Sony HVR-FX1 w/ Century 0VS-FE3X-HDS fisheye and MRC-1

Hi all, this is my new setup for filming action sports! a while ago i made a post about a Sony HVR-Z7 that i managed to get this fisheye to work with (albeit with some vig in the shot) which i bought with a busted tape deck

i already had the mrc-1 so i went and got that, fast forward to now i got this fx1 for £73 shipped with a busted deck, mrc-1 to the rescue again lol!

this is one of two models this lens was specifically designed for and with it being a good bit lighter than the Z7 i’m super stoked on it, plus i get the 3CCD goodness lol

sorry again for huge essays, last pic is a screen grab from some test footage x

Sony Dcr trv900e pal how to get tapeless recording.

Im pretty lost to be honest, I see those easycap things and then comments saying they are crap, but im pretty stuck on what to do since my budget isnt huge and anything from amazon is expensive to ship and takes a month, so i want to be sure. Can someome give me a rundown on how I can record videos with this camera (not just suggesting i buy another camera) without getting myself scammed? I also have a raspberry pi4b if using that as a middle man makes any difference.

Please be kind, im.just trying to get my parents camera recording again.

Thank you in advance.

Need help with cable configuration for Panasonic NV GX7

Looking for help please! I’m going to do a minDVR setup, as for me it’s just small and compact, and less mess and budget friendly.

But I’m trying to figure out wether I need to solder a custom cable, for it to with work the MiniDVR. I’ve seen these tapeless companies that sell tapeless and use TRS to TRRS cables. So could I not just buy one from online somewhere, But not sure if it’s going to work with my camcorder, and looking online the chart that people use, it doesn’t have a Panasonic pin output configuration.

So please if anyone could just help me get this set up, would be massively appreciated.

Help with my sony vx2100

im trying to set up my immersion rc with my sony vx2100 and im running into alot of problems my main one is having the cable not fully inersetd but i think i can fix that wiht just a cable tie, my second main problem is getting the recording to acctually start on the immeriosn. I'm really confused about how to get the process started, as when I hit record on my camera, it starts beeping and complaining about no tape inside, but everyone has told me not to record with a tape inside. I'm just a little confused about how to actually get the recording started on the immersion.

Jvc SXM 330u on screen display doesn't go away unless tape is inserted

To basically sum it up, if there isn't a tape inserted the t30 battery and tape symbol will not go away on the video output unless there is a tape inserted. I've messed with every setting and looked through the entire guide and nothing says anything about this. I'm scared that if the tape drive shits itself then I won't be able to get a clean recording ever again in the future.

Tapeless Sony hdr fx7e with Equip-1

Forget your powerplay, the best tapeless solution is here !

Macbook

Why is digitizing impossible without a MacBook. There is literally no optimal option for tapeless if you have a windows laptop, everything needs firewire. Is there a way to use a FireStore FS-4 without a Mac?

Found a way to connect the camcorder to my phone

It has around the same quality as a mini dvr setup style but it saves directly to your phone.

My TRV-138 has a dark screen.

Hi everyone! I have a Sony TRV-138 that I recently bought as is. I cleaned some fungus and moisture from the optical block, and until now it seemed to be working perfectly, but the image is very dark. I have no idea what it could be, even with the exposure at maximum, this is the result I get. These images are from a capture made with EasyCap directly on my cell phone; the environments in the images are fully illuminated, but the image comes out like this. Can anyone identify what it could be?

So, PowerPlay makes different types of DV cameras output the same color profile, right?

I just bought a black PowerPlay (apparently made by another company). I was really excited to install it on my TRV900 and shoot some footage, but I noticed the colors weren’t as vivid as the 3CCD footage.

So I tried it on my Hi8 DV camera and PC-series DV camera as well. After exporting the footage, I found that all three videos had exactly the same color output.

Does anyone else get the same result? Even with the “official” white PowerPlay?😅

Audio distortion

I recently found a Sony high eight 460 zoom camera at a thrift store it records fine onto tape with Great audio on playback but for my mini DVR tape was set up the audio comes out very low quality. I leave for college in a week and a half and would like to have this sorted before college. What can I buy or do to fix this situation?

As a heads up the only place I can plug a chord into is through a 3.5 jack, s video out, and 2.5 mm jack

VX2000

Setting up my first tapeless vx2000 and wondering what converter I should get. If there are good cheap ones that would be ideal but I wouldn't want to sacrifice quality. My LCD screen is cooked so I would need one with a screen. Thanks!

Possible fix for mini dvr audio

The audio for the Mini DVR is genuinely garbage and peaks way too easily, so I figured I could put a 47k ohm resistor in the audio wires, which seemed to work well for me. If anyone has an alternative fix, please lmk

Turned my aunts old vhs-c camera into a tapeless

It may look like a fire hazard, and I definetly can't go through airport security if I have it fully mounted, but it sure as hell has a vibe...

It's a Gradiente vhs-c videomaker an entry camcorder from Brasil in the 80s.

I had to adapt pretty much everything for it to work lol, it now has an external 6v battery pack for the camera, a mini dvr, which unfortunately sucks in audio quality, an external monitor so I can see properly what the image will look like, since the original viewfinder kinda sucks and is B&W only and the monitor itself requires another battery pack, but 12v instead.

Only thing left is for me to adapt another AV/p2 cable since I only have one, as I've been using the original viewfinder up until a few days ago and only had one cable adapted.

MiniDV to Digital Transfering

Audio/Video friends:

Anyone know the fastest/most affordable option for transferring MiniDV tapes to a digital format? I’ve tried doing it myself and it just takes too much time. Most other options I’ve found cost a fortune to transfer and take months to get back. (I have a ton of tapes). Shoot me some ideas!

MiniDV Firewire Recorder using Raspberry PI 5, PCIe Hat, Firewire PCI card.

Hi,
I build a MiniDV firewire recorder using a rasperry pi 5 (1gb because ram is expensive). It has an UPS-hat and a PCIE hat. The pice firewire card is connected by a riser cable to the m.2 M-Key slot of the raspberry pci hat. The pci card needs 12V which is provided by the boost converter module which is connected to the UPS-Hat. The Display is a Raspberry compatible MIPI DSI Touch Display. Which worked out of the Box with the current raspbian image - Nice. It all runs on Battery - don't know how long.

You need to recompile the kernel with FireWire module enabled. I did it on device, took ages.

you can record with a single command, no desktop environment needed:
dvgrab is for recording the minidv input.
ffmpeg is for encoding to file. I experimented with different compression settings (-crf 24), it's interesting to see how the CPU-usage is affected by different settings. (higher compression => higher CPU-usage)

ffplay is for showing the current camera feed.

export DISPLAY=:0
dvgrab -format raw - \
| tee >(\
ffmpeg -i - -c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -vf "bwdif=mode=1" -crf 25 -tune zerolatency -pix_fmt yuv420p "recording_$(date +%Y-%m-%d_%H%M%S).mp4")
\| ffplay -fflags nobuffer -flags low_delay -vf "drawtext=fontfile=/usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf:text='%{pts\:hms}':fontsize=24:fontcolor=white:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.5:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=h-50" -i -

The whole thing is not really reliable now. I thing I have contact issues with the FireWire cable. When I move the Camera around it shakes the connector and i get weird artifacts and then it stops working.
Also an UI would be nice.
I have also the Problem that the camera goes into demo mode and cylcles through its effects.
I heard you can put a Tape into it and leave it at the end? Need to try that.
The Viewfinder is using a grayscale CRT, that's making an high pitched noise, like CRTs do. That's why i prefer to use the LCD of my SONY-TRV110E. The sound is otherwise still noisy.
