Hello, do you have any tips for getting started with creating drone/ambient music using tape loops? I live in Paris and am having a really hard time finding used cassettes that are sealed with screws so I can open them easily.

I started this design about 5 years ago. It was impractical to make so I started to learn computer modelling and got a 3D printer. This needs some small tweaks but it’s running smoothly
Screw driver (what size)? Sticky tape (what kind)? Scissors or knife for cutting? Chopping board? Anything else?
It’s actually the third one this month and that’s kinda my fault for not paying attention during email chains. First one had a nice turnout of 15ish. Second one had only three which ended up being a blast we all just kinda hung out and made tapeloops and listened to them.
We’re also taking part in a fundraiser that same day in the evening and hopefully everyone who made tapes shows up to play them, I’ll have a grip of tape decks going. If not I have a lot of premade tapes to use.
Planning on a lot of reverb and individual fx for each deck with either reverb or delays. A bit worried about it but it should be a blast to improvise the performance, as one does.

My first time making one of these but I understand the concept and science behind it. I'll be making a scratching /loop deck that will not only work with cassette tapes but also gift cards, credit cards, vhs tapes and anything with a magnetic strip.
Eliane Radigue's piece Vice Versa was originally a single reel of magnetic tape with the handwritten instructions:
"Stereo tape - 2 tracks
The piece can be played:
• Track 1 separately
• Track 2 separately
• Tracks 1 & 2, simultaneously"
When Important Records released a CD of this expanded on this by providing two discs. One with the two tracks at four different speeds, and one with the two tracks. In reverse at those different speeds. An additional comment of:
"This will allow dedicated listeners to experiment with simultaneous playback of the work's different versions, recreating the conditions of the original installations"
I took note of this and decided to do my own take. I first recorded the regular speed tracks to a tape reel approximately matching the one the originals were recorded on. Then I recorded that to endless loop tapes at the various speeds. Here you can see me dubbing the final loop tape and performing with all of the speeds in symphony.
