Ngl- I’m so tired today and I’m seeing them in PDX.
Do we know what time they come out? I’m thinking of maybe getting there to catch half of the opener but didn’t know if there was a huge gap between them and op act
second time seeing them and it’ll never disappoint also if you were in the group of girls at barricade who let me chat with you here and there thank you i had been without my group for like hours at that point and i was dying to interact with someone lol
hi, i’m looking for the indie exclusive variant of from the pyre and i’m wondering where the cheapest option and quickest to arrive is. looks like vertigo is cheapest but i’ve seen they’re not reliable at all, other option i’ve seen is drowned world but they seem a little slow
Hey everyone,
Unfortunately I’m sick af and won’t be able to attend the last dinner party tn downtown. I’m a huge fan and super bummed to be missing them but I’m couch bound. I have 2 tickets at $90 each that I’d be willing to transfer for free, I just have one request: I really want this vinyl for their album Prelude to Ecstasy - smoky Marble vinyl. If you’d be willing to get this for me and meetup sometime downtown this week, I’d be very grateful. Let me know if you’re interested and shoot me a message. Thx
The beginning of the song was featured on the preview for the Netflix series Unchosen, so now I’m watching it. Not sorry, hehe. Anyone else?
Going to see them on Wednesday and just curious what their merch situation is like, items/price wise. I’m not swimming in gold currently lol but I know I gotta get something :) TYIA!
Wow! Just Wow!
I never heard of this band until last week when I was in a Starbucks with a friend and this amazing guitar riff similar to "Do I Wanna Know" by Arctic Monkeys spiked my ears. I was instantly removed from whatever I was doing and tuned into that song playing which I could barely hear, but I knew it was something amazing.
I immediately had my Google Music app identify the song, and I am thankful I did. I must have listened to this song 20-30 times in the past week or so since I heard it.
for me it is a perfect 10/10 song. The writing is superb, the chords/melody in the chorus tug at my heartstrings in such a way. Her voice, the instrumentation, the unique and very interesting arrangement of the song always keeps you guessing.
The song gives me frisson (chills/goosebumps) by how it hits me. It's simply amazing.
I haven't checked out anything else yet because of lack of time, but this weekend I plan on listening to both albums. I really hope I am not let down. There are so many times you hear one great track by a band and then nothing else hits you.
I will report back here soon! Hopefully I love the experience and then I will buy tickets for one of their NY shows this upcoming February!
I have three tickets located in Orchestra Pit Row 2 Seats 13-15. These are amazing second row seats and I'm selling them at face value on cashortrade.org. I bought these tickets during the pre-sale but unfortunately something came up that will make it really difficult for me to drive down to Portland from Seattle. I'm not trying to make any money off of these, just want to sell to some real TLDP fans. I've had these posted on stubhub for face value plus stubhub fees, but I just found out about cashortrade.org and they're fees are much more reasonable. Buyers pay a 10% protection fee and 3% credit card processing fee. Seems like the best option to keep the transaction safe for both buyers and sellers.
I'm curious about how other people perceive the lyrics! I can't stop listening, I hope they'll go even heavier and heavier in the future, cause its just too good man.
But! What do you think of lyrics? Because its interesting to me how shes calling another person a 'big dog', and then herself too. When I listen to it I'm imagining, as kids, you'd play "against" your friends, whatever it is, board games or sports, and when you win, you feel good and would probably make fun of the friend who lost, but ultimately, yall still friends. So I see it as maybe a song about professional competitiveness in the relationship. That as the moment of a 'win' situation for her, but the song is still pretty flirty, so maybe there's sort of an open ending ?🤔
Big Dog is officially out! what do you think of it?? What do you think of the song and the lyrics?
I love the song so much! They have such rock n roll spirit and Abigail’s voice is insane. She can make her voice fit to any emotion.
I saw the band last month in DC and was blown away. For perspective, I’m probably one of a relatively few of their fans who also saw The Beatles in concert. Anyway, since the show, I’ve been binging on TLDP’s music, both studio and live. So, here’s my question- recognizing that it’s subjective, is there a better voice in pop/rock today than Abigail’s? I honestly can’t think of one.
Do people dress up for their shows? My girlfriend wants to plan accordingly 🤣 thanks in advance
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress of Abigail’s. I’ve been searching for a dress to go to prom in for ages and would’ve love something like this. What are some affordable shops that have something like this?
the lede is buried because the intro spoken track “Come All You Beasts” is phenomenal. Perfect track to psyche yourself up for the battle. 5 stars.
This track is delightfully theatrical. Like many of this band‘s works it is critical of a personality that has gone out of control and out of bounds. Big Dog starts with a bang and sets the tone that this is a song about a larger-than-life person. The lines „You are so sweet, I‘m a big dog / My feet bleed from dancing“ allude to an exaggerated life style of fame and subjugation, as the line „Lick them clean like you‘re my big dog“ make clear. The instrumentation drops heavy from the first bar. The guitars sound great on this one and the singer‘s voice sounds raspy like she fell out of bed after a night of heavy substance abuse. The lyrics are strange and familiar at the same time. Because they are about a narcissistic life style, as the lines „I‘m behind you, I‘m a big dog“ and „mechanical rabbit, let me punch you out“ allude to. A lifestyle on the prowl, hunting stuff down. The restlessness of this is mirrored in the instrumentation, as the tension is never resolved. Big dog is a track that hits hard and comes across as a confused romp right on the verge of a mental breal. But this is a compliment. Because this track is perceived like this, it gets the listener‘s attention and as absurd as the metaphor of the „big dog“ is, isn‘t it somehow rooted in our mundane reality? Since such larger-than-life personalities as is here portrayed do exist, their egos steadily fed by fame and success. This track is a fun listen and draws the listener in to some sort of desillusioned mood that is captivating enough to give this a repeat listen, in order to grasp the full meaning of the lyrics. It is a well produced track that brings across a very specific artistic vision and succeeds at that, while lacking true staying power or a message that goes beyond a very specific experience.

Hello,
I think I recall the band had a bandcamp at some point but they removed it while now signed to a big label.
I had bought From the Pyre and Prelude to Esctasy on some random FLAC sites (sadly I can't register to Qobuz from Bulgaria), but can't find anything for Big Dog.
Obviously I have downloaded the song on Deezer for offline listening on my player, but I'd like to have the file.
