My mom got diagnosed with thyroid cancer. And doctors say radioactive iodine therapy is a potential pain free option before taking her into surgery. This is available in trivandrum, kochi and chennai. I live in Bangalore and I don't want her to travel long distance for a simple therapy. Heard there is one in our town. Would be really helpful if anyone shares the name of the hospital where it is done in tirunelveli and also some reviews about it!

Hey everyone, we are visiting this weekend. Our train reaches Tirunelveli Junction around 1-1.30 PM, what places we can cover in the rest of the day ? Planning to hire a car. We are interested in Manimuthar and Papanasam areas but it is mentioned that the entry to those places are closed by 3 PM. Can someone guide me what places we can cover ? Any places which doesnt have this 3PM entry limit ? Or Any places we can reach before 3PM, if its the same everywhere? Our plan is to visit any places in and around Tirunelveli and visit Nellaiyappar Temple at last in the night.

Hi all — long shot, but this sub feels like the right place to ask.

I grew up close to the Junction in the 80s/90s. There was a biscuit I used to love back then and I can't for the life of me remember the brand or shop name. What I remember:

- Ginger-like taste (sukku/inji flavour), sweet but with a slightly savoury/salty edge

- Very crumbly texture — it would break and melt rather than snap

- Bought somewhere around the Junction area, possibly from a local bakery or a petti kadai

I suspect it was a local bakery product rather than a big brand (maybe Arasan? Or one of the Melapalayam bakeries that supplied loose biscuits to shops?), but I'd love to know if anyone else remembers this — the name, the bakery, or whether anywhere still makes it.

Anyone from that area and that era who remembers these? Even a shop name or a lead would make my day. Nandri!

So we are planning to visit Thiruchendhur on coming Saturday. Our travel plan is,
Boarding Train in Salem on Friday night
Reaching Tirunelveli on Saturday around 5Am
Will look for rooms to fresh up
Board Thiruchendhur passenger train at 7-15 am after breakfast in Tirunelveli
Reach Thiruchendhur at about 9:45 -10 Am
Complete dharshan around 2pm max
Having lunch
Boarding the passenger back to Tirunelveli again around 3pm
Visit nellaiyappar
Reaching the room for taking 1 hour rest
Checking out around 7;30 to board the train again to Salem.

So our stay in the room will be only 3 hours max.

Makkalae, an NRI here. Coming home after 2 years. But, this time with a baby.
Usually used to book cab from Ambai to pick us from Madurai airport or Tuthukudi airport. but, feed-up with cab services in Ambai. All cars are not maintained and drivers not keeping up with current time. this time, landing at Chennai. Koncham shopping for family and taking train to Tirunelveli and reaching at 4am with lot of luggage. what is a good Cab service that is good & reliable and can book online/by call. Looking for options that i can choose from too.

I use instamart occasionally for my parents and if I'm tied up with work I was trying to order the other day and it showed that "Instamart is coming soon". At first I thought maybe I selected the wrong location however that isn't the case. What happened to it? Any other alternatives for groceries please?
