Fresh Market Florida 10$ Prepared Food Bag

First time trying tgtg, and honestly I’m disappointed. I got the 10.00 prepared food, and I got a small tray of mini Cuban sandwiches and a small container of spring rolls. The sandwiches were wet on the bottom, and completely mush. The spring rolls were not good either…

Too poor to go?

How do other people with no transport (and health issues) use TG2G? I used to use it until my car died in the floods in February. Now I can’t get to the collections as in my town almost none of the participating shops are near me. What do you all do? If it’s costing me £15 in Ubers it’s no longer good value.

Surprise bag for dinner costs 5€.

This surprise bag for dinner costs just €5. However, the app offer claimed it contained food worth around €15. Do you think the items in the bag justified that price?

For anyone who’s interested, here’s the location of the restaurant:

I’m sharing it for transparency so others can make their own judgment based on their experience.

9.6kg of fruit and veg - and car was almost a mile's walk away 🤦‍♀️

£6.66 from Ben's greengrocers on the King's Road. Had to Google what some of it was when I got home - just need to figure out what to do with kohlrabi, greengages and a huge pile of birds eye chillis now!

Half the time, I can't pickup my order

Maybe it's just my area, but at least half of my TooGoodToGo orders have had to be refunded. I've had some places tell me they are out of bags/boxes when I get there. I've had employees tell me they don't even know what TooGoodToGo is. I've had stores close before the scheduled pickup time and there's nobody there to give out their bags/boxes. I always get my money back, but I'm always driving out of my way to go pick something up and it's extremely frustrating. And even the couple I've been able to pickup sometimes have issues. A bag full of packaged foods that all expired a couple weeks to a couple months earlier. I had a "bakery" bag that was supposed to have 6-8 bakery items in it and it was just one deli cake and a box of mass produced butter cookies. I had another that just had a bunch of bottles of different brands of seltzer. I've had two orders that I actually thought, "that was worth it".

Are stores held accountable for misrepresenting their goody bags, closing early, not having any available to meet the number of orders they sold, etc? Does anyone else even experience this, or am I just the unluckiest buyer?

To all the store owners/staff here: Please consider making a separate "Vegetarian" bag listing! (A positive story/suggestion)

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick positive experience I keep having, while also making a small suggestion that I think would be a massive win-win for both customers and store owners on Too Good To Go.

I’m vegetarian, and because of that, buying random "Surprise Bags" from omnivore restaurants can be a bit of a gamble. But over the last few months, I've noticed something awesome: whenever I go to certain local spots and politely mention at the counter, "Hey, just so you know, I'm vegetarian if you happen to have any meat-free leftovers today!" the staff are almost always incredibly nice about it.

So many times, the employees smile and say, "Oh, totally! We actually have tons of vegetarian stuff left over today anyway," and they happily pack me an amazing, 100% veggie-safe bag. It makes me feel so great, and it clearly makes them happy to see the food go to someone who will love it.

But here is my suggestion for store owners:

If your kitchen naturally has a lot of vegetarian leftovers, or if your staff is already happy to accommodate veggie requests, please consider creating a separate "Vegetarian Surprise Bag" listing in the app!

Right now, a lot of vegetarians (and vegans) pass over your restaurant entirely because the title just says "Surprise Bag," and we don't want to risk wasting money or food. If you create a second, labeled listing for a Vegetarian Bag, you will:

Attract a whole new group of customers who normally swipe right past you.

Save your staff time from having to do last-minute swaps or custom packing at the register.

Make it stress-free for both sides.

Even if you can't guarantee it every single day, just listing it when you know you have veggie options left would be a game-changer.

To the store workers who already do this for us at the counter—you guys rock. Thank you for helping us save food!

What do you all think? Have any of you had stores do this for you, or are there any owners here who have tried splitting up their listings?

Two East Bay Bags

I recently joined this sub... wish I'd taken pictures of my previous four TGTG bags.

