrade from the previous titles, and a small percentage of the playerbase still claim it as a solid strategy game.

So... what's your saying on the matter?

Does anyone feels the FAF balancing begin to off the track now?

They did great job to make game balanced from the observation of top players.

At beginner some unit adjustment seems fine. But during long time accumulation, the feature changes across history has introduced more complex features and statistic to consider.

At the end, they have to change more features because simple eco cost change is not enough to cover their previous modification.

So, more and more it feels less then original game taste.

Example from my mind include:

- Novax remove omni, and introduce energy drain

- GC claw

- Mercy

- Snipe bot range

- ACU tml

It just feels more and more wired.

They keep doing game feature changes like the game is just launched on market a week ago.
I really don't understand why they are so eager to modify a game feature instead of just eco tweak.

BrowserRTS – classic large-scale RTS in your browser

I'm a solo dev, and I wanted a big real-time strategy game my friends and I could just click into together – so I built one that runs in a browser tab.

It's a full classic SupCom-inspired RTS: land, air and sea, T1-T3 tech, a flow economy, strategic zoom from a single unit out to the whole map, procedural maps so no two games are alike, and an assassination win condition – lose your commander, lose the game.

You can play skirmish vs the AI, or share a lobby link and friends drop straight in. Multiplayer is peer-to-peer, so it's just you and the other players, no server in between.

Give it a try, hope you enjoy it.

I ove SupCOM but...

What the hell is up with FAF stability? 50% of matches end with someone crashing, that's if you can even get a game, because everyone loves sitting in a lobby and not readying up. Unfortunatly its sucked away my love of the game and I play BAR or 0K more now because they at least can finish a game

Dreadnought from Dust Front, a perfect new addition to Supreme Commander?

Hello fellow Commanders, I just wanted to share here my idea for a possible mod crossover of sorts.

I believe that a this T4 Experimental hybrid tank and self-propelled artillery would be a really interesting unit for either the UEF or Cybrans given it's color-scheme.

As the description says, in Dust Front it acts as a super heavy self-propelled artillery unit of sorts that is normally deployed in it's "siege mode" similar to StarCraft but can also become mobile and move with a devastating triple battery almost battle-ship level firepower. It also has an upgrade that turns it into a proper artillery piece with a huge siege gun cannon that cannot fire on the move anymore and requires to be deploted in order to be effective. Just my 2-cents, that is all. Cheers.

Looking for the name of a wave defence game mode mod

Haven't played the game for years now, but there used to be a mod that created a kind of wave defence/tower defence game mode designed for co-op.

It was on one of the darker maps, with enemies entering from the north end of the map and players spawning in the south. I think it had spawn locations for up to 8? players, and the goal was to survive 20 minutes or so against waves of ever increasing enemies up to multiple experimental units at once.

does anyone know what this map/mod was called?
