What age did you let youngest join the ride? And preferred setup.

I have a 4 1/2 year old and a 10 1/2 month old. I'm eager to add a second seat, and would love any recommendations on what setup and if age range feels appropriate?

I have the tern gsd s10 with clubhouse fort and currently one thule yepp maxi 2, which my 40 lbs four year old still sits in comfortably.

The 10 month old is moving and grooving, can sit and stand and shows great neck strength (no issue holding head up when we tested a helmet..

2nd battery storage Tern HSD

Has anyone found any 3rd party tools to fixate a second battery to the HSD downtube? I am looking for options to store the second battery without having to take up same in cargo and make it more permanent. I don’t expect to wire it up but just ease of connivence

How do you lock this thing?!

Hi I just got a Quick Haul Long with Clubhouse and Stormbox. I haven’t bought a lock yet but will need to as I live in Vancouver and bike theft risk is insanely high no matter where you go. Will likely buy the Diamond rated kryptonite u lock and lock the front with a less secure u lock in addition to the cafe lock. The point is to ride the bike, which I can’t if I have to worry about it being stolen during my day to day activities. I’m not going to be silly and leave it for hours at a time in a super sketchy area.

Trying it out, I can‘t really figure how to squeeze a ulock past the stormbox, through the frame, back tire, and a bike rack. Its also almost impossible to maneuver the bike snug against the rack since the back side is so heavy and the storm box makes the bike so wide.

Any tips for locking up the bike (or GSD) in a high theft area? Or how to lock the bike securely in general with a stormbox or large wide panniers? I know there’s chains and folding locks but those aren’t going to be secure enough for me.

Maybe it’s overkill but the bike was damn expensive, I don’t want to lose it. Thank you!!!

Wife lacking confidence

We've had our Gen 3 GSD for around four months now - our kids and I love it. My partner however have only ridden it in a couple of occasions and only with me close by as she lacks confidence whilst riding it. She's a reasonably experienced cyclist but she feels unsafe what riding the GSD due to it's weight.

Her main worry is that when manoeuvring she'll lose control of the bike and not be able to prevent it falling and injuring the kids.

She's a lot smaller than me (but not tiny) and I'm struggling to advise her too much as I don't have the same challenge. Any tips on how to manage the bike as a smaller rider or in gaining confidence would be a big help!

Sudden degradation in range?

2024 Tern GSD with around 1500 miles. Regularly maintained.

My usually range for Eco is 56 miles and on Turbo in the mid 20s. I typically ride 4-6 days per week, about 10-12 miles a day. About a mile stretch uphill.

Yesterday I get on the bike and notice that the Eco range is only 32 miles and Turbo is 14. I finish my ride just thinking it was a fluke and charge the battery. This morning when I go to ride the range is the same, 32 miles on Eco and 14 in Turbo.

Any ideas on what could cause such a sudden degradation in range?

How do I gauge the battery condition of a new but old HSD S+?

I'm looking at an HSD S+ which is new from a bike shop but which has been sitting on display for years. Does the two year battery life issue then kick in for it (as in batteries start dying or become unusable after two years) or would that not be the case because it's been sitting with a bike shop? Is there a battery health display on the Terns I can look at? Thanks.

Kickstand bounces over every speedbump

Every time I ride over a speed bump on my gen 2 the kickstand bounces and goes clunk. There are a lot of these in London so happens quite often.
Does this happen to or bother anyone else?
It was suggested to glue use strong magnets to hold it in place but I can’t figure out how this would practically work.

Looking for a Clubhouse Child Seat Expansion Bar in Europe

Hi! Recently I’ve became a proud owner of Gen2 S10. As I bought it as a used bike, there is a missing expansion bar for Clubhouse. Does anyone have it in EU laying around and would like to sell it? Had no luck in finding it via local distributors and Tern is not responding to my email.

Best options for commuting with a dress shirt?

I commute to work, roughly 10 miles each way, 2 to 3 days a week. The commute means I’m too sweaty to not shower. What is the best way to transport a dress shirt on a tern gsd while also transporting a kid?

I have the large panniers on back and large front rack (transporter?)

Tradeoff: HSD S+ (gen 1) or HSD P10 (gen 2)??

Lusted after TERN for years, finally buying my first! Also first mid drive! - I've got about US$4K - give or take $500, to spend. 66 year old guy, fitness, errands, pleasure. Love belt drive + IGH idea, for simplicity & less bike shop time. Found a local S+ at $3700. Ticks all the specs, and I love the idea of automatiq. Concerns are ongoing support (but it is Bosch), plus I'm a tech fan. New Gen 2 w/belt (S00, S5i) are out of budget. But P10 w/derailleur fits & I can add converter for GPS & Flow app. Or go with P10 and live w/derailleur (I've never had IGH before). I need advice & voice of experience here. I hear IGH doesn't shift under load well, some say they're mushy. I love ability to shift at a stop if I forget. Anyone out there with experience with Enviolo, Automatiq or otherwise, as well as the Shimano 5 and 8 IGH hubs as compared to derailleur setups? So many questions, I've learned just enough to be dangerous! TIA, Mike.

Need help figuring out where this bolt goes.

This bolt fell off my tern gsd (gen 3) when I stood it up and I'm curious if anyone knows where it might go? Can't seem to find a place for it.