Today

  1. Dream Fluff Donuts in Berkeley. About a dozen donuts.. Sadly, Just tossed in a bag, so a little smashed, frosting transfer. Still good! I transfered to a box in the house after I gave three donuts to my neighbor. $3.99+ tax

  2. Acme Bread. I'd heard this was a great bag. Also my first time ever at the Acme shop in Berkeley... bought several items in addition to my TGTG bag. A huge (15"?) Levain loaf wrapped in plastic and about 10 assorted rolls; Also gave 3 rolls to my neighbor before the picture. $5.99, no tax.

Previous bags, to get up to date and compare:

  1. Boichik Bagels, Concord. Small bag. $6.99 no tax. First bag ever. Six assorted bagels. Confession... I know its not the norm... a very nice manager swapped out 5 garlic bagels for 5 plain.

  2. Batter 'n Icing, Pleasant Hill. $6.99 + tax. 4 cupcakes. Good assortment.

  3. Chick's Donuts, Concord. $5.63 no tax. At least 12 donuts, great assortment, no real duplicates. Nicely boxed. Very generous. Highly recommend. Confession, I won't get it again, but only because I live alone. Too much food! I've gone back and ordered regular priced items.

  4. Peet's, Pleasant Hill. $3.99 + tax. 4 pastries. My only disappointing bag. Two savory little pastries with spinach and a cherry tomato. Kind of dry, ok when heated. Two more little savory pastries, dryer, and I never figured out what they were. So, not great assortment. Still... four bucks... not a big complaint.

Confession... I think TGTG is a great thing. And, its encouraged me to visit new places. Can't really complain about too much food for money... but it is for a solo household. I've thrown away food, which is contrary to the concept of not wasting food... felt guilty. So, unless there's a quantity, or unless i can pre-arrange a share, I probably wont buy some items again.

Two Pickups! WF Prepared Foods 9.99 and Gong Cha 4.99 - OKC

Feeling accomplished 😂 I managed to reserve 2 bags and pickup at different places this evening. Whole Foods Garlic Chicken and Pasta ready to heat 13.99, Four Cheese Lasagna 14.99 ready to heat and Fingerling Potatoes w/Lemon 7.29 for total of 36.27. Gong Cha offers a Boba Tea surprise bag. I'm not sure what flavors I got... think Passionfruit Green Tea w/black pearls and Strawberry Milk Tea w/black pearls. Both large and would be around 8.00 each and tasted very good.

£4 for this?!

The can is added for reference and was not included. I paid £4 for an “authentic Jamaican meal” and was given a half empty container (the container itself is already tiny and shallow) with a literally a couple of beans and some greens. I disputed this in the app and asked for a refund and was denied because apparently no specific content nor a certain amount of food is promised.

I feel absolutely robbed. I’ve been using a food bank lately because money is really tight and fancied something a little bit nicer for one meal with £20 I got as a tax refund.

I don’t under how customer service can say no specific content or certain amount of food is promised. A “meal” which the listing was described as surely implies some minimum amount of food that this does not live up to.

Is there anything I can do about this given that customer service have been unhelpful?

Tous les Jours Surprise Cake Bag, South Salt Lake

Was off work for the holiday Friday, so when the surprise cake bag went up for grabs, decided to go get one. The cake was cracked pretty badly across the top (which is why I assume it was on TGTG) but was so pretty nonetheless! It turned out to be the ube cloud cake, which was super tasty and surprisingly light. A great deal and I'm happy I got to try a cake I might not have otherwise!

Mold or flour? Fresh Market Bakery $10

Very pleased by the quantity! The lemon bars and the rosemary rolls are definitely good. But the sandwich rolls and burger buns have this white substance on them... I am trying to convince myself it's flour but I don't really think so. Also, I thought the muffins were double chocolate because they're so brown but I bit into the dryesttt most overbaked chocolate chip muffin I have ever tried lol.
