Robert Talbott basic red paisley

I hop on this morning to see that our tie brother u/049AbjectTestament_ has set the bar today impossibly high with a smashing POW jacket and tie combo! I’ll do my best here to attempt to keep up.

Robert Talbott tie in a pretty basic, traditional, red paisley. This tie doesn’t come out much, but I think it probably should. What do you all think?🤔

Paired the look with a classic fougere fragrance: Tom Ford Beau de Jour.

Overall, feeling assembled for the day.

Have a great day gents!

Fav Repps

If I was in a communist concentration camp and they only allowed one tie, I would wear this every day 🤣

I sold my collection to an Ebay dealer.

I found a local buyer for my tie collection of 1000-2000 ties. I'm ecstatic. He and his wife are Ebay dealers, so I know they'll survive and get into the hands of somebody that will like them, hopefully somebody who is a gentleman. Gentlemen wear ties and gentlemen seem to be in short supply. ? "A well tied tie is the first serious step in life" - Oscar Wilde.

Louis Vuitton

Part of the collection as mentioned in my previous post was this Louis Vuitton striped blue tie. Branding aside, I do enjoy the pattern of this one however, the material is a little thick for the knots I prefer.

Which tie chould i choose?

I know this might seem controversial and absurd, but i'm 15 years old and choosing a tie. Right now i have brioni, corneliani and canali on my mind. I want to buy a quite luxury statement piece that will be high quality and will be a memorable piece because i will also wear it for graduation this year.

Which option do you think is better and do you have any other suggestions?

Brooks Brothers Repp

An old workhorse BB tie with a PA knot. Thanks again to u/elmegthewise3 who helped me with my pocket square game, the red / blue floral is proving quite versatile!

Have a great day gents!

Corporate Image for Tom James

The colors are a little washed-out, but the shirt is actually a very pale lavender.

Daniel cremieux in a Prince Albert knot

More conservative tie, was difficult to find a pocket square that would work with it but I’m still not convinced it’s great

Just a point of interest. How many do you have?

I thought that at about 2000 ties, I had a large or very large collection. I've not counted them since the turn of the century when I thinned the herd. Mine run from the 1930s to the present. How long have you all been collecting? With me, it's 40 years. I am thinking of selling, but I've no idea how. Ebay or Etsy looks like a full time job and I just retired after working for a living since 1976, and I don't really want another job. They're stored solidly but silk is a heavy fabric and they weigh a lot. Silk may seem light, but it isn't. Mainly, I want to see them go to a gentleman who appreciates such things. Frankly, I'd give most of them to the right person or persons. I don't need the money.

Choosing a wedding tie for my Fiance w/ charcoal suit

Hi all - just need some advice! My Fiance wants me to choose his tie for our wedding. He doesn't have very many currently, so I was thinking it would be nice to get a good quality vintage silk one to mark the occassion. Happy to pay for it. We both love vintage, one of a kind sort of items - but he doesn't like anything too "out there" or with "in your face" logos.

He will be wearing a charcoal grey suit with a white dress shirt and chestnut brown RM William boots and a brown belt. I was thinking of a brown tie to also tie in. The flowers and boutenniere will be Australian natives (think brown/rusty oranges & greens). I have attached some links to the ties I quite like as well as a photo of his suit.

Can you please help me decide which one would go best? And also what colour pocket square? We are in Australia, and the wedding is a month away, so the tie needs to be in Australia for fast shipping too if you happen to find a better suggestion. Thank you!

Today’s Fit - All Brooks Brothers MIUSA OCBD, Silk Tie, & Linen/Cotton Sport Coat.

I cannot believe how much higher quality this older MIUSA OCBD feels compared to a newer made in china OCBD that I also own. This material is much thicker and more robust and really pleasant to touch.
