An Addendum to Tamrielic Lore - An Update

Hey everyone,

I'm PikachunoTM on Nexus, and have been working on a project (you've probably seen it on the Nexus if you recognize my name) called AATL - An Addendum to Tamrielic Lore, in which I add a bunch of old artifacts from previous games and new artifacts as well.

I figured I'd post here again as my last update on reddit was 8 years ago... it's come a long way since then, especially as better tools have released and I have become more familiar with making mods.

There's a lot more than just the pictures I posted, so feel free to check it out here:

Thanks for checking it out :)

requesting help installing Total Overhaul on OpenMW on Bazzite

so, i've gone through all the steps for the automated install on OpenMW's webpage up to "Run the Configurator", so now it's time to run the

./momw-configurator-linux-amd64 config --verbose --run-navmeshtool --run-validator total-overhaul

command. so, i run the command, and the following is what pops up:

(ignore the --REDACTED-- in the file paths)

so, the files it's looking for SHOULD be there, i used the automated process so that i couldn't personally fuck it up. i went and looked and the 0AAB_TelMora_Female Guards.ESP IS there. the only thing i can't find isn't the oaab_tel mora.esp plugin, i can only find a .esm by the same name

so i'll be first to admit, modding isn't my strong suit and doing so in a terminal is even less my strong suit. i know it was a capital C Choice to go ahead and try to install a gigantic mod list, from within a terminal but as i'm on Bazzite and couldn't use the automated process with the OpenMW flatpack, this is the option i had for installing said aforementioned gigantic mod list.

could someone give me some direction on what to do next? the impression i'm getting is MAYBE i need to dig around in the openmw.cfg but i'm really at a loss here, and after pressing 'Slow Download' 600+ times last night and having this fail on this step this morning, morale is at an all time low.

Help needed with installing "Expanded Vanilla"

I had the modlist installed about a week ago and it was working just fine and after finishing my playthrough I checked for updates yesterday (by doing a clean re-install of the whole modlist using the same archives as my previous version) in anticipation of the Poison Song TR update that's not out yet.

But now there seems to be a exactly one newly updated mod that is bricking the installation or more specifically the configurator as the files are all installed.

https://preview.redd.it/34fz3dfap4kh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=456399ace727301ef0d6d6f0914cfaa85d636a0e

the mod is called OAAB Tel Mora. it has just updated yesterday and it changed it's esp into esm format for what I assume to be increased compatibility down the line but right now it's causing a patch for it from the mod "Mora - Diverse blood" to not recognize the newly updated esp to esm (indicated in yellow in above picture) . "OAAB Tel Mora" last version before this update was in 2024.

How do I fix this? Might there be a command to install the previous working version of the modlist?

Level Cap Mod

I'm looking for a simple mod that lets you set a level cap. You would still be able to level up your skills, just that resting once at the designated level cap no would no longer increase your level, no matter how much level progress you make. Also, has to work in OpenMW.

Edit: figured out a good solution, based on the idea from the Simple Delayed Leveling mod that makes it so that more skill increases are required to gain a level. it's pretty simple to edit GMSTs with openmw-cs.exe:

-select the option to create a new addon

-select Morrowind.esm

-give it a project name

-under Mechanics, select Game Settings (aka GMSTs)

-scroll down to iLevelUpTotal, edit the value to 9999

-Save the project (File > Save or ctrl + S)

-in the openmw-launcher.exe the addon should appear in Data Files > Content Files, check the box

it will now take 9999 skill increases to level instead of 10, which is naturally impossible. You just have to disable it manually when you want it off, which is easy. Instead of doing all this, I guess you could just hit esc to cancel the level up each time you rest, but i'd just rather not

Noobie question here but how come sometimes my textures don’t work?

So I’ve downloaded a few texture mods and install them the same way and some of them work and some don’t.

I take the zip file and extract it into a folder then that folder goes into my data files. I click append in my open mw launcher and I see the textures right there so I click on it and start the game

And sometimes it works perfectly and other times nothing happens at all. I’m still able to play the game it’s just that there’s no texture change? Is it because it’s conflicting with other texture mods? Is there a way I can see where the conflicts/problems are coming from?

My most recent mod that I couldn’t get to work was this one https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/55036?tab=images

Mod to make The Fog regional?

I genuinely really love the close oppressive fog of the original Morrowind, I think it works really well for establishing the atmosphere… in places like Seyda Neen and Gnaar Mok. But it doesn’t work quite as well in the sunny Grazelands or regions like Anvil. Is there a mod to limit view distance in only certain regions, or just to add more complex weather in general? Thanks!

