Yaesu FT65-R

Hey all you Commers, just a quick two questions for y'all today from someone kinda finishing getting their feet into the pool

- What U94 PTT would y'all recommend (2-pin Motorola style) for a Yaesu FT65-R & Peltor Comtacs (5/6) combo? So far I've had no luck getting audio or the PTT to key.

- Any Molle pouch y'all recommend for the Yaesu FT65-R?

Thanks in advance

MSA SORDIN downlead help

I recently purchased a MSA Sordin Headset with comms/downlead on the left side. I cannot find an adapter for the downlead, and wanted to know if anyone had any advice or could point me in the right direction. I haven’t decided on a radio yet but my first goal is find a way to attach this to a radio lol.

Budget comms setup recommendations?

Looking to get a setup for comms at night while I'm coyote calling with a buddy. not familiar enough to know the best starter setup. doesn't need to be crazy just 2 units with some means of talking to each other up to 2 miles away but often withing a mile. budget is 3-400 but i can spend a bit more if there is a Goated setup for around that price point. any and all recommendations welcome thanks in advance!

Budget Comtac V to Baofeng PTT?

As the title says, I have a pair of Comtac V dual lead that I want to connect to my Baofeng DM32 and im looking for a decent budget PTT for it. I dont really mind the sound only coming from one side so im not really looking for a splitter or anything.

I also have the Peltor PTT that's the NATO 6 pin, so maybe getting a baofeng to 6 pin adapter might be cheaper. Id like to keep it under $100 USD if possible

Capabilities Display (by no means all inclusive 😎)

What’s up everybody,

Not sure if I posted here before but, at the time of this post, I wanted to show case the man pack I put together using an Armoloq chassis and ICOM2730.

The battery box, antenna relocation cover, front and rear walls were all designed by and produced by myself using PA12–CF filament.

In the first photo, I’m showing how you can run one of your down leads from whatever tactical headset with a NATO down lead plug to the NATO plug on the man pack so you can listen through your headset, and not have whatever is on that frequency blasting through the handset. You do, however, I have to press the PTT and speak into said handset when transmitting.

And, with dual Peltors, run your other down lead to your “squad level” radio.

Let me know what you guys think!

New Business

Hey guys — figured I’d introduce myself and what I’m working on.

I’m Kevin, owner of Pollux Field Systems, a small comms-focused business I recently started with the goal of helping individuals, teams, preparedness groups, and small businesses build communications setups that actually make sense for what they’re trying to accomplish.

That includes helping people navigate radio selection, licensing and frequency coordination, programming, antennas, accessories, and putting together complete systems instead of just buying a radio and hoping for the best.

I’m also starting to venture further into ATAK, Meshtastic, and civilian MANET-style solutions. I’m currently working with NATAK Mesh to offer their Nucleus civilian MANET platform, and with Sweetgrass Actual on radio holster options for several different radios.

On the radio side, I’m currently selling and supporting stuff from Retevis, Ailunce, BTECH, Baofeng, and a few others, with plans to move into some higher-end radio offerings as the business grows.

I’m still very much in the early stages, so inventory and offerings are pretty slim right now, but I’m adding things as quickly as I can without just filling the store with random gear I don’t believe in.

If you want to check it out:

Instagram: @pollux_fs

I’m on Facebook as Pollux Field Systems as well.

Looking forward to contributing here, learning from everyone, and hopefully helping some people build better comms setups along the way.🤙🏾

Battery cover for Comtac VIII-

Somehow lost the battery cover. Is there anyplace I can get another without buying an entire case?

If someone has a spare from a broken set I’d pay for it.
Any help is appreciated gents.
