So did menzi end up like his dad
When Joyce said menzi will never be like him but then we saw how he treated girls and sleeping with Linda so I mean wow is that symbolism or grief what do you think and will he split the money lol with his family

In my opinion, from based what I seen so far…I definitely think that after the twins were born. That was her breaking point, I definitely thought when Jonsai choked Menzi…she would’ve exploded but clearly not.
During the 18 year time-span between Joyce/Essie and Matipa/Lindani…. How many women do you believe Jonasi slept with and how many other kids fathered as a result?
Clearly, he has no sexual restraint. So I imagine he’s been cheating on Joyce for the entirety of their marriage and getting away with it. It perhaps only took 18 years for one of his side women to decide they wanted him all to themselves and publicly act on it. Everyone else must be willing to hide in second place like Essie.
There must be at least 20 other baby Jonasi’s running around given his refusal to wear condoms and his “children are blessings” stance.
Ever since this show started trending, I’ve seen many people share their thoughts across various internet platforms but the trend has been the same throughout, if they’re not praising Jonasi for his audacity they’re bashing the involved women for enabling him. Yet no one says anything about how the effects of Jonasi’s behaviour and the enabling affected more than just the spouses and was actually damaging his children. Sarah for example had to live 19 years of the life kept as a secret and even after everyone found out, she was still treated badly. I’ve come to realize that this is actually not an anomaly in plural marriages, oftentimes the children suffer the most. They do not get individual time with the father which causes resentment.
Just my two cents on the show..
FYI, I'm a caucasian and Australian first nations mixed woman. Living in Australia.
Why in gods name are the women on this show the most stunning, beautiful goddess divine creatures I've ever seen in my life but every single man is ugly, fat, or ugly and fat?
Does this truly reflect the culture in SA? Are these ugly ass men out here dating super model material women?

Not gonna lie, as a coloured woman, watching this take on polygamy as a concept of tradition in the Zulu culture, this series infuriated me to no end. Every episode I was like " yoh! Wtf! Haibo! Omg!" Because had this been a coloured wife finding out about a second woman, the J and M would've been dead in the second episode already. There wouldn't be a series. This can't really be how it is?? Is it really like this ? Are there really Zulu men out there having this entitled, selfish and arrogant approach to polygamy?
**SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS SECTION**
Thank you to the person who created this subreddit because I have no one else I can rant to about this show🤣😭
I’m only on episode 15 (been binge watching since yesterday 😅) and all I can say is OH MY DAYS🤦🏾♀️😭
I’m not a part of the South African culture or even polygamy, but at the start of the show, I was like “okay yeah, this is a wretched man but they will probably still be able to make it work” - this was me talking about the relationship type, not the plot line of the tv show.
The creator/director sure made me eat my words because I later came to the decision that I truly hate the women (we’re now at a count of 4😭) who are culpable throughout this whole mess but WOW do I hate Jonsai the most!
Jonsai is really the final boss lol so I’m currently betting with myself on who will be the one to take this evil manipulator out 🤣 I’ll probably update in this thread when I get to the end of the show but pls, SOMEONE, tell me that they’ve also been losing their minds and having to pause the show, with every episode after ep 4?!?
I’ve watched my fair share of drama/soap tv shows but this one… this one has to take the win for having me so invested!!
Keen to hear everyone’s thoughts on the most problematic characters or even the culture depicted (but pls let’s be respectful, otherwise there’s no point in having the conversation).
If you have any similar shows you’d recommend, please feel free to share!🤍
This final speech by Joyce will live rent free in my head for a very long time!
Enjoy 😎
“Things could have ended differently for you and me. But you thought it best to be a smart-arse. You motherfucker.”
Ok so I'm Nigerian American & not for nothing this show triggered me sooo bad
I' just finished and I'm still thinking about it , there so much I want to rant about, specifically the damages on the children & it was both refreshing and eye opening.
Open to opinions/ debriefs/ perspective in this thread
Genuine question, is it common or was it deliberately chosen? What's your take?
The wig work alone is absolutely bonkers. I'm obsessed.
That's it that's the story
Lindani ? Your daughter friend ?????????
This whole polygamy and patriarchy we see in jonasi and in real life comes from the hypergamy women and young girls chase always going for the high status , high class , most money men they see and then putting so much into those men who will always be with other women and not be loyal because they feel like they worked hard to be in that position and it gives them a false entitlement over all women and the women themselves enable that by constantly choosing and staying with these men because of how high they placed them , think of lindani who could’ve been with menzi , matipa with magesh as an example of bad choices due to their hypergamous choices
Is it me or was there two different babies used?
Why didn't any of those women leave the relationship? Only Matipa had the" balls to do so, but it cost leaving her children behind. Was it selfish. Too many questions we need a Season 2!!!
Essie frustrated me so much. I just can't understand loving someone so much that you completely disappear in the process.
What frustrated me the most wasn't even the polygamy. It was how completely okay she was with accepting crumbs. Crumbs of love. Crumbs of attention. Crumbs of respect. She never chose herself. Every decision she made revolved around Jonasi or Joyce, but never around her own dignity.
And the saddest part? Her children paid the price. They're the ones who suffered the most because she kept accepting a situation that benefited everyone except her.
People call her loyal. I don't.
That's not the kind of loyalty I want. I never want to be so loyal to someone who keeps choosing themselves and everyone else over me while I keep making them my number one. That's not devotion—that's self-abandonment.
I know that polygamy is part of culture in some countries, but the thing is polygamy is always one sided....it's always the MEN that get to have multiple wives. And get to? Obviously it seems like polygamy was even accepted was because they're all just sex crazed and then manipulate women on accepting it and only victimize themselves.
I always wonder if it's education, or lack of knowing the outer world but it does baffle me that this is accepted. If both men and women can be polygamists, then great, but I've never heard of women with multiple husbands.
This storyline really opens up cheating and turning it back to "culture." Clearly no one knows how to communicate and the sad part is a lot of the culture world wide is still the same with lack of communication.
Wonder when things will shake up....
How much of this could’ve been avoided with any semblance of safe sex?