[Mod Release] Handheld Creative Mode for OpenMW – Controller-Friendly Furniture & Object Placement

I’ve been working on giving OpenMW a little more love for handheld and controller users, and I finally released Handheld Creative Mode for OpenMW.

So far, I’ve only been able to test it on the RG406V, so if you use another handheld and are interested, I’d really appreciate people trying it out and letting me know how it runs.

The idea started because I wanted decorating houses in Morrowind to feel less like fighting the controls and more like an actual Bethesda-style build mode.

Right now you can:

  • Move furniture, containers, lights, clutter, and other supported world objects
  • Rotate and raise/lower objects with the controller
  • Use rotation snapping and surface alignment
  • Fine-tune placement with the D-pad
  • Copy the orientation of your last placed object
  • Cancel placement and restore an object to its original position
  • Use a free camera while in Creative Mode
  • Move furniture without accidentally grabbing major walls, floors, or other architecture

I originally built it around my own handheld setup, but it should be useful for anyone who plays OpenMW primarily with a controller.

It’s based on and inspired by Hrnchamd’s Perfect Placement, so full credit to the original work that made this possible.

This is still something I’m actively working on, so feedback, bug reports, handheld compatibility reports, and ideas are definitely welcome.

I want to set up a Morrowind that is modded to hell and back, but for TES3MP to play with friends who've never touched MW before.

Any mod recommendations? At minimum I'm gonna use Tamriel Rebuilt, and Skyrim: HOTN. I'd like to use N'Garde as well to make combat more palatable for them (since vanilla combat is... lacking... by modern standards).

US$20 for the first person to make this mod

Overview: The mod will detect hot key presses (F14-F23). Each of these hot key presses will ready an item tied to a quick key and use it.

In the game itself, there are 10 quick keys, 1-0. These quick keys ready whatever item or skill is assigned to them but do not use it. The hot keys will each be assigned to one quick key and they will both ready the item/skill and use it.

Playing on OpenMW. This has to be a Lua mod.

The finicky part:

If the player character cannot use the item/skill at the moment the hot key is press is detected, the game will either immediately exit that state then use the item/skill or put the use request into a queue that will fire automatically when the character is active again.

Being in dialog, shopping, and looking at inventory are games states that the mod should immediately exit and and then use the item/skill assigned to the hot key. Save/load/option menu, being dead, not having loaded the game, and battle states where my character can't act (paralyzed, stunned) should trigger the queueing behavior of the mod. Basically, if the game can close the state and immediately fire off the item/ability, then the game should; if it can't, queue it.

Payment: I can pay in Steam (or other) gift cards or through Paypal. The $20 price was what the first person who offered to make this mod requested, and I think it's fair. I'll bump it to $30 if the mod is completed today, within the next 24 hours or so.

I've had a couple people offer to make this already, but they've both disappeared. One of the people even said the mod was basically done before disappearing. Meanwhile, I'm getting further and further into Morrowind while using a janky workaround that's making the game as a whole less enjoyable.

To be paid, post the mod to your Nexus account and link it here in a comment. First person to do that get the $20. Let me know if you'd like Paypal or a gc.

I've also tried looking up how to make the mod myself a couple of times -- I'm convinced it's simple enough that I could do it -- but I can't find any useful tutorials and I get lost when just trying to get started. Y'all should make some actual video tutorials for modding OpenMW with Lua, OK? They'd get bunches of views because there literally aren't any.

Clipping through rocks and architecture. Any Fix?

Running openmw with i-heart-vanilla-directors-cut modpack, with 2 extra mods i added myself regarding magic and pickpocketing that shouldn't be impacting the terrain and architecture of the game. Video is in Tamriel rebuilt mainland just above Tur Julan, but have this happen to me very occasionally in Vvardenfell as well.

I'm not really finding any posts around the internet talking about this issue, so I'm assuming it is a personal problem I am having. Anybody got any idea what's going on with my game?

Looking for a specific type of mod

Hello, I've been loving morrowind lately, but I have found myself falling under the min max curse. I've reached level 12 or so without even doing the main quest because I keep stopping to let a rat beat on me for an hour to level heavy armor to not waste any levels. I'm optimizing the fun out of my game.

I'm looking for a mod for open morrowind that's compatible with mobile that will let me set a static number of attribute points per coin, to prevent me standing around grinding forever for the 'perfect' level up.

I've found several that might do that, but being on mobile I have no idea if there are other compatibility issues.

So far I've found Static Attribute Gain and Simple Attribute Gain, both on nexus. Are either of these mobile friendly?

Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is a common question
