GSXR rear shock on my 2nd Gen
Installed a 2007 GSXR rear shock on my 2004 SV650N. Required a bit of modification but overall cost about $50 CAD. OEM shock lost its seal and I was quite frustrated that it wasn’t serviceable so I figured I’d upgrade. Had to remove and cut out the original tool kit and add threads to the GSXR shock but otherwise it was straightforward.
Really happy with how it feels, feels like a new bike.
I know it needs a wash doing that this weekend.
Suzuki SV650S 1999 clutch lever sensor plug broke. Can I just short the two wires to bridge it?
Question As stated in the title. I just need that thing to run, but the plug on the wire harness side is heavily corroded and won‘t register if the clutch has been pulled, so the bike won’t start even in neutral. I did short the plug with some copper wire and the motor started starting, but immediately cuts off again because the copper wire obviously isn’t a well fitting plug and constantly loses connection. My idea is to just cut off the plug completely and directly connect the cables together. Am I overseeing something?
3rd gen sv650 radial brake master cylinder
Thought I would add information to this topic.
Installed a gsxr750 radial brake master cylinder 2015-2026 (the redesigned one after the recall), it was literally plug and play and I still retained the mirror mount. Brake light module was the plug and play part.
Only thing I needed was an adaptor for an axial mount to radial mount for the brake banjo bolt.
This was the initial install WITHOUT installing SS lines.
My 2023 sv650 is a commuter and I will be changing over to SS lines at the 5 year mark in 2028. This lever upgrade actually does help in brake feel quite a bit. I am still on stock rubber lines and brake pads/rotors.
I would highly recommend this upgrade as brake feel has improved a bit. It is not a night and day difference but I can definitely feel the initial bite being harder. As I bought used I got a good deal on the whole assembly and it was like new from a guy who probably upgraded for their gsxr750 track bike.
The stock lines almost felt like it wouldn’t go in. In hindsight I would go for the SDT with a slight 25 degree bend rather than the straight 90 degree one to allow for more of a clearance from the banjo bolt to the handlebar.
I reused half of the clamp for an adapter to mount the reservoir.
Am monitoring for leaks but this setup seems great after a short rip around my neighbourhood.
I appreciate the bleeder valve at the top of the lever, and used that to help with the install (as I recently did a brake flush so didn’t need to bleed everything all over again). It worked very well and is an “ease of life” feature. I don’t even need to do the whole “zip tie the brake lever overnight” thing as the bleeder valve does that in a much faster way.
Let me know if you have any questions but I thought this might be interesting for those that ask how does the radial brake master cylinder help WITHOUT SS lines.
Big Belly
I gave my baby a “pot belly” she still doesn’t know the difference between a bike and a chopper l… or who Zed was
Any interest in ohlens?
This came from my first gen starter bike. Is it anything special? Any market?
Looking for slightly lower bars for a gen 3
Any recommendations before I spend my money?
Replacing the the dog bones / rear shock linkage.
Just went to install some shorter dog bones on the SV, but can't get the lower bolt out as it fouls on the frame on the exhaust / sidestand mount point.
Am I missing something obvious to make the job easy, or have I got to drop the whole assembly out to get at it?
